can't stop thinking about quirk marriage au! with tenya iida.
with villains becoming stonger as the years go on, the iida family realise they will need to toughen up if they want their future generations to stand a chance at becoming decent heroes. especially after what happened to tensei.
to preserve their prestigious lineage, they arrange a quirk marriage for tenya, with a reader whose quirk is related to stamina or durability, in hopes to bear offspring who are both fast and hardy. reader comes from a poor background so they agree in exchange for money to support their family.
at first the marriage feels very much like business and tenya treats it as such; respecting you as much as he would a co-worker. which, albeit, is a lot but he doesn't care about you the way a husband should. he opens doors for you and will help you with household chores and is generally nurturing during your pregnancy, but he has no interest in sharing a bedroom or even eating dinner together. because he may be the father to your child, but he's not your friend.
it goes on like that for a while, until one day he hears you crying in your room. he's not monster, so of course he checks on you to see what the issue is, and you explain to him that you're afraid of what will happen if your child doesn't inherit a composite quirk. if you would be replaced and left to care for it on your own. he reassures you that he'd never abandon you or his child, and that the two of you could always try again. success doesn't come easy.
however, the moment of vulnerablitiy he shared with you was exactly that — a moment. afterwards, he immediately went back to being stern and distant, which contributed you putting up walls to protect your feeling from if he were to ever disappoint you again in the future. like a mantra that repeated in your mind constantly, he doesn't love you and you don't love him.
he never picked up on your increased resistance though, not until three years after the birth of your child and they began displaying signs of a fusion quirk. he turned to you, delighted, and you appeared relieved too, but he was left gawking incredulously after you said, "how lucky. thank the lord we don't need to have another child. one was hard enough."
hearing that caused his heart to drop, as he realised who he had become and the cumulative impact his behaviour has had on you. how could his own wife depise him to that extent? this question haunted him because he knew the answer, he just never had the strength to confront it before.
he had to do something to fix it, now. loving him wasn't necessary, but he needed to prove to you his worth as a father and a husband. he did his best to attend every single one of your kid's baseball games with you, he'd buy you a new bouquet of flowers every week, he'd kiss you on the cheek as a show of affection, whenever you needed a self-care day he'd arrange time-off work, he'd take the family out to the aquarium and the zoo and disneyland and wherever you pleased.
but none of it was ever enough to penetrate your rigid defences. despite his best efforts, he was left with a wife that hates him and child that may grow up to resent him. what a legecy he has paved.
one night, he is sat in bed, doing some light reading before he goes to sleep, when his child sulks into the room. they explain they had a nightmare and want to sleep in their dad's bed tonight. of course tenya agrees and usually there isn't any problems, but tonight the child continued to stir, until they requested, "can mommy sleep here too?"
tenya blinked. usually he would bend over backwards to cheer up his kid, especially as they are having sleep troubles, but this is a bit more complicated as you might be opposed to the idea. however, there was no harm in trying, so tenya sent the kid to your room to ask if it was okay with you.
and of course, you adore your child with everything you have, so if sleeping with your useless husband is what it takes to help them rest soundly, then so be it. you trudge into tenya's room and plop down on the queen-sized bed, with your beloved baby nuzzled between you two. it actually wasn't as awkward as you initially thought, and all three of you are lulled off into the serene night.
tenya woke up before you, so he was the first to realise that your child had snuck off in the middle of the night, while the two of you subconciously cuddled each other. hence, he had you wrapped in his strong arms, with your face nuzzled into his chest.
even with bedhead and a bit drool smudged on your cheek, he thought, you were still so beautiful. so much so, he couldn't help but smile and protectively tighten his grip on you. so funny too. sarcastic yet sickeningly sweet and caring.
had things been different, he wondered if the two of you would've truly been in love. he reckons so; you really are his type, and the perfect girl, which is something he's realising all too late. he blames the circumstances and wishes more than anything that the two of you could've met organically, because although he isn't the best husband, he would give anything to have been your boyfriend.
doesn’t want to love you because he’s just doing this because his parents told him.
he doesn’t want to love you because you were engaged to each other since you were five. when he first seen your big pretty eyes, hues that rival those of a goddess.
he doesn’t want to love you because he’s his father’s son, and he doesn’t like to disappoint.
