Deeply apart from the worlds we once knew, long after the days of Earth and her sister planets were consumed by their star, there existed a new source of light and life several, several lightyears away.
While humanity managed to survive its galaxy's inevitable end, they weren't the only species to seek refuge in other parts of the universe.
Luminasia, the mecca of peace and evolution. The planet of fluorescent lights and less than favorable air quality, ever-evolving and expanding her influence's reach, housing beings from all over, living as one in a melting pot of sorts.
"Papers! Get ya Newspapers here!!" a digitized fellow yelled repeatedly from his corner on the sidewalk. His form was fragmented, pixellating in and out of focus as he and his solid booth of merchandise swayed in the breeze.
A drizzle of rain patterned over the concrete, coating the air in a whimsical steam while pedestrians passed the floating newsstand, some too busy on their phones or in their conversations to notice. Or care. With a population well into the billions, it wasn't hard to be drowned out by the early evening buzz on the streets of the neon city, buzzing with its usual pass of traffic, foot and motor alike.
Yet the hologram continued its mantra, tossing out other lines involving hot coffee and e-cigarettes at half of the price in most stores.
A tall pale gentleman with stark white shoulder-length hair, suited in a forest green tailored suit approaches the stand. Rain pebbles over his translucent hands-free umbrella that hovered over his head to keep him dry as he and the hologram make eye contact.
"Evening sir! Can I interest you in today's paper?" the AI grins and the gentleman nods.
"Yes. One please.." the customer croons. A peculiar undertone of clicks and coos in his voice. When he blinks, two sets of eyelids flutter horizontally then vertically one bright green irises with his response.
"Oh and one coffee, " he adds, offering his wrist to the salesman for him to scan the glowing symbols etched into his skin as currency.
"Caf or decaf?" the AI perks a pixellated brow.
"Decaf, please."
Once the payment is processed and seemingly out of nowhere, a plain paper cup of coffee appears from under the salesman's left hand. In his right, a single blue capsule wrapped in plastic that fits in the nest of his palm is presented to the green-eyed customer.
He takes the pill, immediately tearing into the package and placing it on his tongue.
In an instant 10,000 words and images rush the gentleman's brain, flashes of images and speedy clips of video footage downloading in seconds as the tablet dissolves. Weather. Traffic. Celebrity gossip. Politics. All are compacted in one consumable capsule.
He blinks, shifting the colorfully distant look in his eyes as more present and the salesman gazes at him blankly with a steaming cup of coffee waiting to be taken by the customer.
Charteues eyes drop to the drink then back up to the AI's manufactured smile, nodding with gratitude before taking it. He lifted it to his lips for a sip, grimacing at the chalky bitterness coating his tongue as he swallowed. He doesn't seem overly offended by the coffee's offputting flavor however since he merely takes it with him.
"Enjoy." the robotic vendor bids the suited male adieu, promptly going back to yelling his pitch to hail in more customers.
That was life in the year 4471. Instant gratification, artificial intelligence. The coffee still sucked but much like most things carried over from the old worlds, very little was the same.
On a night like any other, the glowing streets of the neon city were alight with motion. Vehicles hovered in streams overhead while others remained traveling on the slick roads underfoot.
That was Megan's preferred method of travel, something about the feeling of the pavement beneath her tires kept her grounded. Long cotton candy blue tresses flow in the wind as the engine of her Venomx22GT growled against the damp concrete. Music blasts from her speakers, the bass vibrating through her down to the slope of her seat. Strips of black leather coiled around her luscious brown skin in some semblance of an outfit that covered only the parts of her that were necessary. Summers in Luminasia were sweltering, even after a drizzle, so why else cover up if not just for public decency purposes?
Her curves mimicked the way she leaned to swerve through traffic, unphased by the offensive swears and honks hurled her way for her careless maneuvers. She snickers at their antics, caring only about the path laid out in front of her.
*bling bling bling*
Interrupting her night-riding playlist, a call notification twitters in her ear. If it weren't for the personalized ringtone telling her who it was, she would have ignored it.
Being a professional jack of all trades Megan's line was constantly ringing. Whether it be a noblewoman in need of exclusive details regarding her husband's whereabouts on a particular night, stealing family jewels from museums and returning them to the rightful owners, or organizing entertainment for events dedicated to impoverished Lumin youth of all colors.
Not to mention her side hustle of procuring the very rare and very expensive, from places most people weren't brave enough to go...
Needless to say, our girl was a busy woman.
So calls from her partner in crime meant a few things; money on the way, or news of money to be made.
