unpopular opinion; I HATE viggo x hiccup. i don't see the appeal at all, viggo is much, much older than him and it's just, no. my favs (besides hiccstrid because they are gen perfect) are anything to do with hiccup, tuff, or snotlout. (not hicclout as they're cousins) I'd ship damn near anything before viggo and hiccup. maybe even dagur and viggo, not them. i just cant

I do admit I find it a bit funny when people give the reason of them being cousins for not shipping Hiccup and Snotlout… in the franchise.

Because in the httyd books, sure, yeah, they’re cousins canonically. But the franchise and the books are quite different for all that they’re both awesome and beloved and the franchise is based on the books, and in the franchise they’re simply never canonically stated to be cousins

I encountered the franchise before I had the chance to read the books and I went so long not knowing they were cousins in the books because they’re not cousins, canonically, in the franchise

I mean ship what you want to, don’t ship what you don’t want to. Whatever you like, you like; and whatever squicks you out, squicks you out. None of my business there what all that happens to be. If we share a like, great; if you like something that squicks me out or vice versa, well, don’t like don’t read is such a lovely thing

Just wanted to show this great moment between Snotlout and Hiccup as the former decides, without a single complaint, to help out a friend and find him a new leg.

I like that Snotlout decides to help Hiccup out without even batting an eye. I like that he does it in a humorous and typical way for him while still showing that he’s genuinely trying to help a guy out.

There is no useless taunting banter, no sarcasm, no other Snotlout-y things he probably would have said if this were to have taken place in the past, just Snot immediately finding a solution for Hiccup’s problem, getting to solving it without wasting time, and not immediately asking for something in return.

I like that he actually did pick out a left leg for Hiccup to use too. And one that fits!

The dialogue was also quite whimsical.

Hiccup: *babbling nonsense*

Momma Snotlout: Hush you!

And then there is that little victory smirk after he attaches the bone leg. Such a Snotface...face.

But most of all, I love how, when Hiccup stands up to test out his spoopy new leg, Snotlout actually stays kneeled and checks to make sure this is an okay solution for Hiccup, not smiling or smirking or anything. Just waiting and seeing if Hicc can stand like this.

I just really love this moment, I really do. It is the Hiccup and Snotlout that I will never forget. We can basically see, in just this moment alone, how much Snotlout has grown in Race to the Edge.