he doesn’t want to love you so he pushes you away when you start to get close. no matter how many nights he find himself tangled with you in a battle for the covers, no matter how many times he catches himself staring.
he doesn’t want to love you but when he’s standing at the gate of your school and sees you laughing with your classmate, he can’t help but get jealous.
he doesn’t want to love you, but he does anyway.
he loves you, so he gives you every very ounce of affection he carries.
he loves you, so he forces his parents’ hands and moved the wedding date sooner. much..sooner
Summary: Exams are coming up, and Y/N asks help from her long-time bestfriend Iida. But it seems like Iida is taking this tutor help too seriously, too much that Y/N can’t take it. Can Iida run back to how things used to be? (Featuring Monoma)
The bell rings and everyone sighs. Y/N cleans up her desk, her notebooks filled with everything she could fit, but even after all her listening and attentiveness, nothing has processed in her head. All her pencils are now dull and the pages of her notebook are crumpled with her failed attempts at erasing mistakes. The book rustles and crumples as she angrily stuffed them into her bag.
“Don’t torture the innocent trees for your stupidity, Y/N.” Monoma says as a joke. Easily replied with a middle finger, which made him shut up. “Good luck anyway, just call when you need it.” He winks. He’s smart, yes, he could be friendly too, but he just chooses to be an asshole. Dealing with him as a classmate is just as bad as dealing with a toddler. He slaps Y/N at the back on her neck, as he usually does as their way of annoying each other.
As soon as she steps out of your classroom, she spots the one and only top scorer, Tenya Iida. He’s smart, and Y/N is another story. Which makes them a good duo…before. Nowadays, it seems like they’re just neighbors. But time to make use of their relationship they used to have.
She walks up to him as he parts from his green-haired friend. “Iida!” She chants, giving him a small wave. They used to call each other by first names but Y/N felt like they weren’t close enough to talk that way anymore.
He looks a bit shocked and looks around, “L/N! How are you?” He smiles at her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
“That’s exactly what I wanted to talk to you about. Haha…” Her eyes avoids his from both embarrassment and the beat in her heart. That’s right, even after growing apart ever since the last year of elementary school, her heart beats for her childhood playmate.
He looks at her with worry, “What’s wrong?”
“No! It’s not a big problem! It’s just…you know…the usual.” She clears her throat, sweat building up on her forehead and palms.
At first he’s confused, not remembering what “the usual” is. It isn’t until Y/N shows him her recent homework and mock tests that it clicks. “I couldn’t say I didn’t expect it from you, L/N.”
“Ouch.” Her heart cracks a little. “Is this what you think of me?”
He sighs, “How did it go this far? Why didn’t you tell me?” He folds up her paper and takes her by the shoulders. “I will tutor you! I will help you! Like I used to! It’s the weekend tomorrow, you can come by and we’ll study.”
Their walk home felt like old times, talking about their own loud, blonde, and aggressive classmate, or talking about how much they haven’t spoken in a while.
“Gosh L/N, how tall have you grown?” He laughs noticing the difference between them.
She gives him a look, “Are we supposed to talk about me, mister buff guy? What have they been feeding you?” she nudges him.
They laugh together, “No, I meant about how much you’ve changed. You used to be so lonely but now you’re so lively.”
“I didn’t change everything about me.” Y/N sighs. “But hey, I’m happy you have friends now. I remember when you and I-”
“Ah! Shush! Shush!” He covers her mouth as a way to keep her from talking about the most embarrassing things he used to do. “Anyway, this is me. Stay safe, and I’ll see you tomorrow, okay? Your grades need my help for sure!” He waves to her as she disappears from his sight.
She gets home and sighs immediately, how did it end up this way? “It’s not a date, just a study date.” she tells her pillow. But how did it end up this way? How did her fairly average grades turn into a pot of steaming shit? No one knows, it was like a switch was flipped to make her mind just stop receiving studies. Was it her hero training? Was it because she was focusing more on her training? No, she was just an average hero.
It didn’t help that her parents constantly compared her to Iida. But no matter the amount of comparison between them, she still remembered how good of a listener he was. How good he was at pushing the swing when they played or how stupid he was when playing hide and seek. How cool piggyback rides were when he told her about his newly discovered quirk. Maybe it was the reason she couldn’t help but feel happy for him after every success he had, the reason she gives him a slight bow when they pass by at the hallway. Maybe their childhood relationship was the reason her chest beats like the bass during a concert when he smiles at her or messages her for her rare achievements.
