a/n: awww this is so cute! Just for reference this is definitely going to be with season 1 gotham eddie because I absolutely adore him in that season lol and you guys are co-workers!
Gotham Riddler Reacting to Reader Asking Him to Be Their Valentine
First you two would be stumbling over who should speak up-
You were surprised that Eddie seemed to be in the same determined trot you were in.
After a brief silence, you decide to speak up and ask him to be your Valentine…
Needless to say, Eddie froze.
There’s no way, someone had to set you up for this…
Not that he wasn’t going to ask you the same, but–you you said it first instead–
And in all the scenarios he played out in his head, he very rarely entertained the idea that you would ask first.
You see the perplexed look on Ed’s face and assume you perhaps misread all your previous interactions with the man-
That is until his face lights up and he gives you that familiar cheeky muppet-like smile you adore~
Once he accepts it feels like a suffocating weight is lifted off the both of you.
Now you two are just basking in the excitement for the next step of your relationship~
how would the riddlers react to being shoved into a small closet with their crush? so basically 7 minutes in heaven ;3
a/n: hmm a few would be flustered but most would be annoyed lmao most of these will be accidents while a couple may be totally on purpose lol.
The Riddlers React to Being Stuck in the Closet w/ Reader
Arkhamverse Riddler:
- Oh great, oh great, this is fantastic!
- This is exactly why Edward insists-no ORDERS you to stay away while he's working!
- You got the two of you into this mess. You'll be one to get yourselves out.
- Edward barely gives you even a second to try and pry the door open or check the knob before he begins making his attempt.
- You couldn't deny enjoying the close proximity with the genius-
- There was a small floating bulb hanging from the ceiling that allowed you to enjoy some of his features-not to mention highlighting his toned arms–
- Your observations don't go unnoticed by Edward
- “Will you stop gawking and make yourself useful and get us out of here!” You definitely don't miss his slightly reddened cheeks.
Dano/Reevesverse Riddler:
- Definitely panics but tries to hide it…
- The claustrophobia lingers slightly–being with you, offering a slight comfort but being shoved in so close to your person-
- Edward is struggling to get a grip on his mind to find a solution to this predicament.
- He turns to face towards the door--so your body isn't pressed against his.
- Not that your body repulsed him..quite the opposite, and for that, he needed to try and create some distance even in this cramped space.
- However, he could still feel your soft and warm form even just pushed up against his side…
- Edward tries to remain steadfast on picking the lock-
- Once freed he catches his breath- only to lose it again at your genuine praise and gratitude.
Gotham Riddler:
- Oh well, isn't this just swell-
- He seems annoyed and frustrated at first…
- He sees a conundrum and just wants to be the one to solve it and-
- You're there awfully close beside him…
- Oh how impressed and grateful you would be to get you to out-
- You would bring yourself closer to him in an embrace on your own accord…not just cause you're both stuck in a damned broom closet.
- Your body was so close though…he has imagined a moment where you would be so close…
- Ah, he can't get distracted-there's plenty of time for those opportunities to arise-
- Like the sidehug you gave him when he finally got you two out.
BTAS Riddler:
- Edward's been showboating all night announcing his latest toy-
- You would've never known he could be coy until you found yourself stuck with him shoulder to shoulder, chest to chest with him.
- His face goes as red as his hair-
- He profusely apologizes for this predicament-
- Is that…sweat running down the side of his face.
- Edward tries to clear his throat and regain his composure as his gloved hand fiddles with the doorknob and keyhole-
- Edward practically jumps out of his skin when you place your hand on his shoulder for support.
- He becomes even more fidgety, between his twitching fingers and the damned purple gloves he's surprised himself that he managed to get the door down.
- Edward thinks he can take a breath of fresh air now that you two aren't trapped in a tiny closet-
- Until you thanked him graciously and topped off your statement with a sweet peck on his cheek.
Zero Year/Capullo Riddler:
- Asshole likely tossed you in here with him and locked the door.
- You know, that he knows, you know Edward has a key and could let you two out at any given time-
- But where's the fun in that?
- Edward is definitely going to tease you, egging you on to open the door yourself.
- I mean…if you want out so badly you can figure it out right?
- Surely, you can pick a simple old lock, right?
- You don't ignore Edward's hands as he strategically places his hands on parts of your body as you try to pick the lock.
- Ohh, you hate him, you hate him, PURE RESENTMENT
Gotham City Sirens Riddler:
- Well, this is better than having a bomb blow up in his face.
- Although…when he became a detective, he didn't think his life would turn into a teen sitcom-
- Edward reassures you that you two will get out and apologize for the inconvenience.
- A small side quest to do some reconnaissance has turned into a greater dibocal than it ever needed to be.
- However, as Ed kept mulling over in his head-it could very well be worse…
- He did always wonder what it would be like to have you close to him…mere centimeters apart.
- He tries to keep a confident cool about him, whether it’s to put you or him at ease, neither of you can say.
- The awkward scenario did put you two in a position to just talk casually about whatever came to mind.
- It made the forced proximity seem less suffocating and more comfortable…you two were able to find yourselves chuckling at your ordeal even as you finally escaped.
Telltale Riddler:
- Oh what a preposterous, careless quagmire you two are in.
- Edward is mostly exasperated at the dilemma-
- How in the hell did he-no you-no…just how was this even possible?
- Ed demands you give him room (which wasn't much) as he begins trying to get the door open.
- He picks the lock and even begins to try and ram the door open-
- You try your best to get him to calm down-
- Ed may have some umph that lets him keep up with Batman, but he was still a much older man.
- After considering your advice, Edward was able to free the two of you…he silently mumbles some gratitude towards you that you didn't miss.
Young Justice Riddler:
- Oh, what a cruel, cruel joke…
- Apologizes profusely, literally does everything he can to try and bleed through the walls somehow and escape this scenario altogether.
- Fumbling with his hands and other ligaments to not touch you…anywhere especially anywhere…suggestive.
- As Eddie's apologizing, you're reassuring him that he's fine. Everything's fine…you two just need to get out.
- You suggest picking the lock on the closet and Eddie takes the initiative-
- (totally not just something to distract himself from how physically close he is to you)
- Eddie's face reddens tenfold when you somehow nestle against him and give him words of encouragement.
- Your warmth, your presence, being surrounded by you in this cramped closet…
- Eddie comes to terms with the fact that he may very well just die here-
- But before he concedes to his death, the door opens, and he unceremoniously tumbles as the door he is supporting himself on quickly swung open-
- You catch him before he can face plant on the ground-
- Now he's flustered at the fact you held his hand~

