I have a question! As far as I know, pwBPD have a favorite person, pwASPD have a special person, and people with NPD have an equal person.

Do pwHPD have something like that?

Hi! Yes! There are various words for that :-)

Attention Person: someone who the pwHPD gets a consistent supply of attention from and values their attention above everyone else’s. Usually also the person that can Make or Break the pwHPDs mood. It’s basically the Special Person(TM) term for the pwHPD.

Attentive Person: someone who the pwHPD can get attention from. Their attention isnt valued above everyone else’s but it still counts as valuable supply to them.

Spotlight Person: someone the pwHPD is comfortable sharing their spotlight with.

I quite forgot what the Negatively Impacted persons term is since I use a different set of terms (it’s these ones incase you’re curious) and only rlly use AP for myself.

Anyone have any resource on hpd that isn't just the very surface level textbook DSM criteria? It sounds a lot like my experiences so far but I know the DSM by itself is not enough for me to make an accurate self dx or any judgement off of.

HPD

Attention seeking and emotional instability are the primary symptoms

People with HPD may seek any attention, whether it's positive or negative

They may be uncomfortable when not receiving attention

They often consider relationships to be very important

NPD

Grandiosity, self-centeredness, and a desire for admiration are the primary symptoms

People with NPD are more likely to seek validation and admiration specifically

They may experience "crashes" when their ego is damaged

They may devalue relationships
