No, he doesn’t have a place of his own, he lives on the top floor of the house, and he’s been up since 4.30 am feeding the horses and mucking out stables and putting the horses through their paces and he’s been on the go for over 14 hours, which is a typical day for him. Now he’s just trying to wind down by watching his favourite show, Cowgirl Chicks, which is an equestrian-themed show about a group of performing cowgirls who travel the country performing incredible stunts on horseback. He deserves to wind down and watch TV and relax at the end of a long, physically exhausting day.

It’s a little naive of Saoirse not to realize the good doctor probably goes home and takes care of things with the inspiration she’s given. Still, if she’s okay with that arrangement it’s not Roy’s business. Still a little concerning that she’s lying to her husband about doing that but meh. Dysfunctional marriages all over this place.

I am sure Saoirse is well aware of what the doctor might do when he gets home, but she isn’t really interested! And she justifies not telling her husband by telling herself that he would not understand (definitely true) and that it’s harmless, and no one is getting hurt, and that if she didn’t have a little outlet for her subversive streak then she would go insane.

LOLOL Roy is not thinking things through, and being extremely selfish, but like I said earlier, I do admire his bravery and his crazy risk-taking…I guess it’s those qualities that make him a successful sports agent, too. Now, as for Saoirse, she goes along with it because she gets a giggle out of it, it makes her feel special, and a bit naughty, and she gets off the fact that no one else would have the foggiest idea what she and the kindly old vet get up to after hours. (Briony suspects they are having an affair, but has no proof).

I guess the question now is whether Saoirse is only providing a show for the doctor to… tend himself to or if she’s the one doing the handling. Either way doesn’t look great for her to be doing as a married woman to begin with but maybe she can convince Roy it’s just “a business transaction” like his little Crystal loophole.

I’m sure a psychologist would have a field day, but the way I see it is that catering to the doctor’s whims gives her an outlet for the suffocating boredom of living in Sunset Valley, and also feeds her rebellious streak. She does also genuinely like the doctor. I think his feelings for her might go deeper than that, though.

Having once been a person with deep seated insecurities, which were only strengthened every time one of my ‘friends’ betrayed me in some way or other, and not able to ever feel secure about any relationship until I somehow landed into a relationship with someone who’d already somehow stuck with me for ten years of ups and downs and bests and worsts… I can’t hate on Anita for this.

Even now, more secure than I’ve ever been in my life, it’s still true that adding anyone 'new’ into my life… is a process. For anyone to actually get close to me they either have to first endure me keeping them at a certain distance for X amount of time (probably measured in years), or else they have to manage to stick around in spite of me being incredibly insecure about them in particular (and all that entails) for … well, about a year or so, it seems.

Nearly all of Anita’s insecurities stem from the fact that she is not young anymore, and from the 20 year age gap between she and Joël…she refuses to accept that her looks might be fading either, hence her addiction to cosmetic surgery. And she has always had anger issues, but now she  has the trauma of Jim’s death and the abuse she suffered at his hands to deal with too. Any relationship is hard…trying to make one succeed under the weight of so much baggage must be unbelievably exhausting. Thank you for showing Anita such kindness and empathy.

I’m with Histrionics on this too. Yes, she’s being unreasonable. But for him to suddenly react in this way is uncalled for and not helpful. He’s taking out his anger at Roy on her, and that’s not okay. He KNEW she was going to react poorly to this. Threatening her and not even offering to discuss it later is just as (possibly more) unreasonable. I’m disappointed in him. I suppose after what she’s gone through it could be possible! In my head though I imagine her as experiencing the type of rage-fuelled blackout or gapping out associated with PTSD. Besides, I don’t think I’d dare tackle writing someone with multiple personality disorder- that would take a much much better writer than me! :P

George really did think that Anita not going back to work was because of him, and he felt guilty. He was also concerned about her wellbeing after the events of the previous night. That’s why he was ringing her and why he went to the house. No other reason. He’s married. And he doesn’t want anyone on the side. He saw an opportunity the night before and he went for it. It was sneaky and underhanded of him, some may even say despicable, but he still does have some redeeming qualities. No one is 100% good or 100% bad.

I understand Anita loves Joel. However, psychological trauma can leave one struggling with upsetting emotions, memories, and anxiety that won't go away. - When bad things happen, it can take a while to get over the pain and feel safe again. I seriously think Anita needs to make a healing.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. But at the same time, no one makes Anita feel safe like Joël <3 And she’s also had a glimpse of her mortality and that scared her. She doesn’t want to waste any more time being with men who are unknown quantities. And for once too she may actually be putting Jared’s needs first.