- Edward is furious.
- How could this have happened? You were always near him?
- Who dared to stroll in and snatch you away? Did you even put up any kind of fight?
- He wants to blame it on you somehow; you were distracted, you got careless…you had a habit of getting far too comfortable.
- Deep down though, Ed was enraged at himself. What kind of genius is he if he can’t protect his own?
- For once, there was a matter far more pressing than his original plan to foil the Caped Crusader.
Dano/Reevesverse Riddler:
- Edward's whole nervous system is set aflame.
- His breathing increases, and his heart palpitates--a panic attack rising.
- No, no he can't lose his nerve.
- He has to find you-NEEDS to find you.
- You kept him sane, made him feel accepted, loved…he CAN'T lose you.
- Edward dons his mask and packs up his gear.
- He was going to get you back, no matter what.
Gotham Riddler:
- Ed's body is shaken from the inside out with pure rage.
- His mind is racing with who could possibly do this to get a rise out of him.
- He loathes to admit it, but it worked--it absolutely worked, whoever it is got his attention.
- Ed wastes no time to set out to find you.
- You are priority #1, and he will paint the streets of Gotham red to find you.
- He won't leave any stone unturned until he has you back.
BTAS Riddler:
- A seething rage washes over him.
- He can't seem to have anything good in his life without someone or something pulling the rug from under his feet.
- Rage soon shifts to concern…where were you, who had you, did they hurt you, were they going to?
- Edward has to shake his head to get the worrying thoughts out of his head.
- He needs to focus. He's got to figure out who would do this and where you could possibly be held.
- Once you're safe in his arms again…he'll worry about the next steps to keep you safe…
Zero Year/Capullo Riddler:
- Edward doesn't jump into action like others have…when he first saw the note, he figured you were just playing a trick on him.
- However, when he searches for you around your humble and cozy apartment, he's stunned.
- Edward's blood runs cold.
- You truly were taken.
- He tries to recount your last moments, the last increments of which he's seen you…
- Ed's temper begins to flare at this point.
- But no matter how frustrating it got, he would bring you back.
Gotham City Sirens Riddler:
- Edward has helped solve many kidnappings for various people.
- He did always worry about you possibly being in danger due to you being in a relationship with him…
- But a kidnapping?
- He never really imagined you being kidnapped. Usually, if someone had an issue with him--they would affect himself.
- Whatever case he was working on is immediately put on hold, and he refuses any new cases that come to his desk.
- Everything comes to a stop. All his energy and knowledge go to solving your whereabouts and bringing you back.
- Will likely enlist the help of Selina to find you. She hears and sees all sorts of things.
- Edward tries his best not to show it, but Selina can see the worry in his eyes, and she assures him they will get you back.