"Phor..talk to me." she takes the call, tapping her temple and unleashing a hologram strip an inch in front of her right eye. She still has a decent view of her surroundings as she weaves through traffic while her pixelated view of her four-legged, bull-dog confidante with heightened human-like intelligence, transitioned to a high-definition shot of him seated at his wall of projected screens and keyboards.
Phor pauses his constant type to push his tinted glasses up, allowing his color-blind eyes to appreciate his monitor adequately.
"Hey. I've got good news and bad news, Mama. Which first?"
Megan makes of face of careful contemplation with pouted lips.
"Mmmmmm..Gimme the good," she smirks, easing her bike to a stop at the red light.
She looks over, spotting a bright orange muscle car with its windows down blasting music beside her. The driver glances over at her, flashing a wide gold-plated grin before lowering his shades to reveal two sets of glimmering blue eyes. Both of the left two wink at her suggestively while a long yellow serpentine tongue lashes out of his mouth in a hiss.
Megan grimaces before twisting the handlebars of her bike, revving it in preparation to get as far away from the hungry-eyed creature as soon as the light changes.
Tapping away with his paws, Phor narrows his dark gaze at one of the maps on a screen to his right.
"Well...Looks like you were right about the location of one of the synstones hidden in the city. I tracked its sonic signatures to the southside of Mamba District."
Megan smiles at the news.
"I told you my dreams are never wrong." she shimmies her shoulders triumphantly while maintaining her balance on the bike.
But then the mention of the cold blooded's territory dawns on her, and Megan seethes in deepened disgust.
"Ugh! Mamba District? I said good news, Phor!" she exclaims and he chuckles, his long tongue rolling from his mouth as he panted softly.
"That IS good news. Means it's close to where you already are. I'd say 4-6 minutes if you hustle. And I'm pretty sure it's in an abandoned warehouse near the border. So it should be easy to find." he shrugs. The holo-light goes green overhead and Megan doesn't hesitate to lurch forward at a speed she was sure would leave that Lizard-faced onlooker in her dust.
Squinting against the high-speed winds in her face, Megan kisses her teeth.
"Ok, but who would hide a synstone in some raggedy-ass warehouse? Aint that just asking for someone to come take it?" she asks. Phor's consistent typing fills the line as she alters her course in pursuit of Mamba District.
"Who knows? Maybe keeping it under heavy guard would be too obvious.."
For all who have no clue what a synstone is, think of an infinity stone but less threatening. With only 6 existing in the entire universe, synstones were a hot commodity, each of them very different from the others and granting whoever possesses it extremely unique abilities.
While little is known about their true origins, knowledge of their existence has had scavengers and thieves scrambling all over the galaxy to acquire one. Whether it's for their gain or to sell to the highest bidder.
Megan's motivations leaned towards the latter.
"True, true. Alright. So what's the bad news?"
There's a thick pause after her question and Megan would have figured the call dropped if she weren't already looking through Phor's hologram and his apprehensive puppy-eyed expression.
His teeth were bared in a hesitant grimace, making Megan's worry intensify.
"What Phor?" she snaps at him and he exhales loudly.
"Ok. I tracked another signature near the stone as well. A very...familiar one."
Meg's hard scowl softens gradually when the tone of Phor's voice tells her everything he seems afraid to say.
Not afraid for her, more so for her reaction once she faced the very familiar presence they both knew would want the stone just as badly as she did.
"Fucking fabulous. Send me the coordinates." she glowers, but that doesn't stop her from hitting max speed through the glowing night streets and deeper into the neon jungle.
I am having an impossible time finding my community online :/ I just want to meet other writers (poets) in our age group. Where is everybody?
I want to be brave and put my work out there, but no luck on here, and IG makes things impossible for new accounts.
I can completely relate. I think social media has really changed the past 5 years and it can be hard to keep up with/find new ways to connect and share. I’m having some luck on Instagram but my name is already out there from years ago so I’m not starting over totally fresh. I think we have to embrace the new ways of sharing whether that’s reels, text over images, tiktok… it’s tricky. And feels a lot just like luck of being seen/shared or not. The poetry world on social media is over saturated now with everyone trying the same way and the old way and it’s hard to stand out, if that makes sense? like I won’t be posting simple images of text on a white page. That gets lost in my opinion. Even if what you have to say is good, it has to now look interesting to really draw people in. Our attention span on social media is getting smaller and smaller. We want instant gratification and we want interesting, and then we want to move on to the next thing that’s interesting. It’s hard to get anything to stick. I think about what it’ll be like to promote my next book when I’m ready for it to come out. It won’t work the way it used to. But when it comes to writing community that’s hard too! I’m lost there for sure. I’m not really finding it here anymore. I’m finding it a little on Instagram. No where else though. I’ve always been solitary with my writing practice but I’m about to start an in person writing group. That’s the best thing I think I can do right now, and I think that’s the community I personally need. Social media is going thru a weird phase of connection but disconnection and moving thru different mediums and formats and it’s tricky. I wish I could offer you more. The most I can suggest is vulnerability on Instagram in your own personal way, following people who inspire you and who you can connect with, and starting a substack for people to connect with you. I’m not super active on substack but I think that’s going to be one of the better ways for writers to get their work out there and to connect with people. I have yet to try threads on Instagram and I’m curious to hear what people think of that, if it’s worth a try as a writer. I hope you’re able to find some connections you need 🤍 embrace vulnerability, embrace your unique qualities and perspectives and ways of being in the world.