“Just suck it up and get better!” She tells herself.
Tomorrow -
The doorbell rings, Iida’s mom opens the door and gleefully smiles at her. “Oh my god, Y/N?! How long has it been since I last saw you?! Come give me a hug!” She pulled her into a tight squeeze, much to the dismay of Iida, who was tending to his brother. As soon as Tensei heard her name, he wheeled himself to the front door and called out to her, much to the dismay of his younger brother once again.
“Are you really her? No, this can’t be little Y/N! You’ve grown!” he comments.
“You’re acting like you haven’t seen her in years.” Iida sighs.
The two Iida’s turn to him with a glare, “It’s cause we haven’t!” they said to him.
“Tell me you’re staying for dinner! I can’t wait for your father to-”
“That’s enough! L/N, come, let’s work on your studies.” He pulls her by the arm to his room. He takes off his glasses and rubs his eyes, “I apologize for them, but let’s get started, shall we? There’s a lot to work on, afterall.” A smile appears on his lips, which Y/N replied the same with.
It’s been 3 hours, and the two seem like they’re just not getting along. Y/n’s head is on the table while Iida’s was on his hands. “L/N. It’s an easy question. What is the chemical composition of gold?” Iida says for the 100th time.
“Iida. I don’t know.” her voice muffled from the table.
“L/N, we can’t do this if you’re not even trying. Are you trying to fail this class?” He chuckles, almost condescendingly, placing his fists on the table. The papers are scattered, the mock tests Iida had prepared have X marks all over them.
“I’m trying, Iida. Sorry I don’t have a big brain.” Y/N tries to joke but deep inside, she just wants to get out of there. After all the half-hearted “jokes” Iida has been throwing at her throughout the 3 hours, she’s had enough.
“Maybe this is why you’re in 1-B instead of 1-A.”
“What?”
“If you tried harder, you would’ve been in the same class as me. This is why you didn’t get in Soumei, with me.” He sighs.
Y/N lifts her head up, “Thanks, Iida. For throwing that in. Really helpful.”
“Good. May that serve as an inspiration to you.” His hands turns a page on his book. “Now, let’s-”
“I think I’m done. I’ll try again tomorrow. Thanks.” Y/N scoops up her stuff and crumples them into her bag quickly, hiding her shame and the tears welling up in her eyes.
“Are you seriously giving up? Didn’t we used to say to never give up? You really have changed.” Iida tries to stop her, holding her bag.
“Yeah, and you haven’t! You’re still so egotistical and think so highly of yourself! When I say I’m done, I’m done! So I thank you for your help, but I don’t want it anymore!” She tugs on the sleeve he has his grip on.
“L/N! L/N!” His voice fades away as she shuts his door and heads downstairs.
“Y/N? Are you- Hey, what’s wrong?” Tensei tried to console her as the tears were already dripping down her angry and embarrassed face. “Y/N!” he pleads to her again, and so was their mother, but she was already out the door.
What people don’t know about Iida is that he was truthful, too much that it hurt. The way he would point out Y/N’s flaws when they would practice their quirks together when they were kids, or how much higher of a grade he got compared to hers. She would come back home with her self-esteem lower than before she left to go see her playmate. Maybe it was the reason she didn’t mind as much when Iida started coming to the playground less. Maybe the constant mention of his name when it came to her grades was the reason she didn’t feel the need to call out to him when they met eyes during the entrance exam.
Nevertheless, she’s done with trying to rekindle their…whatever it may be. She went home and stuffed all her notes down the trash, screaming at how frustrated she was at herself. Iida, in the meantime, was just mad at her for getting mad while he was just trying to help. Even after plenty of scolding and yells from his family that what he was saying was wrong, he finds no fault in only stating the harsh truth.
Monday comes again and they only have 1 week before their exams, Y/N has given up. Her notes were empty and her motivation is just as low as her ankles.
“Gosh, Y/N. You gave up in life or something?” Monoma chatters to her.
“Yeah.” she mutters, closing her empty notebook.
