"Ethereal dead wife" Kim Dokja is genuinely one of the dumbest fandom inventions because he fits that template approximately....hmmm, let me count....zero fucking percent. Like. Let's actually look at what that archetype means.

Ethereal dead wife: beautiful, tragic, exists as a memory to motivate the male lead. Passive. Things happen to her. Her suffering is aestheticized. She's a plot device.

For no damn reason people keep assigning Dokja all the passive roles possible, and even me, a person who is not a KDJ glazer, it pisses off.

Kim Dokja: spent over a decade obsessively reading about one man and it was literally his entire reason to keep living, engineered scenarios from the shadows left and right, puppeted people, planned his own erasure with the level of meticulousness some would give their damn wedding, made approximately idefk how many active choices that drove the entire narrative, and is the POV character for 500 something chapters. His "death" wasn't something that happened to him—it was something he did. Actively. Repeatedly. With full fucking agency.

He's not the dead wife. He's the guy who keeps dying because he won't stop throwing himself into danger. There's a difference.

Also, "ethereal"? This man with the emotional intelligence of a brick wall wrapped in deflection? Ethereal is more than the last thing he is.

The "went to get milk" one is genuinely the closest to canon. Dad who leaves and never comes back—except Kim Dokja keeps coming back and then leaving again. Joonghyuk isn't mourning a perfect memory, he's chasing a fucker who refuses to stop running into traffic. The "dead wife" is static, Kim Dokja is chaos. He's not a memory you romanticize, he's a recurring pain in the ass you can't live without (yjh would know /j).

He starts a nebula with Yoo Joonghyuk. Specifically and exclusively with Yoo Joonghyuk. He binds their names together publicly, in the Star Stream's official records, in front of all the constellations and incarnations present at the banquet. The last time I checked, a dead wife doesn't initiate joint ventures. She just...yep, you guessed it—dies.

The prophecy itself frames him as the lover, not the beloved.

The prophecy doesn't say the one who loved him most. It says the one HE loved most. The universe's narrative defined him by his capacity to love, not by being loved. That's not dead wife energy—that's "guy who loves so hard it kills him" energy.

When Asmodeus threatens Yoo Joonghyuk, Dokja's response as the Demon King of Salvation is don't touch my incarnation, Asmodeus. Sure, that's not possessive in the loud, "mine" way fandom loves to assign to Joonghyuk. It's quieter, it's territorial. It's you don't get to touch him. And Joonghyuk wasn't even technically considered his incarnation back then. Now sit with this fact.

A dead wife archetype doesn't do shit like that, but correct me if I'm wrong (I'm not).

"Ethereal dead wife" implies passiveness and static. Kim Dokja is neither. He's stubborn as hell, chaos-driven, and aggressively alive until he's aggressively not—and then alive again.

So yeah. The fandom wants him to be just a useless, sad beautiful memory. The novel gave us a man who spends 500 chapters being annoying on purpose and then dies anyway.

These are not the same, for fuck's sake.

(And before anyone brings up the epilogue: yes, he finally stays dead there. That's the point. After all these times of throwing himself into danger and miraculously crawling back, he doesn't come back this time. But that's not the "ethereal dead wife" archetype either. That's the culmination of a man who spent his entire existence believing he wasn't allowed to stay and he didn't deserve to be loved. He didn't die beautifully just for someone else's character development. He erased himself because he genuinely thought that was the only way he could make everyone else happy. Those are not the same x2.)

Just learned from the other ask that the story was written to conclude in 2 seasons because s3 wasn’t a sure thing. Hmmm if the story is supposed to conclude with like…10ish episodes left? I feel like a true plot conclusion WOULD end with Buddy as a human again but idk how that would play out without feeling rushed. I truly have no guesses though, truly anything could happen in the next 10 or so weeks. Guess we’ll see, just didn’t realize it’s more like a series finale even with a possible s3!

Dear Anon, I am answering this because we have heard Punko explain this in the past. Summarizing it here, the way she has explained working with Webtoon, or in any similar serialized format, is that you are on contract for only so many episodes in advance. There is a possibility to be approved for a next season and a next season after that. However, this is never guaranteed, and so each season has to be planned with this in mind. She has stated before that while she planned enough for there to be a season three, she had written the story in such a way where she could wrap up the story at the end of season two in a satisfactory way.

I'm still not over the fact that how irresponsible UA was for putting Katsuki on national TV when he was in that situation. That led him to getting kidnapped by the most dangerous villains in the country and he was in high risk of getting killed. Even after his rescue, his mental state was damaged and destroyed.