- Truly, likely the most panicked out of most of the other Riddlers.
- Guilt also overwhelms him a lot.
- You wouldn't likely be the victim of a kidnapping if you weren't associated with him.
- He knew he shouldn't have gotten involved with you…
- Eddie has to shake it off--he has to pull it together and find you.
- He begins to look for clues to where you've been and what you've done leading up to your whereabouts.
- Eddie tries to keep a determined attitude, to shove down any anxiety or insecurity, and keep it from distracting him from the objective at hand.
- You mean far too much for him to waste any time.

- It isn't until he tries to get comfortable he notices.
- And he is extremely shocked.
- How–what–what's the logic behind this? This is ridiculous!
- He almost has half a mind to wake you up and demand you put and demand you put something on.
- Yet he somehow even feels too tired to even do that.
- Ed will deny it in the morning, but you cannot deny that he did enjoy nestling into your side and into your skin.
Reevesverse/Dano Riddler:
- Oh..uhh…oh wow…umm…is that really comfortable?
- Gotham can be unbearingly cold at night and his apartment doesn't have the best heater.
- Edward is still very new to this level of intimacy–
- His brain will go into overdrive, trying to figure out if you're trying to tell him something.
- Are-are you trying to initiate…what he thinks you are?
- As his head spins, his face is flushed red.
- Edward will try to work up the courage to ask what this is about.
- You will have to explain to him if you were teasing him or just trying a new sensation.
- Either way, he will understand or try to, just give him a heads up next time…you almost gave him a heart attack.

- His whole pale face is as red as a ripe tomato.
- Eddie will likely assume you aren't feeling well…that…that's the only explanation.
- Are you getting chills? Are you overheating? Do you feel nauseous? Here let him take your temperature.
- You really can't help but laugh and find his concern incredibly endearing.
- Ed is relieved to hear you're fine, but is now back to surprise when he realizes you were just teasing him.
- What…what should he do? For once he kinda leans into his confident alter ego for guidance.
- Once you two get closer and he gets to feel the softness of your skin, he's immediately hooked.
- Eddie can't just have his hands touching you, he wants all of his skin touching your own.
BTAS Riddler:
- Man's face is as red as his hair.
- Well, well, well…this is um…quite the surprise.
- Where in the world did you get this idea?
- Eddie will try to keep a confident and collected aura about him.
- But he's absolutely quivering on the inside, his heart about to beat out of his chest.
- His eyes rake over your body, appreciatively, until you tore the covers from his hand and snuggle into the mattress as you tuck the comforter back underneath you.
- You tease him and say he can't see or touch until he joins you also naked.
- Well, who's he to turn down a deal like that?
- Eddie snatches the covers and hops into bed, quick to wrap you in his arms and kiss youwhich muffled your laughs.
Zero Year/Capullo Riddler:
- Oh my God fucking FINALLY
- As much as he does enjoy the occasional strip tease…
- Having you already naked makes it a gazillion times easier to get to the main event.
- I imagine this Ed only sleeps in his boxers (briefs)...(and question mark socks)
- So when he sees you naked he's very quick to discard his underwear.
- If you weren't trying to have sex by sleeping nude then…good luck trying to convince him otherwise.
- Or trying to get his hands off of you…like at all.

- Quirks an eyebrow.
- He's not sure if he's amused, confused, or annoyed.
- And you can't quite tell either at first.

- You shrug, maybe you wanted to catch him off guard, maybe you've been getting too hot cause he won't let you turn the ac on (cause if it's hitting anything below 80°F he claims to be freezing)
- Ed will either call your bluff and actually get into bed with you and not give you any attention…you will have to work for that.
- Or he'll tell you to put some clothes on or he won't share a bed with you.
- OR if you catch him on a particularly trying night he may just pounce immediately.
Young Justice Riddler:

- Most likely to genuinely have his nose slowly bleed.
- He's confused on what to do or how to respond.
- Like not that he doesn't…err…appreciate you letting him see you but…why?
- Also like Gotham Riddler and wonders if maybe you're overheating or not feeling well.
- When you tell him you just wanted to tease him, he's practically melting.
- Oh well, yeah you…you did very successfully.
- You'll likely have to drag him to bed with you and proceed to take off his clothes for him so he can join you properly.

