[A3!] ★ Main Story | Act 14 - DREAM CATCHER | Episode 5 - Dressing Room Greeting
Igawa: If this afternoon’s shoot goes well, we’ll have everything wrapped up the day after tomorrow.
Tenma: I’ll be sure to not make things take longer than they need to.
Igawa: Your schedule was pretty jam-packed this time around.
Igawa: Your next drama is an original drama that’ll be streaming-only, so I think you’ll have a little more room in your shooting schedule then.
Igawa: There’s been a lot of talk recently about streaming-only dramas, but what are you hoping for, Tenma-kun? For example, do you want to prioritize broadcasted things, or…?
Tenma: No, I want to pick things based on whether or not they can help me grow as an actor, just like I’ve done in the past.
Tenma: And both have their merits. Broadcasting has been building up quite a history for some time now, and streaming has the ability to be seen all around the world.
Igawa: Understood.
Igawa: Once the next shoot is over, you’ll be able to focus on your performance. Your father’s been wondering about the current state of the theater industry too.
Tenma: My father? He sure seems to know a lot for it being something out of his field.
Igawa: Your father cares about you more than you think he does, Tenma-kun.
Igawa: Back when there was the fire at MANKAI Theater and things were looking bad for the company, he was worried about you…
Igawa: He was just a bit too busy back then to actually be of much help.
Tenma: It’s fine…
Igawa: Oh, right, I understand that you’d like to discuss some of the Sumeragi Agency policies with--.
*Phone buzzes*
Igawa: --Excuse me. Let me quickly answer this.
Tenma: Sure thing.
*Door closes*
Tenma: (I had no clue Dad cared like that. We usually don’t keep in touch…)
*Knock at the door*
Tenma: Igawa? Did you forget something?
*Door opens*
Hiro: Yo.
Tenma: !?
Hiro: I saw your name on the dressing room door, so I thought I’d pop in and say hi. I was doing a shoot in the same studio.
Tenma: Oh, gotcha.
Hiro: I’ve heard a lot about what you’ve been up to from my Tenma Sumeragi fan son. …Seems like you’re still as busy as ever.
Tenma: I guess that makes two of us.
Hiro: And who’s fault is that? I thought I’d be wrapping up today, but it looks like I’m gonna be in the US tomorrow.
Tenma: The US? For a movie location shoot or something?
Hiro: I’m not starring in it, but it’s for a Hollywood movie shoot.
Tenma: That’s incredible.
Hiro: You’re planning on making it in the world just like your father, aren’t you?
Hiro: You’d better start hurrying to catch up.
Tenma: --.
Hiro: …But that’s not your concern now, is it? Getting caught up in Yukio’s typhoon must’ve been hard on your theater company, huh?
A3! Main Story: Part 4 - Act 14: DREAM CATCHER - Episode 5: Dressing Room Greeting
Igawa: Should the shooting this afternoon go smoothly, we will be able to wrap everything up on the day after tomorrow.
Tenma: We have to make sure we don’t drag this on.
Igawa: The schedule was pretty tight this time around.
Igawa: Since the next drama will be an original drama only available for online streaming, I believe there will be a little more leeway with the schedule.
Igawa: There’s been a lot of talk about streaming-only drama lately, but what would you like to do, Tenma-kun? Would you rather prioritize TV broadcasting?
Tenma: Nah, I want to keep deciding based on whether it’ll help me grow as an actor, as I’ve done till now.
Tenma: They’ve both got their benefits. TV broadcasting will always have a religious following, and streaming can be viewed worldwide.
Igawa: Understood.
Igawa: Once the next filming is finished, you can focus on the performance. Your father has also expressed his concerns about the current state of the theater industry.
Tenma: Father? This is a different field from his, but he sure is staying informed.
Igawa: Your father cares about you far more than you realize, Tenma-kun.
Igawa: When there was all that commotion with the fire at MANKAI Theater and the company was in trouble, he was seriously worried…
Igawa: He was really disheartened by the fact that he was too busy to be of any help.
Tenma: It all turned out okay, though…
Igawa: Oh yes, regarding the Sumeragi Office’s policies–
[Phone vibrating]
Igawa: Ahaha, excuse me. I have to take this one.
Tenma: Sure.
[Igawa leaves, the door closes]
Tenma: (I had no idea Father cared so much. We don’t keep in contact that much…)
[Knocks on the door]
Tenma: Igawa? Did you forget something?
Hiro: Yo.
Tenma: !?
Hiro: I saw your name on the door, so I thought I’d stop by to say hi. I’ve also got a filming in this studio
Tenma: Ah, I see.
Hiro: My Tenma Sumeragi fanboy of a son has been telling me everything you’ve been up to… Sounds like you’re as busy as usual.
Tenma: I could say the same to you.
Hiro: It's tough work, but I'm grareful for the opportunities. I thought today was intense, but I'm flying to the US tomorrow.
Tenma: The US? Like an on-location shooting?
Hiro: I ain’t the lead, but I’m filming a Hollywood movie.
Tenma: That’s amazing.
Hiro: You also plan on taking the world stage the way your father has, yeah?
Hiro: Hurry and catch up.
Tenma: — —
Hiro: … Though now’s not the time for that. I’m sure the entire company has their hands full after being swept into Yukio’s typhoon.
Hiro: I’ll be rooting for you, so do your best.
Tenma: Yeah, of course we will.
Hiro: See ya.
[Hiro leaves, the door closes]
Tenma: …
Tenma: (The world stage, huh… Like he said, now's not the time…)
A3! Event Story Translation “NEW ERA GARDEN” [Chapter 3]
We find out about Yukio's plans for the first gen MANKAI troupe members.
Kasumi
Shinsengumi!?