Sport festival in the first place, shouldn't be live for everyone to watch. It practically puts the students weak points and how their quirk works on blast, making them fragile to possible villains attacks. But in this case, it's even worse: UA teachers saw a kid refusing to get the medal because in his head, he didn't really earn it, and said "hmmm 🤔 we are gonna chain him on the podium like a feral animal and not only humiliate him and ruin his reputation for his future career, but also would expose him to villains who might take benefit of the situation"

They should have sent him home. Or kept him in a room with a teacher. They shouldn't have forced him to go on the podium when he didn't want to. They did it for their own ego and reputation and didn't care about the bad image this kid would be viewed later by media and society.

There's a brainless take his antis who can't form their own opinions repeat like a parrot: "he wanted to kill shoto and everyone else, they had to protect them🤡". No he didn't want to kill anyone, do you even know anything about the story? At least if you're gonna mischaracterize and dehumanize him and think he's a psycho who just kill anyone, consider this: he wants to be a hero, do you really think he'd commit a literal crime on cameras? Also there were so many pro heros and teachers there, are you implying this kid (hero in training) is going to solo all of them? Who do you think he is? Prime all might? he just didn't want to get the medal, he didn't want to accept #1 because he didn't think he actually won since shoto didn't use his whole quirk on him. He was mad at him and didn't see himself as the winner. But UA instead of sending him home or keeping him away from the podium somewhere safe with a teacher, FORCED HIM to stand on the podium and FORCED the medal on him and filmed it live and showed it to the whole world😐😐😐 UA is seriously such a trashy place lol

And no it was NOT a gag scene when it had a crucial effect on the plot and literally started a whole arc later. Shigaraki saw that scene and thought the society is restraining Katsuki and he's oppressed. by kidnapping him he seriously thought he's doing a favor to him and saving him.(well part of it was for helping him, but the other parts of his plan also stemmed from UA putting Katsuki on blast like that on TV). I hate when we talk about it ppl bring up the "hey UA girl" to mock us, when there's actually someone in canon who thought that was a wrong thing to do to a child, yes the main villain of the story, Shigaraki.

This fandom dehumanize Katsuki to the point thinking a child getting humiliated and restrained by literal chains on a podium in front of the whole world is sth to gloss over.

In conclusion, UA has a responsibility to protect its students from these type of threats but instead they exposed Katsuki to them. That school has so many problems and they were never solved lol

Also if anyone thinks a child deserves to get beaten or chained like that as a punishment for bad behavior, 1. Reread the remedial arc it was explained this type of treatment is WRONG, 2. You're messed in the head and pls stay away from kids.

As I vaguely mentioned at the end of my last post, as I was doing research on Erica Sinclair and her DND alter ego Lady Applejack, I made several interesting discoveries on the My Little Pony Wiki that took me back to Season 3.

While I personally enjoyed S3 for its humor and embracing of 80s maximalism while simultaneously depicting the emotional turmoil and awkwardness of growing up, it's considered by many to be the least popular season (second now to S5, probably).

But in light of everything else I've learned about the show (and where it might be going) through the prism of #Bobgate, something told me to dive deeper into Applejack, the *orange* My Little Pony character Erica's DND name came from. Specifically, her G1 iteration (right side) from the 80s, when Erica was watching.

Except, this version of Applejack only ever appeared once in the first generation of MLP... In the TV special Rescue at Midnight Castle.

I know nothing about My Little Pony, so thank goodness Erica and Dustin had time to specifically talk about that episode while crawling through a secret Russian bunker.

The Moochik's symbol is a mushroom (fungus that can spread/grow like the UD spores/vines/hive @lilialunaa, @byler-post-shitshow, @dawnschild) + his familiar/companion is a white rabbit.

And the Moochik, like the Proud Princess, tells the Ponies what they need to stop Tirac...

What happens next?

Wait a damn minute -- Scorpan frees Ember with Spike and joins forces with the Ponies???

Could this confirm that Henry (ala Proud Princess) will eventually help the Party as well? With his memories restored, and Holly and Bob in tow?

This is more of a technical question about Hitmen Stories than really about the characters or the plot, but I wanted to ask just to get an idea. Sorry to be super forward, but in the game, if you choose to play as an MC with a vagina, will it lock you into only using it or would the 'backdoor' also be available? I mainly ask due to my MC being a trans man who would get pretty dysphoric if he had sex that way. Of course, I wouldn't want to put strain on the coding as that would make the process quite difficult, so I understand if it will be locked to only that front area. I do still plan to play it even so, I am just very curious about technical things in visual novel games when it comes to character creators.