summary : judgemental is the last thing joohyun is, but when seungwan can seem to keep it to herself, you can bet she’ll have something to say about it.
small note : this sat in my head, and then in my drafts, and now it's sitting here, obnoxious as seungwan. and if there’s anything i struggle with more than my inner fight between yandere!violence and yandere!smut, it’s writing two characters doing the consensual nasties. even worse, if it’s a group endeavour. thankfully irene’s not about to let that happen. idk but there’s like a tinge of humiliation somewhere, but not enough for me to want to trigger warn you about.

...
There are only so many ‘sounds’ her ears can take before she blows her top. Especially when they surface every damned day of the week.
She gets it, she understands. It isn’t like there’s very much else to do what there’s a virus plaguing the nation and quarantine restrictions don’t seem to be lifting anytime soon. Plus, Red Velvet had already been laying low for the past few weeks prior, so everyone was getting a little restless. Even she’s found her own fingers wandering past her waistband more often than she’d care to put a number to… so it’s not like she’s about to judge her for it.
Except, she can, because could she be any louder? Like seriously, it’s damaging. The frequency of those moans could shatter the windows on a fucking rocket if they weren’t contained within the four walls of her room, goddamnit! She’s been out here all morning trying to get in some quality tv time – just some peace and quiet with National Geographic on for Christ’s sake, and Son bloody Seungwan is obnoxiously denying her that right.
Joohyun angrily nibbles on the edge of a biscuit, equally close to stuffing her ears with cotton-wool and breaking that door down and giving her self-serving member an earful. This is… what, the third? Fourth time today? All in what? The span of a few hours? God, she thinks, rolling her eyes as she glances at the clock, she’s really going for the Guinness Book of World Records, isn’t she?
It’s not even noon.
With an exasperated grunt, she pushes herself off the sofa and marches to the door. She had originally planned to just barge in and start yelling, but something stops her right before she has her fingers around the handle, and she finds herself slowly pressing an ear to the cool, thin wood, listening. Yep, she’s going at it again. Joohyun’s breath unconsciously catches in her throat when she hears the heavy sigh from the other side – if she listens really closely, it’s like she’s sighing right into her ear. And if she listens closer still, she can just about hear the sound of fingers against wetness.
Since Seulgi has taken Yerim out to the coffee shop, and Sooyoung’s all huddled up in her own room, headphones on and re-watching that one episode of Itaewon Class (she assumes), this could mean she gets some quality time to talk to Seungwan about her ‘problem’.
For a moment there, Joohyun thinks about Seungwan’s behaviour when they’re all out and promoting. Seungwan is bubbly, lively and full of charisma – she’s about to be full of something else, but she’ll save that image for later. She’s so soft, so even-tempered, so well-adjusted to idol life, Joohyun had often wondered how she managed it despite their constantly hectic schedules and rising levels of stress… and, well, she knows now. Her precious dongsaeng; who hasn’t a single nasty bone in her body – aside from all this self-gratification, but that doesn’t count.
Ahh, anyway, Seungwan’s in trouble. She’s definitely in trouble. And she’s going to hear all about it. Because it isn’t so much the fact that Joohyun’s been interrupted out of sleep days in a row now, or the fact that Yerim has come knocking on her door in the middle of the night because ‘Seungwan unnie’s watching weird goat videos in her room’ and she can’t go back to sleep. Hell, it isn’t even because she can’t watch the nature channel without those animalistic mating noises Seungwan so considerately contributes to, oh no.
It’s because every time Joohyun hears them, it curls that flame in her belly even tighter than the last. And while Seungwan seems to be satisfied, Joohyun absolutely cannot stomach the thought of getting her own panties wet and having the decency to carry on about her day without locking herself in her room and building the muscle in her right bicep.
So she’s done listening, and she doesn’t knock.
She has to swallow a laugh when she hears a shrill yelp and a frantic blur of blankets as Seungwan scrambles to cover herself in her sheets, as if the room isn’t already drenched in that very telling scent.
