I’m a video game developer that has Hypertropia, but that only actually flares-up when I’m under-slept, or when I’m spending too much time staring at screens.

My Hypertropia causes my left eye to *drift* upwards instead of maintaining alignment with my right eye. Most of the time it’s invisible, as the muscles condensate and keep them lined up correctly. When those muscles start to get too tired though, my left eye starts to tap out and I start seeing double. It’ll start by going out of alignment when I blink or turn to look at my other monitor, and then take a few seconds to straighten out. Eventually they become misaligned unless I’m exerting myself to keep them aligned, and eventually my left eye just goes awol.

Treatment? *I go to sleep*. I lucked out in that my case is pretty mild, and just resting my eye muscles is enough to go back to normal. There are some changes that I can try with my glasses that could help too, but I see my limits with my vision here as a blessing rather than something I want to correct in that way.

I basically have a built-in fail safe for over working. If I don’t sleep enough, or if I don’t take enough breaks, I effectively become blinded until I rest, since seeing double makes it almost impossible to read and type (which is most of my work).

How did you puncture an artery?

alrightie sit down its storytime. 

So a friend of mine and I were at my house in my basement, and i don’t know why tf i had my thread scissors but I did. Unlike many scissors that have rounded tips, thread scissors are very very pointy, and very sharp. So my friend and I do the sensible thing any 17 year old would do in this situation and play with them. 

Don’t do that.

He was pointing the scissors at me and I was swatting them away, like two intelligent people would do. After a bit of that though, the scissors were pointing up, and in a my rush of swatting, I slammed my hand down on them at full force. I pull my hand back up and I’m holding a pool of blood in my hand. Friend starts to panic as I have to use my other hand as well to hold the rising pool of blood. (i didn’t feel anything though, that was weird. 

There wasn’t any arterial spray or anything so that was disappointing, but i did lose maybe 3/4s- a cup of blood in 15 seconds. And that’s the only reason why I know there’s an artery in the palm of your hand.

TL;DR: I can feel my heartbeat through the palm of my left hand now