Hmmm... I am planning on people being able to customize their gender and sex options, but I genuinely hadn't considered this. I did plan on the front being the default, yeah, but I'll see if I can do more customization of sex scenes because it really is a tricky balance.

I feel like with customized sex scenes, the standard with popular sex games have been to be able to choose everything you do with each of your body parts (Degrees of Lewdity, Course of Temptation, and even something obscure like Lilith's Throne comes to mind). While I'm okay with that feature, I often find that it completely sucks the eroticism in scenes, makes encounters generic, and it becomes a insert A into B situation.

My plan was to prioritize creating 'scenes' more, where the personality of the character you're having sex with shines through, and it'll only have variations with what you choose in the creator screen. I'll have to figure out how to be able to choose preferences in scenes without some pop-up interrupting the flow like "Where should X put it?", you know what I mean? But, I think you do raise a pretty interesting point too... It's no fun if it ruins immersion in the scene.

I'm now considering a dedicated Sexual Preferences options screen now that you can tab into in the game menu... Maybe in that screen, you can turn off kinks you're not into, and set genital preferences in sex scenes. With how sex scenes are going to be coded, that might be a good option!

TBHX episode 19 rant (everything except that last bit)

Because that last bit will end up taking over everything if not, it gets its own post here.

The first major point of note I have is the fact that for the conclusion of the Johnnies' arc, this didn't have much of the Johnnies. I genuinely expected some more insights as to Sheng's death, what happened in the forest that night (I still believe there's more details we're missing), and Big Johnny's origins.

Even if that wasn't the case, I'd have been happy if we just had more focus on the Johnnies as a whole, instead of getting swept up in the wider plot, purely for the sake of this being their arc and I want these two adorables to get their screentime.

However, that being said, the wider plot is juicy. Let's break it down in terms of discoveries.

The Spotlight Organisation is established, but not known to the public yet. However, we know that it'll be a prominent entity by the LO, just two years from now

A random errant thought on how fear affects existing powers. With God Eye, his powers ampilified. Same, supposedly, with Bowa. Yet, with Shindig, it apparently inverted. Hmmm

It's interesting to see how high Mo Sha ranks on the pecking order (and lowkey hilarious considering we know he's an idiot)

Professor Luo is throwing up more red flags by the episode. This is a remarkably pessimistic outlook on things:

And even if the outlook is valid (pessimism is a valid way of observation after all), his solution is ringing alarm bells in my head. Doesn't it sound very...automaton-y? Idk prof, what you're saying sounds a lot like mind control and mindless clones.

The system is flawed, and very obviously. But I'm not sure this is the answer.

Rock is a diabolical little liar. You little shit

There's an argument to be made that Rock was telling the truth and it was Sheng who erred, but for one thing, we know Rock is not above lies and manipulation and two, he's contradicting himself.

He implies to Mo Sha that Big Johnny is the result of Sheng using his powers to create life, but then makes it obvious the moment he gets in the car that he knows Big Johnny came off the spaceship. Therefore Rock, J'Accuse…!

YANG CHENG is the one who survived!

I mean, it definitely doesn't sound like OG E-Soul, and apparently YC is all too happy to be Rock's pawn now. He casually discusses ending Mo Sha, just like that. On the one hand, I appreciate the duality of E-Soul and Ghostblade, public heroes and private villains. On the other hand, I want to wring some necks.

Lucky Cyan wasn't a planned addition to the vacation

Several things: First, cute. Queen, rely on your friends, it's healthy! Plus, you'll need them when you find out what your dad's been doing. Second, Mickey wanted to only send Queen to control this hot mess of a situation. Either he's setting her up to fail/die or he massively underestimated how much of a shitshow this would be. Third, Lucky Cyan will be the only true wildcard in play.

I wonder how having a luck-based wildcard in play within a ship that negates both trust and fear would pan out. One would assume that this would give Cyan an immense advantage, just like Luo Li.

Aside from the heftier bits of lore, there's little moments that stuck out:

Nuonuo and Mo Sha seem to be genuinely trying. A bit disappointed we never got to know whether they had a conversation or what, but they do seem to be trying to get to know each other

This was everything. Just, gahhhh

This entire alien ship is a setup. They are so going to 1) lose communication completely, 2) make the ship collapse, and 3) get attacked by aliens or whatever from the other hibernation pods, which are being hinted at way, way too much by this point

Is Big Johnny getting a signal? Is it the aforementioned other aliens?

Did Little Johnny know Mo Sha was right there trying to assasinate him? Wtf
