The Grey Company sets out from Rivendell.

This is from last November! Inspiration kicked me in the face and I had to draw this scene of the Lads leaving the Last Homely House to go to their Doom... I am still completely obsessed with the way Lord of the Rings Online expanded upon what is only a footnote in the books, and took us on a journey of angst and heartbreak; so my plan is, as I replay the content, to illustrate every step and write a fic about my own character's involvement in it.

But yea. I cannot imagine the Grey Company without the Ranger NPCs from LOTRO anymore.. <: They are now canon and beloved to me. Here we have Lothrandir on tiny grey Mithul, Tirirandir (who is my character) on his borrowed horse Pîn, his best buddy Candaith on a liver chestnut I don't believe has a name (?) and Halbarad the gigachad with Arwen's banner.

I still have a love/hate relationship with the colours, but it's one of the better pieces of last year. 2024 in general was one of the better years in terms of personal art; I wholly attribute that to getting into drawing Tolkien fanart and discovering new communities!! After seven years of film school, I'm finally inspired and motivated again to create and share, and that's bliss to me!

May I suggest an alternate, more unhinged Fellowship of the Ring?

From left to right:

- Halbarad (the normal one, very underrated)

- Lady Dis (has been carrying a grudge for a very long time)

- Tauriel (I love her, and I want her to go on a nice roadtrip with her mother-in-law)

- Prince Imrahil (I just think he's neat)

- Cirdan the Shipwright (too old for this shit, parents the others, will probably go on rampage at some point)

- Grimbeorn the Old (looks like they could kill you, is actually a cinammon roll)

- Lobelia Sackville-Baggins (will see the manager and kick his arse)

- Farmer Maggot (keeper of the single braincell, secretly the most dangerous of the lot)

- Radagast (has no idea what is going on, is just along for the ride, has the same abilities as Snow-White in Shrek)

Now, please, do tell me how that trainwreck goes. One thing I know for sure is that they're all smoking weed by the time they reach the gates of Moria.

Other contenders I thought to include but didn't : Tom Bombadil, Goldberry, Beregond, Glorfindel, Faramir, Rosie Cotto, Fatty Bolger, Elladan and Elrohir, Thorin Stonehelm, Gwaihir.

Merry and Pippin made me think so much of Monthy Python this chapter, specifically the People's Front of Judea in the Life of Brian. So fun!

Have to give a shout out to Faramir, Boromir and Éowyn by @flurgburgler today because oh boy, not only is the art spectacular, and seeing the three of them together bring me great joy, but the design of their outfits makes my fingers itch to make them. It's just so pretty!

I have to warn you all; I'm on holiday for a week starting next Saturday, so my timings for the last 2 chapters might be a little squiffy, but I will at least try to make sure they're all edited and ready to be posted for you guys! (Wow, only 2 chapters left...)