Monoma smiles but it drops noticing she was serious, he loudly scoots his seat next to her and opens it. “Sheesh, what is this? Your dignity? Listen, Y/N, the exams are coming up and now is not the time for your mind to go anywhere else. Here, take my notes, you’ll need it.” Monoma raises his arm to slap her at the back of his head but instead of a harsh playful hit, her hair is played with for a second. But as Y/N looks up, he’s already at the other side of the classroom, talking with the rest. When he spots her looking at him, he points to his notebook and ushers her to read, mouthing “Read, idiot!” to her. Y/N scoffs but does as told and studies. His notes were weirdly short but much more understandable, often having additional unnecessary stuff added it, which made it more rememberable.
When the bell rang, Y/N is met with a smack, “Give me back my notes, you must’ve remembered some stuff by now.” he rolls his eyes.
“Come on, let me keep it for longer!” Y/N pleads, gripping the notebook tightly.
“Hey! I need to study too!” He pretends to yell and get upset, they wrestle for it for a while.
Iida, in the meantime, walks out his classroom door, seeing the two fighting. He smiles, remembering how they used to playfight too. He’s happy to see her making…friends. They’re friends, right? Huh, why’s she making friends with a mean guy like Monoma?
Monoma sighs and gives up, “Fine, fine. How about we both study? Hm?” He smiles, pulling her bag and carries it for him.
“Are you serious?” she plays, stomping on his foot.
“Why would she get taught by you when she has me?” a deep voice called from behind. They turn around to see Iida. “You can come-”
“It’s fine, Iida. Come on, Mo, let’s see how good you really are in teaching.” Y/N loops her arm around his and he scoffs and boasts how good he is in everything. Like what they…used to do. Huh, why didn’t she do that when they were walking home the other day?
It continued continuously, day after day she would reject Iida’s offers and goes with someone else, most of the time Monoma, who would sling his arm around her shoulders.
“L/N, my mom-”
“Hold on, Iida. Monoma is trying to explain something.”
Or some other days, Y/N doesn’t even acknowledge his messages.
Iida Tenya: If you need help, I’m here.
Iida Tenya: My notes are also available here for you.
Iida Tenya: Just so you know.
L/N Y/N: Ok.
It seems like she’s found a new bestfriend, slash rival. Like Iida used to be. Iida comes home wrecked, his muscles are sore, his head is Y/N, her legs are tired and, his head is Y/N. It seems like her new relationship with Monoma is tipping him off his usual self. And it seems like he found a day to fix it. As he was heading home, he overheard a little conversation as he passed by.
“Gee, Monoma. I think I’m good on my own. Thanks, either way, man!” She patted Monoma on the back.
“Don’t fail the exams or else you’ll have to compensate me for the time I gave you. As your teacher, I will be very disappointed, Y/N.” He fake cries as he messes her hair up to make her look trashed.
“Eh?! Seriously?!” Her feet take a step back, Monoma laughs and shakes his head, telling her it was just a joke. “Well, I’ll be at the library. Bye!”
Iida watches as Y/N walks the other way, heading to the library. Monoma walks his way, and Iida takes him by the arm. “What is your relationship with L/N?” Iida blurts out.
Monoma smiles an evil grin, as he usually does, “Oh? What does the representative of 1-A have to say me? And why should you care about my own classmate. Y/N is my classmate, not yours. Shouldn’t I ask you why you’re even asking about her?”
“She’s a very important person to me. And I must know what your relationship with her is. For her safety.” His grip tightens, but loosens as he notices a few of their classmates looking at them.
Monoma laughs, pulling his grip away from him. “Important person, ha! My, my. You’re delusional, aren’t you? She may be important to you, but are you important to her? Clearly not because she’s treating you like a clingy speck of lint.” The blonde swings his bag to his bag and give him a look. “It’s none of your business. And if you must know, you should just forget about her.”
Iida watches as the blonde walks away, silently enraged. And now, Iida is laying on his bed, the night has set and he’s wondering what to do to get his friend back. He takes his phone and checks her page, where she would post daily about where she was. He has blocked her profile momentarily to avoid seeing pictures of them together in a cafe or library or any picture with both of them within 2 meters of each other. He unblocked her and looked at her page, she was at the library. Still at the library. He gets up, gets his coat and walks out the door, heading for the library.
Y/N slams her head onto her notebook, “Almost done. Almost done” she thought to herself, she flipped the next page over and started answering whatever questions were there.
