idk not to keep harping on this but it does really piss me off that a lot of people are saying "oh valencina would say slurs so it's justified!" like you're responding to what is ultimately a doylist problem with watsonian justifications. the problem is not that a character says a slur, nor is it whether or not it's in character for her to say this. the problem is that the english translation team decided to have her say the r slur-- a word that is trying to make a comeback into the common lexicon right now despite people having been advocating for it to not be used for decades-- twice, and didn't think "hey maybe we should censor this or something". this is an order of magnitude larger than any of the ableism limbus company has previously portrayed (and i would argue that they handled that in a largely tasteful manner? considering the inquisitors are like literally nazis), and it wasn't even necessary. they didn't use it so that they could reflect on don quixote's or ryoshu's abuse and their feelings about that any further; it's just there to show us that valencina is an asshole. which is something that has already been exhaustively demonstrated and was never up for debate. yes, she would say slurs; no, i don't think it was necessary to actually type out the full slur twice without even an upgrade to the game's warnings.
you watch a knight of the seven kingdoms and you hear that lyonel’s character was a bit embellished upon compared to the books. and then you start the books and you see that his character and everything he does outside of the trial of the seven was basically conjured out of thin air. and the only other thing in the show that’s expanded upon as much as this is dunk’s flashback to fleabottom. so now you have two elements of this show that are heavily expanded upon, that draw attention in the same way; ser arlan, the first knight to take dunk into his service and lyonel, the first knight who’s service dunk refuses. and these things are framed with equal importance!! both were deemed worthy enough to dedicate a not insignificant amount screen time to!!
i definitely believe dunk compares himself to arlan, with how he tries to embody arlan’s teaching style, how he tries to give egg what arlan gave him. but i see the most similarities between arlan and lyonel; both drunks, both unbothered, both men who keep moving forward, both see a just cause and get behind it without hesitation, both men who met dunk once and essentially swore themselves to him. but dunk never left arlan, and he never joins lyonel to begin with. two men nearly the same in all but station, and dunk can’t take the same path he took before, can’t be the loyal subordinate any longer. he has a baby dragon to teach. he has to be the knight now, has to let himself grow and let go of his childhood fantasy of serving a great lord and earning glory
Please be kind to me im still getting used to drawing these sillies. Also I wonder if anyone can guess who my favorite character is with these drawings
Also I crown myself CEO of Birthdaycake (Looey x Cosmo) because I DONT SEE IT ANYWHERE…
hey guys so im actually the duffers' secret estranged triplet and i can confirm that after mike closed the basement door he changed his mind and ran after will, yelled "wait!" and grabbed his arm, then as will spun around mike pulled him in for a big kiss. after that they left hawkins together to go and create comic books and play games for the rest of their lives in their 'new party' (just the two of them) while blasting smalltown boy on the radio. byler is endgame!