Yuzo
…Another famous theme.
Hiro
Come to think of it, we talked about it back then too.
Zen
Hakkaku-san’s Shinsengumi, another troupe wanted to do the same thing. We never settled on it in the end.
Syu
Don’t tell me, Hakkaku-san left behind a script?
Yukio
Nope, I decided to write it myself this time.
Kasumi
You did, Yukio-san?
Syu
I don’t recall you writing a screenplay before.
Reni
He used to write a lot in highschool, he makes quick work when he’s excited. I had a chance to check it out, it’s mostly finished.
Yukio
I have a general idea of what I wanted to do with the Shinsengumi story since I used to talk about it with Hakkaku-san back then.
We even considered the casting.
Yuzo
I see…
Syu
I wonder if Reiji accepted the story so eagerly just because Yukio’s the one writing it.
Reni
It’s because of his position as a board member.
Zen
Well, whatever it is, we’ll be fine as long as there’s a script.
Hiro
If it’s the Shinsengumi Yukio and Hakkaku-san had in mind, then I look forward to it.
Kasumi
Another famous one, huh, I already feel the pressure…
Yuzo
Pull yourself together, this is a part of your job you know.
Yukio
I couldn’t directly direct “Traces of a Dream”, so I’m thrilled to be able to do it now so carefreely.
Hiro
It’s your return to Japanese theater, Yukio, we can’t afford to make it boring.
Yuzo
Guess you’re right. We got to celebrate with a banger.
Kasumi
Let’s do our best to make it exciting!
Zen
Sure, let me live up to your expectations.
Reni
Of course. The recognition of the new Fleur Award is at stake, after all.
Yukio
Good luck to us!
Based on what I discussed with Hakkaku-san, I wrote the script for each one, and the cast will be—.
Yuzo
…
Member A
Yuzo-san, that’s a script of your upcoming play, right?
Member B
I’m guessing it’s not gonna be MANKAI Company.
Yuzo
Yeah, it’s more of a collaboration, think of it as a one-time thing.
Hope you can excuse me since I’ll be away a lot while this show’s on.
Member A
It’s no problem, you can leave all the affairs to us.
Member B
I’m looking forward to Yuzo-san’s play.
Member C
What are you playing?
Member D
What’s your role, Yuzo-san?
Yuzo
It’s confidential so you can’t ever leak it, understood?
It’s Shinpachi Nagakura. I heard back then that he and Hakkaku-san decided on this role for me.
Member C
It’s Shinsengumi then! Wow, just imagining it now, it’s gonna be so cool.
Member D
He’s so skilled with a sword that Nagakura’s known as the best in Shinsengumi, I’m guessing he’d be quite the killer.
Member B
Maybe that’s exactly why they chose Yuzo-san?
Member A
Yeah…
Yuzo
I’m right here you know!
…Guess it makes sense that Shinpachi Nagakura was entrusted to me.
Yuzo
…Tch, those two guys specifically. They got no social awareness.
Yukio
Haha, everyone’s making time in their busy schedules. It can’t be helped.
Let the busybodies get along with their kind. Here, cheers.
Yuzo
That sounds more like you than anything…
Yukio
It’s been so long since I had a drink alone with you Yuzo, when was the last time?
Yuzo
It’s cause even back when we were in MANKAI Company, there’d always be someone there, it’s rare for us to be ever alone…
Yukio
That’s right, even when the two of us start drinking, there’d always be two or more people in the mix.
Speaking of, I recall talking about Shinsengumi at the drinking party, it was pretty wild then.
Yuzo
Yeah, all that talk about their favorites and what went down, the shinsengumi fanatics just yapped on and on.
Yukio
Yup, everyone had someone they were pushing for.
Yuzo
Now that I’ve been cast as Shinpachi, I gotta kill it at my swordsmanship or else those guys who wanted to play him will kill me themselves.
Yukio
You haven’t done Shinsengumi until now?
Yuzo
No, I’ve done it once in a historical drama.
At that time, I was practicing to die by a sword fight with Shinpachi, but I never thought I’d be in the opposite position.
Yukio
The ruthless killing isn’t the only reason I entrusted Shinpachi to you, Yuzo.
Nagakura Shinpachi was one of the most long-lived major Shinsengumi leaders, right?
In his later years, he left records that showed the truth about the Shinsengumi which gave people a more nuanced evaluation of them.
I’d say that quality overlaps with you, Yuzo.
From the launch of the new troupe, all the way to now, you’ve always been watching over MANKAI Company even when you’ve left.
I thought you’d be perfect for it.
Yuzo
…Is this a ploy to get me to continue watching over them, including the newborn guys?
Yukio
Fufu, watch over my daughter well.
Yuzo
Geez, you got guts asking that kind of thing lightly.
Yuzo
(...I wasn’t exactly asked to do it, it just happened naturally.)
(The two generations of parent and child. I’ll continue to watch over them until the foreseeable future.)

Kasumi’s friend :] he was the original leader of summer troupe, at Mankai company. The two of them worked together as leaders for their respective troupes(Kasumi is springs leader) until a big scandal came out about the company. After popularity in them seemed to decline, Kasumi took it as an opportunity to branch out. Hiro, however, stayed behind. One by one, each actor had left Mankai company behind, and I believe Hiro was the last of them all to leave. This soured his opinions on his time there, some of this pessimism bleeding into his conversations with the new summer troupe leader, Tenma.
Aside from that, he’s a famous actor and loving father towards his son! His son, who, has a fascination with Tenma, who happens to also be a famous actor. Later in the story, the two get to act in a movie together, to which Hiro mentions he jealous of how much his son talks about Tenma. He won’t be beaten by him! …but Tenma wasn’t really trying in the first place 😅