“L/N.” she heard from above her, she looked up and saw a familiar blue haired man.
She sighed, rubbing her eyes, “Iida, it’s 9pm. I think you’re late for your curfew.” she continued her writing.
“What are you still doing here?” he panted.
“Guy with a running quirk is tired from running, gosh.” She thought, “I’m trying to finish something. I’ll be okay.”
Suddenly, her notebook was shut with a loud TWACK as it hit the table. “Go home, L/N. It’s late.” he instructed, putting her stuff inside her bag before swinging it behind him.
She stood up and pulled him out the library, away from anyone who could be there. “Why are you doing this, huh? Is this your way of showing me that I need you? Hm? Well, guess what, Tenya Iida. I don’t!” She retorted, pulling her bag from him.
“I’m only looking out for you, L/N.” He tells her.
“No, you’re not. You’re looking for someone to make yourself feel better. When you found out I was slipping on my grades, you wanted to be closer to me than ever before. But when we had almost equal grades when we were younger, you barely reached out. You forgot about me. You just want to be around someone who’s lower than you.” Y/N walks away from him but he holds her arm tight.
“You’re misunderstanding things, I care about you. And I want to help-”
“Help, Iida? By saying that I’m stupid and how I wasn’t smart enough to get into your school? How I’m lazy and ill-witted? Great help. Such great help, Iida. I get it, I’m pathetic, but I asked for help and you used it to dig it into my skin.”
“But I can help you! In a way Monoma never can!” Iida yells back.
Y/N takes a step back and laughs a little, “Is this what it’s all about? Are you mad that someone else is much more helpful than you? Are you mad that you’re no longer my only friend?”
“No, that’s not it! That’s not it at all!”
“Then, what?! What is it?!”
“I can’t stand seeing you with him!” He takes her by the shoulders, pulling her close. Y/N is confused, her eyes widening and her brows raising. But not for long, her brows furrowed and she pushed him away.
“I can’t do this right now, Iida. Let’s talk after the exams. I can’t have you as a distraction when I’m so close to actually succeeding.”
It’s now Friday of the next week since their fight, they haven’t spoken nor laid eyes on one another. She’s now at her home, alone since her parents have decided to have a date night, making you gag from their love. She laid on the couch, watching whatever may be on the television as she eats a biscuit. Too tired and lazy to cook dinner for herself. The couch vibrates which she feels, she reaches her phone with her leg, kicking it and catching it quickly.
She barely got a moment to say hello when she heard the familiar voice, “I’m at your gate, can we please talk?” Iida mutters by the phone. Y/N jumps from the couch and peeks at the window, where the boy is standing there, under the god damn rain. She shuts the phone off and opens the gate for him.
She pulls him into the umbrella she brought, “Let’s talk here, my house is a bit of a mess. This will be quick, right?” Y/N tells him.
He takes a deep breath, “I- I don’t- L/N, I-” He stutters, he plays a little with his fingers. “L/N, I’m sorry…for everything I’ve done since we were kids. I’ve been so selfish and shallow and I don’t think about what I say. I really thought I was helping but I didn’t stop to consider your feelings. I’ve been a terrible friend and I don’t deserve to even show my face in front of you.”
Y/N only looks down at the ground, thinking about what he was saying.
“I was so desperate for you to stay with me here at UA that I wanted to do everything for you to pass the exams. But my help just hurt you more, I realized that you being with me might just hurt you even more. I’m sorry, L/N.” She looks up at him and he looks at her.
“Iida, I don’t want to stop being friends with you. I never did. And I’m glad you understand my feelings. But you don’t get to decide how I’ll feel about you. Yes, I’m upset. So upset that I want to break all your glasses. But I won’t lie by saying I didn’t think about you for all these years, even after we grew apart. You don’t get to decide that you being with me will be so bad you won’t even try.” Y/N tells him sternly.
Iida’s breathing grows unsteady, “Does this mean-”
“This doesn’t mean I forgive you for what you’ve done. I’m just saying that…I want to be with you again.” She gives him a look, he immediately pulls her into a hug and tears fell onto her shoulder, her umbrella being knocked off her hand.
“Iida!”
“I’ll be better, I will. I’m so sorry, L/N. I’m so so sorry.” Y/N pats his back and hug him tighter. The rain showers them wet, she immediately turns the knob to the door and lets him in.
