hi! this may be a really abstract question but how does one determine their gender? I THINK im not a boy, girl, or completely neutral, but besides that it's a blur and I don't know why. I've just been using queer/nb to describe myself but it doesn't feel complete enough. similar problem with my sexuality :( how can I figure out what I am? (sending to around 3 blogs so I get multiple advices)

Aporagender/Aingender: Umbrella term for genders separate from male, female, and anything in between while still having a very strong and specific gendered feeling.

Abinary: genders that are completely unrelated to the gender binary (such as agender, quoigender, maverique or most xenogenders).

Maverique: gender characterized by autonomy and inner conviction regarding a sense of self that is entirely independent of male/masculinity, female/femininity or anything which derives from the two while still being neither without gender nor of a neutral gender.

Atrinary/Aternary: genders that are completely unrelated to the gender trinary/ternary of male, female and third-gender/aliagender/neutrois. 

Genderblur or Genderfade: Where your gender changes constantly but fades away into something else rather than making a hard or abrupt transition (ex. feeling like a girl, then slowly feeling more stargender than girl, then feeling only stargender, etc.).

Genderfuzz or Blurgender: A polygender identity where one experiences multiple genders that blur together, making it difficult or impossible to identify what gender(s) one is experiencing at any given time.

Fuzzgender or Fuzzygender: When you know that you’re a certain gender, but can’t explain why you are that gender.

Term of the day: Genderfuzz/Blurgender

Blurgender and genderfuzz are two words for the same concept: when you have multiple genders that blur together to the extent that they are difficult to impossible to tell apart.

While considered a polygender identity, it sometimes makes sense to think of such a gender as a single gender made of two components. It's generally phrased as a form of genderfluid wherein two (or more) genders are blurred together so while at any one time you may be experiencing one or another, it's hard to tell which. You can hold this gender identity with almost any combination of others.

So, I'm having issues with my gender identity - I id as a trans person for a long time and now I'm not as sure. I find myself often feeling like I am both a mlm and wlw, and it feels really confusing? Is that even possible? I know a little bit about nonbinary identities but not a whole lot and feel weird about calling myself nonbinary too, so? I just feel weird and am not sure what to do about this?

Yes, it’s possible! If you feel that you are both mlm and wlw, you may be somewhere under the Polygender umbrella! I’ll throw a few at you to see if anything sticks.

Polygender: A gender identity that falls under the nonbinary and transgender umbrellas. Polygender individuals have several gender identities.

Bigender: A gender identity under the polygender, nonbinary, and transgender umbrella terms. Bigender people have two distinct gender identities, either at the same time, or at different times. 

Genderfuzz or Blurgender: A polygender identity where one experiences multiple genders that blur together, making it difficult or impossible to identify what gender(s) one is experiencing at any given time.

Polygenderflux: Someone who has more than one gender and has the intensity of those genders range/fluctuate. 

Another thing that might cause you to see yourself as both mlm and wlw would be if you considered yourself gay before you realized you were trans. Before I realized I was trans, I spent years calling myself gay because I was attracted to girls, and even now when I am male and find myself attracted to a girl I’ll be like “wow I’m so gay”, even though a boy being attracted to a girl is like, the least gay thing there is. I’m just so used to the train of thought being, “that girl is cute = I’m gay”, you know?

But either way, I suggest you do some self-reflection on your gender first, and if you come to the conclusion that you are 100% binary Trans, then start to examine why you think you’re both wlw and mlm.

I was really happy to settle on my trigender-gradientfluid identity, but now that I’m thinking about adding some kind of intermittent xenogender concept to it, it makes me want to go “screw it” and just identify as femby/fenby with a long list of possible genders that could be in the mush at a given time. The lack of precision will bother me, but my feelings aren’t precise, so that might just need to be how it is.

I don’t really want to go with femfluid/venufluid, even though they would apply, because those don’t emphasize the enby-ness enough for me. I could be fluid between female and enbyfluid, or something along those lines.

It’s times like these that I’m really glad that genderfae exists, because that term isn’t going anywhere for me. I know that I’m not masculine, but I don’t want to have to use “nomagender” or “antiboy” or something like that.

I feel like I'm not a valid bigender person because I don't switch between genders. I just always feel like a mix of two. Like they meshed together to create a new gender. (Like how bisexual is just one sexuality not half gay half straight) am I really bigender? I'm not just an androgyne because my genders aren't male/female.

Bigender can include a mix of two genders - especially if you can identify the two genders, it sounds like an appropriate identity for you. If you think of it as more like a single gender that can't be separated into two components, you could look into blurgender or genderfuzz. But bigender is a perfectly valid way to describe your gender, and you can use it if you think it fits.
