while shane wants to be bred by ilya he only wants it for nasty sex reasons and would abort any chance of pregnancy.

ilya on the other hand would carry that baby to term as a stay at home parent while shane is out being the breadwinner.

People saying that Shane has no childhood trauma in contrast to Ilya's obvious abuse and home life is first of all crazy and second of all it is not a competition.

Also people saying stuff like this have probably not had emotionally distant helicopter parents who got so used to managing their kid's life from an early age well into an established and strict system into adulthood and it shows.

Everything from their brunch to Shane resting at his parents' house to the penultimate coming out and emotional talk with Yuna is on her terms. Every. Single. Time. She sets the rules about the interactions, she makes assumptions, she decides when are emotions enough.

She is also his real life manager in his career, I'm not surprised Shane has never learned to set boundaries with his parents.

(Just an aside, but Shane melting down at the dinner table is usually talked about in the terms of Ilya grounding him and calling himself Shane's boyfriend which is the joyous part we need to recognise but the shutdown was caused by Yuna locking in on presenting and rattling off the best plans and contingencies for their future - somewhat understandable - while her son has been crying and apologising TO HER for being who he is like 15 minutes ago)