Immediately, she pulls him to the couch and leaves to go to the bathroom. When she comes back, his hands are on his face. She drapes a towel over his head and a blanket on his shoulders. “I can stay ‘til the rain passes. I’ll set up the ro-” He pulls her hand to stop her from leaving.
“I’m sorry.” he mutters under his breath.
“Yes, you’ve said that…many many times. I get it. And I said-”
“I like you, Y/N. I couldn’t bear seeing you with him cause I want you with me.” he mutters, his head still down. Y/N stands there in shock, her heart beating fast.
“I want you to stay in UA with me. Please stay. Stay.” Y/N senses how weird he’s speaking and tips his head up and presses her hand on his forehead.
“For god sake’s, Tenya! How long were you standing in the rain for?!” Y/N yells at him.
“For how long it’ll take.” he replies. Y/N rolls her eyes.
“I brought you some of my dad’s clothes, get dressed. Stay for the night so you’ll get better.”
He got dressed and you lay him down the sofa, spreading out a blanket for him and placed a towel on his head.
“Drink you medicine. Come on, Iida.”
“Call me, Tenya. Like we used to, Y/N. I want to be better for you. And when you’re ready, I want to start a relationship with you.” He blabbers, his face straight and serious but red and flushed.
“Okay, Tenya. But first, get better for me, okay? I like you, too.”
tee… ‘m here on behalf of the iida simps and i remember us being promised a drabble, you‘ve been slacking, babe. where is it!!! >:( /j
𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐊 | 𝐈𝐈𝐃𝐀 𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐘𝐀.
you and iida both think the other talks too much, but not for the same reasons. he thinks you have too little regard for what you say and who you say it to, and you think he chatters too much about rules and all those other things you don’t really care for. and maybe iida tenya is a bit of a know it all, and maybe he’s a bit of an entitled and bossy pain that you can’t seem to shake, but he’s also quite sweet when you look under the surface, and perhaps you don’t mind the sound of his voice as much as you think you do.
“that is an absolutely unacceptable outfit to wear in this weather,” he huffs at you, eyebrows scrunching in distaste at your attire. why is your jacket so thin? and where is your scarf? and you’re supposed to be wearing gloves—it’s snowing, anyone responsible enough would know to wear gloves. and clearly, iida is utterly distressed by your clothing choice, but you’re not too thrilled he’s sticking his nose into your business.
“what is it to you, iida?”
“who in their right mind leaves the house dressed like this? it’s snowing,” he emphasizes the last part with a dramatic wave of his hand at the white flecks of snow falling over your heads.
you roll your eyes—because really, iida always points out the obvious, and he always makes a fuss over it too.
“i know it’s snowing,” you grumble. “i can clearly see the snow. it’s piling up on your glasses,” you point out flatly, and instantly, he takes them off his face to dust the snow piling up on the edge of his frames. you catch a glimpse of his dark blue eyes, and they make you still for a second. you dont think you’ve ever noticed how deep of a shade of blue they are, and you also notice that his eyes lashes are long—annoyingly so, and you almost want to rip them out for being so much prettier than your own.
“being so underdressed in this weather could get you sick,” he says sternly, “and then you’ll have to skip on patrols to recover. you could get civilians sick if you show up you know, and—”
you purse your lips at his incessant babbling—he sure does love to hear himself speak. “oh really? wow, that’s a neat little fun fact. thanks for sharing,” you say sarcastically, and he huffs, cheeks puffing up in that little way only iida tenya does when he’s frustrated. or he’s being mouthed off to. or both, like right now, for instance.
you didn’t want to be stuck having to routinely patrol this area of the city with iida, but pro hero work’s not easy. it’s always one thing after another of things you really don’t want to do—but what choice do you have? and more importantly, there’s no way to avoid iida tenya. he’ll find a way right back like a boomerang, and he might as well hit your head while he’s at it, maybe that’ll give you less of a headache than the constant ringing of his voice in your ears.
but you’ve grown accustomed to iida. you’re used to leaving your apartment exactly at 7:35 sharp to meet him on time, he hates tardiness, and he always points it out. you’re used to making sure you offer kids an extra big smile when you talk to them, he insists you’re the face of the youth, and he takes being a role model really seriously. and you’re used to constantly having him nag about one thing or the other, but the odd part is that the longer you know iida, the more you learn to love yourself.
he whips you into shape and brings out the best in you, and he gives you a little push that jump kicks you to give a shove of your own.
