@ d&d while watching 8x05 after getting the 8x04 bullshit
On G.O.T. 8x5
I’m writing this to make up my mind. So.
I’ve been fan of this show since the very beginning of it, back in 2011. Ok. Like, 9 years waiting for this moment to come, the final season. I thought it would have been painful to see the end, ‘cause many of my dreams and fantasies have been filled with the magic this story had. Guess I’ve been wrong: wrong in hoping D&D could have done a good job even if the show parted from the books. Since GOT 4, seasons went from an acceptable season (5) to a bad season (6) to a worse season (7) to THE WORST. SEASON. EVER. (Pardon me. Maybe I’m just a little bit upset. Could be I actually enjoyed season 6. MAYBE.) Nevermind. I’m here to write about the last episode.
Ok. Let’s get started: of course, I’m not saying that there must be an happy ending, but... Gentlemen, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS GOING ON?!?
There were CHARACTERS!
TYRION: Most clever mind in the Seven Kingdoms MY ROYAL ASS. When was it the last time he made an actual intelligent choice? Uhm, like... This is NOT the Tyrion everybody loved. This is NOT the Tyrion from the previous seasons. Do we needed this involution? Absolutely NOT.
JAIME: First, you hate him. Then, you learn he’s not just Cersei’s toy boy. Then, you love him. In my opinion, Jaime was given one of the most beautiful development archs. He meets Brienne, loses his hand and reborns as a new, honorable man... Or maybe not? What if everything we saw was just a shitty filler? All this evolution for what? Involution, again.
CERSEI: I think I had more chances to see the Virgin Mary in my room then Cersei in this season. And I’m an atheist. And uh, yeah. She dies. Like, the lion queen, the woman who first told us about the rules of the game of throne (the “you win or you die” thing, remember?), the woman who would have killed ANYONE, including HER OWN BROTHER/LOVER to protect her children, the woman who gave Bronn the order TO KILL her brother/lover, yes, SHE dies whining in said brother’s arms. Not like a lion. Not like the queen she was: the one sitting on the throne with poison, ready to kill herself and her children to avoid a miserable end. Disappointing.
DAENERYS: Dany what did they do to you? This may be the saddest storyline of the season. She has been abused all her life; yet, not a trace of hate in her. FOR SEVEN SEASONS. She fought for the innocents and the broken. For the weak, for the poors. She fought for PEACE. EQUALITY. FREEDOM. She was the one who wanted to break the wheel. Sure she had. With fire and blood. Oh, hey, that sounds familiar; how silly of me to believe that she was not like her father.
ARYA: I honestly hope she will meet Gendry again. I’m not adding anything. Uh, yes: the white horse thing was the most unlikely scene possible.
JON: Listen, I don’t even know what to say anymore. Maybe I should just repeat the only line he has in this season: “...BuT sHe’S mY qUeEn!1!!!1”
SANSA: She’s honestly my fav character. I don’t think they succeded in ruining her... ... ... Guess who is going to be set on fire next week?
SANDOR “THE HOUND” CLEGANE: Were we talking about fire? In season 6 he was told there was something more for him apart from hate. That his existence was NOT about his thirst for revenge. That the God of Light kept him alive for a reason. I’m taking about what the show actually told us. Not the books or the theories or some other sort of speculation. Well, what was the purpuse of it all? What was the reason he should have had? Telling Arya to leave King’s Landing? Meeting Sansa one last time? Knowing people who would actually trust him and care for him? Experiencing love for the first time in his life and... Just letting it go? Like this? For what? To kill someone who has already been killed by Oberyn? He deserved peace, more than anybody else. He looked for it his whole life. He found it. Why would he waste his life like this? This is much-more-than-horrible writing. Not only D&D were incapable to develope the character properly, they also forget what they wrote themselves in the previous seasons. It makes no fucking sense. The Hound was, together with Sansa, my fav character. Seeing him dying this way, in flames, away from the ones he cares about for absolutely no reason, well, it saddens me.
I can’t believe I’m saying that: I can’t wait for this season to end. I’m done with it. A whole show ruined.
gendrya
me: it makes sense how things ended, I mean, circumstances weren’t at their best, Arya had things to do, she couldn’t be unfair to Gendry, she wouldn’t expect him to just wait for her, things are finally looking up for Gendry too, this is okay, in the end they’re okay and that’s okay,
also me: but they’re so in l o v e
Do you hear those screams, Daenerys Stormborn? Can you hear the bells? They have given up. They’ve surrendered to you almost without a fight. They fear you. They’re not even trying to protect their Queen. And when you become their Queen, they won’t protect you either. Even the Lannister soldiers threw their swords to the ground. They didn’t even try to hit you with Scorpions, as if they had forgotten how to shoot straight. You will not win recognition in this city, only fear makes them obey. And why do you need all these people? People who won’t fight for you the way they’re not fighting for Cersei right now. They’ll scatter like cockroaches and yell, “Ring the damn bells.” And someone else will take your place, someone who scares them more than you do now. You were right to say you have no love here, only fear. Everyone who was truly loyal to you is dead, your two children are dead. You’ve been kind, but no one appreciates your kindness. You keep them alive, and they betray you. For many years you have been going to the planned purpose, and then everything is taken away from you. You know that Varys has notified everyone that John has more rights to the throne than you do. You know what happens next. You’re alone, Daenerys, and you no longer have the right to make a mistake. Let there be fear. Trusting them all was madness.
Tonight's episode was an insult to Jaime Lannister.
That's the only thing I have to say
“Look at me. Look at me! You wanna be like me?
You come with me, you’ll die here.”
a.k.a Sandor Clegane being the voice of reason and showing Arya that getting revenge is not what life is all about.
