Hi, I have this premise that I can't get out of my head, pls help. In MDZS verse, WWX doesn't play WangXian to calm Wen Ning so LWJ doesn't recognise him. He recognises his stance, his general "style", so after seeing that Zidian didn't work on him he convinces himself that MXY must be WWX's disciple, so he takes him to the Cloud Recesses for answers. Canon events unfold and "MXY" is brilliant and charming. To his shame, LWJ starts falling in love with him.
Ok I would never write this because that’s wayyy to close to canon for me (and that would stress me out because of all the details), but the promise of DRAMA in this is delicious.
LWJ takes MXY back to Gusu and interviews him, and evidently MXY knows some things he really shouldn’t know, but it all makes sense if he had access to WWX’s writings. And that knowledge will be useful, so he’s definitely keeping this man around.
It doesn’t take long to understand that MXY doesn’t just have access to the collected knowledge of WWX, but also has a similarly keen and inventive mind, a similar sense of humour, and also a similar obnoxiousness he’s known from WWX. And he justifies it all by thinking that obviously, similar minds are attracted to each other or whatnot, no wonder MXY became WWX’s disciple. And no, he doesn’t feel strangely attracted to those particular characteristics.
What’s worse, however, is that there is something so spirited, energetic about MXY that reminds him so strongly of WWX before all this shit happened to him, and it hurts LWJ to be reminded once more of all that was lost. And then he sometimes feels like MXY is looking at him, and he’s not dumb, he knows what people say about MXY...
He realises at some point that he feels far too attracted to this person, seeking physical closeness before he even realises what he’s doing, and there are some tense moments between the two of them when LWJ almost lays hand on MXY, and he feels so guilty, because he has sworn to love one person and one person only in this life.
And probably MXY does end up kissing LWJ at some point, and LWJ takes five steps back and is like “I’m really sorry, I cannot do this, there is one person only I’m devoted to.” MXY: “You have someone you love??” LWJ: “Yes. In fact, it is your master. It would be horrible to make you a replacement for him. You must understand.” MXY: “My master??” LWJ: “Yes... Wei Wuxian.” MXY, who really is WWX: [demonic screeching]
How do you tell a person you’re really the person he’s currently talking about without sounding like an absolute madman? Also, LWJ loves HIM????????? He thought he was really horny for MXY all this time!!!