“i’m only looking out for you,” he insists, furrowing his brows deeply. but he steps forward, and you can feel the heat radiating off his gloved hands as he hovers his over yours. “your hands are going to get all cracked and dry if you don’t wear gloves,” he holds your hands up to inspect, tutting as he notices a few cracks in your skin already. “see? like this.”
“okay, it’s not that big of a deal,” you roll your eyes, pulling your hands away. you don’t know what this has to do with patrol anymore, and more importantly, you don’t know why your heartbeat is suddenly a little more rapid after his hand touches yours—but you refuse to believe the most logical explanation that comes to mind.
“it is,” he says instantly. “it is to me,” and the words come from his mouth like it’s nothing, like it’s casual, like it’s normal. you swallow deeply and take a step back, not meeting his eyes.
“iida, i got it, okay? i’ll wear a better jacket and winter appropriate accessories for you. you won’t have to do patrol alone—” and suddenly, a heavy jacket is placed on your shoulders, and iida is taking the liberty to take your arms and slide them through the sleeves of his jacket himself. you’re instantly engulfed by the scent of his cologne, woody and warm, with a hint of lavender.
“there, wear that,” he says firmly, leaving you no room to protest. but you’re you, and you protest anyway.
“but what about—”
“i’ll be running around anyway,” he says softly, “it’s kind of my quirk. i won’t get too cold.” and for the first time, iida’s voice isn’t stern or exasperated. it’s gentle, and it’s warm and inviting. you take a step forward, daring to look into his eyes, and they’re staring right back at you with the same hint of fondness you’re trying to fight back. it’s a losing battle in the end.
“thank you,” you say quietly, and you mean it. he nods, and for a moment, he awkwardly shuffles around on the balls of his feet, almost making you giggle—there are times where even iida tenya doesn’t know what more to say.
“well, you’re my partner, and it’s my duty as not only your partner, but a pro hero to look out for others, even if i have to—” iida is cut off abruptly with a soft peck to his lips, and his breath hitches in his throat as he stands stiffly. this time, you really do giggle.
“okay, partner and pro hero iida tenya,” you chuckle amusedly. “are you busy after patrol?”
“uh…no,” he trails off, blush dusting over his cheeks.
“great, you can walk me home then,” you nod, like the plan is set in stone. “so i can return your jacket to you before you leave, of course,” you add. he nods quickly, clearing his throat and looking away.
“r-right, of course. i would be happy to.”
and maybe for once, you want to hear iida talk and talk and talk as he walks you home after your patrol.

bnha — when you sacrificed yourself while on a mission
characters : bakugou k. + iida t. + ashido m.
cw : angst, mentions of death, grief and dealing with loss
bakugou k.
immediately upon your death, he found that he was blaming himself everyday to be responsible for it, he'd been with you, why had he been so slow? you plagued his mind, he imagined you were there. he believed with his whole heart it was his fault, and no matter how much his classmates, his family, his teachers told him it wasn't, he continued to believe it. he found it impossible to forgive himself, but swore he'd become the best hero he could and save as many people as he could, though in his mind, it'd never make up for your death. it wasn't until he was in his 3rd year he finally sought help, he couldn't deal with the thoughts of you dancing in his mind, simply a memory at that point. he got professional help, and after a few years of therapy sessions and being a hero, he managed to forgive himself. now he devotes his hero work to you, to make you proud. he eventually accepted that no one could've helped your death, as it had been your choice in the end, but he still missed you greatly, and he often finds himself breaking down, he can't help it, you were the first person to truly love him and show him that raw, true emotion and intimacy, and it was ripped from him. he mourns you often and always makes sure your death was known as honorable and heroic.
iida t.
it hits hard. really hard. but he hides it behind a strong image, he acts as if everything is okay. he needs to be strong for his classmates, as their class president. he takes all the weight, continuing his hero studies and work, continuing his life as if he didn't think it was his fault. it only took a few months for him to crack, under the weight of your death on his shoulders and how he'd pushed himself with all his other duties, he broke down. he took a break, albeit a bit short because he was determined to continue, but with the help of his friends and family he began to take care of himself again. he still bears the weight of your death, but the loss is also a hard drive for him, giving him fierce determination and devotion to his job as a hero to save anyone he can. no one else would be dying if he could help it. at times he'll find himself wondering why you'd done it, even though he knew the answer. you were simply too selfless, so devoted to your heroic tendencies that you'd let yourself go so easily. he can't help but wish it had been him instead of you sometimes.