Edward tries to hide his possessiveness over you.
After all, he doesn’t care what you do or why you do them-just as long as you’re out of his way–
However, there is no denying the weird knot in his gut at you getting closer to the other Rogues.
Why do you want to spend time with them? Surely, you could be learning far more useful and intelligent things from HIM.
He starts coming up with menial tasks for you to do, so that you are too occupied to see anyone or have anyone steal your attention.
You have to always be by his side whenever there’s a gathering of rogues.
Edward will often be the barrier between you and the others, even childishly blocking you from even waving at Harley.
Edward thinks he’s hiding it well, he’s being clever about it, but it’s pretty blatant to you and the others.
Reevesverse/Dano Riddler:
Edward already can’t believe that he has you.
He sure as hell isn’t going to let someone else sweep you away.
He freezes every time he sees you talking to someone else.
Who are they? Who are they to you? Family? Friend? Ex-love?
A possible new love interest to come and take you away and leave him miserable like the world continues to do to him?
Edward is already plotting to find out who they are, where they live, and how to dispose of them–
He’ll already have several different plans by the time you get back to him.
You’ll have to do a lot of reassuring and grounding him back to Earth, and that you aren’t going anywhere.
Gotham Riddler:
Ed doesn’t like how much attention you draw to yourself.
And it’s even more frustrating when you don’t even see what you’re doing.
Edward constantly feels like he has to cut in on your conversations.
He has to pull you away and bring your attention back to him
Ed will instantly question the conversation, what your intentions were, etc.
You are by his side the rest of the time no matter what.
Even if someone approaches you, he’ll instantly interject, and squeeze his arms around you or hold your hand tighter.
No matter where you are or what the situation calls for, everyone will know you’re his.
BTAS Riddler:
Edward knows better than most what it’s like to have something you care about taken from you suddenly.
When it comes to someone he loves…there’s definitely less control and more opportunities for loss.
He wants to be confident in the relationship, to not be possessive…
But he’s still worried about losing you somehow…
He sees you smiling and enjoying yourself with another person…
Ed has an internal conflict of just leaving you be.
Or coming over there and making sure…nothing was happening.

Edward doesn’t hide the fact that he’s possessive.
He always has to have you by his side.
Ed’s arms are always around you, hands on you, you are always sitting in his lap.
No one should really dare to approach you, but regardless some people don’t get the memo.
He won’t disrupt or anything but he will definitely keep an eye on your interaction.
Ed will wait for a moment before swooping in and stealing your attention back to him.
Not before making the other person…extremely uncomfortable anyhow.
He doesn’t care, as long as the message is clear; that you’re his.
Telltale Riddler:
Honestly, he’s the least likely to be possessive…
Much like Arkhamverse, however he’s a bit better at hiding it by distracting himself.
He does have his moments where he constantly asks you what you’ve been up to..
Edward’s very observant, he notices you not being around much.
Or he’ll overhear you talking to someone on the phone–you sound very amused…
He’s not bothered just interested…
Totally not concerned that you may be leaving him for someone more…emotionally available.
Young Justice Riddler:
Eddie truly doesn’t mean to come off as possessive.
His possessiveness, like Dano Riddler, is fueled more or less by his insecurities.
He doesn’t want to lose you, and he’s aware of that possibility at every waking moment.
However, he’s also aware that he may be coming off…controlling…suffocating.
Ed will see you talking to someone and will immediately get self-conscious.
Especially if he sees you smiling and clearly enjoying the company.
He goes through a bunch of worse-case scenarios that continue to snowball into you leaving him…
Until you walk up to him with a bright smile and hold his hand, instantly comforting him.

Edward enjoys spoiling you when he can as much as he does teasingly chastising you.
Edward was usually the one that was putty in your hands, but it’s nice for the roles to be reversed every once in a while.

I mean this kink is basically a given with this Ed.
He's prime daddy material
He is the dominant one in the relationship.
So to have you into the idea of seeing him as "daddy", is perfect for him.
This Edward gives you the best praises.
He doesn't care if you call him daddy in public.
Ed would actually much prefer it if you did.
In fact if you don't, he has punishments that are just as harsh as he praises are sweet.

Edward loves to have you perched on his desk.
Or have you sitting on his lap while he works on a case at his desk.
Ed also thrives off the attention and your submissive nature towards him.
But he won't make you or pressure you to do something you aren't comfortable with.
Much like other Riddlers, this Ed prefers to keep the dynamic to a private setting.
Random note; Ed definitely knows he has fucked up somewhere when you don't call him daddy or other endearing terms.

Edward is aware he’s very much your senior.
Any terms to further prove that he’s the older one, the smarter one, the more dominant one…he’s all in for.
Daddy included.
Although he much prefers it when you use that term when the two of you are alone.
Especially when you two are engaging in some explicit activities.
He won’t ever admit it, not directly, but it definitely terms him on when you whisper it in his ear.
Or if you do something that would normally agitate him, but soften the apology with “daddy”