ashido m.
she had been right there as the life faded from your eyes. she'd held you in her arms, begging you to stay, but she knew it was hopeless. you'd made your choice, that you were simply too damn reckless for your own good, and you'd immediately put your life last to anyone else's. her first reaction had been locking herself in her room, barely eating or sleeping. she'd show up to class with dark circles under her black eyes and she'd always look a mess. her temper seemed to shorten and she'd snap at her classmates easily. she didn't mean to. she was just so emotional. with time came recovery, she slowly found herself accepting what had happened, slowly coming back out to her classmates and friends. she is angry that you left her like that, and can't help but feel a bit resentment towards the person you'd sacrificed your life for, even though she's aware that in the end you'd decided to lay down your life.
Hello babe! May I ask for a hc for Iida and Aizawa, what they would do after they for some reason made their s/o cry? (a fight maybe, idk, up to you ^^)
Parings: Aizawa x reader, Iida x reader
Reader: Gender Neutral
Warnings: fights, insecurities, swearing
Iida
Tenya would probably freak out as soon as he saw you begin to cry
He had probably yelled at you in frustration during a fight, maybe something he didn’t even realise could upset you that much
So he’d most likely be angry too but that would disappear the moment he saw that first tear roll down your cheek
Internally curses himself for making you upset
‘How could you do this to her Tenya?’
Immediately rushes towards you with a million apologies flooding from his mouth
‘y/n! My love i apologise, it was uncalled for-’
Has you in his lap and arms before you can even process what he said
Lets be real he would either be so quiet or wouldn’t shut up wit his comfort, depending on how bad you were crying
Full on sobbing meant he had really messed up and felt awful about it, so he would keep his comfort to sweet whispers directed into your hair until you could calm down and talk it out
Would hold your face in his hands and verbally worship you until you felt like crying again but out of love
But silent crying is when he’d be talking very quickly, asking if you were okay and reassuring you that he loves you
This would probably make you laugh anyway because a frantic, wavy Tenya is the cutest Tenya in my humble opinion
You would still be in his arms an hour later with a now less regretful Iida telling you how much he was sorry and that he loved you
He is definitely one of those people who would have a rule not to go to bed upset so would resolve to situation as soon as possible
If he said something to upset you then you bet he is up bright and early the next morning, running to the florists to get you a sorry bouquet
Sweet boy would be beating himself up over it even after you said it was fine so there may have to be some mutual reassurance there
But expect to be treated like royalty (more than usual) and for extra Iida-Brand Snuggles
Aizawa
Aizawa however is probably the type to say something mean during an argument on purpose
Not to hurt you or anything i just think he is a lot more sarcastic and brash than Tenya
Once he said it though, his face would drop from one of vague annoyance to one of regret and shock that he could even say something like that to you
Honestly is a little speechless when he sees you begin to cry because of him
Either will let you wait it out, if you’re angry crying, or will comfort you immediately
Unlike Iida, i think his love language is actions over words
Rough hands would be under your eyes instantly to wipe away your tears
He hated seeing you cry it was one of his least favourite things to think you were anything other than happy
But knowing it was his fault? It would turn the comfort up to the max
He would have your face buried in his chest, petting your hair as soon as you were ready to be around him
Comforting back rubs are a must, as well as him leaving little kisses on your face until you smile and shy away from him
‘Y/ I’m sorry, what i said was a lie and i shouldn’t have said it’
Rocked you with him slightly to comfort you until your tears stopped
He is another one to kiss your head softly and cuddle you until you felt better, making sure you could hear his breathing to balance yours out
Sticks on your favourite movie when you’re ready to let go of him and snuggles with you in your bed
Expect your favourite junk food to be ordered as an apology (and because he probably didn’t want to leave you long enough to cook your favourite food)
Might even wake up early enough to make you breakfast in bed or you’d both be in bed until the afternoon, you snuggled into his side
Would act like it was no big deal that he was doing this but would secretly be really anxious about your properly forgiving him