“Unnie!” she screams, twisting the material flush against her body, “oh my gosh, can’t you knock? I was, you – you can’t just come in like that!”
Joohyun just smiles. “Hi Seungwan.”
Seungwan feels the heat move to her cheeks and she looks down with a mumbled ‘hi unnie’. Joohyun steps through the doorway and shuts it behind her, causing the younger girl to shoot up from where she was staring at the floor.
It can’t be any more obvious, really. She’s doing a terrible job at hiding the breathlessness in her tone, the sheets are a mess, and her clothes are in a heap on the chair in the corner. Can… can Joohyun tell she’s naked under this? She should, from the way she’s pulling the sheet up to her neck. Oh and of course, Joohyun doesn’t clear a space on the chair so she can sit. She just sets herself down… on the edge of the bed, right next to her. That smile she’s wearing makes Seungwan think she’s either being blatantly genuine or that she’s got a million things up her sleeve.
“Are you alright? Have you been having nightmares again?”
Well, that was… unexpected. Since when did Joohyun know about the nightmares? Oh, right… that time. Gosh, she’d be lying if she says half her self-service episodes aren’t spurred on from that memory alone. But, no? She doesn’t take naps during the day… and she’s sure the other girl knows it too.
She cocks her head to the side. “Um, no unnie? I’m okay, really. Th-thanks for checking on me, though. You can, uh…” But she can’t find it in her to tell her to leave.
Unfortunately, Joohyun insists on playing dumb. “Are you sure, Seungwan-ah?” She reaches up to brush a strand of hair from Seungwan’s face. “I thought I heard crying or… or something. Even Yerimie tells me she thinks you must be having bad dreams. You wake her up sometimes, you know? With your crying.”
Okay, so ‘crying’ is definitely a euphemism.
No, no, no. There’s no way.
Has she been that loud? Surely she hasn’t tainted poor, darling Yerimie’s innocent ears with all her immorality, has she? Wait, what has everybody been hearing?
Joohyun cuts through her thoughts, leaning in over her and holding her down with her gaze. Seungwan can’t help the shiver that rattles through her when she sees what’s in those eyes, all too aware of the dryness in her lips and the cool air against her heated skin.
Before she has time to react, Joohyun is bringing Seungwan’s fingers – you know, the ones that had been between her thighs not ten minutes ago, still slightly damp from activities – up under her nose and… that fucking smile stretches all the way to her ears when she confirms something she’s known all along.
“Nightmares, maybe not…” Joohyun sounds far too nonchalant for someone who’s just found out her member has been touching herself non-stop. “… well, not for you, anyway.”
Seungwan suddenly can’t remember how to breathe when cinnamon eyes stare right through hers.
“And not for me, either.”
The instant Joohyun’s words register in her brain, Seungwan is pulling her wrist out of the death grip around it and trying to kick away from her. She would’ve succeeded, too, if it weren’t for the fact that Joohyun had already seen this coming. She doesn’t wait for Seungwan to react, and she doesn’t loosen her grip. She tugs her in by the arm, pins it to the bed, and she’s on top of her before Seungwan can even think to catch her breath.
“Get – get the fuck off me!” The reaction is impulsive, unthinking. Seungwan stills when she realises her mistake and instantly corrects herself (which Joohyun thinks is absolutely adorable). “I mean! I-I mean please get off, u-unnie…”
“You know, Seungwannie,” Joohyun continues, ignoring the uncomfortable shift beneath her, “I wouldn’t have minded… except. I’m sure you’re aware that the walls in here aren’t the thickest. And I can only imagine you think you’re being subtle with all those pretty noises you make. Sometimes I just want to watch tv and not have to turn the subtitles on.”
Joohyun watches in amusement as she tries to flinch away, to hide her deafening embarrassment, but there’s really nowhere to go.
P-pretty noises? Subtitles?! Pretty noises!
“Unnie, I… I don’t – I’m…” she stutters, trying unsuccessfully to kick the sheets so she isn’t trapped under them, too.
There’s a definite switch in Joohyun’s voice, which the younger picks up instantly. No more fake concern, no more pretending not to know. It’s still gentle as ever, but there’s something else… and it’s not good news for her.
“Aw, is Wannie feeling shy now?” She taunts, tightening her grip on her wrist just enough to make her squirm. “You certainly don’t seem shy when you’re making me listen to all your moaning… your whimpering…”
Seungwan bites her lip and shakes her head, wanting nothing more than to perish on sight. She’s given up struggling for the moment, because she can barely move with Joohyun’s knee snugly wedged between her legs, putting an unholy amount of pressure on her still-sore clit.
“It’s – it’s not what you think!”
This time Joohyun pulls her hand up to her lips, and oh so slowly takes them into her mouth, a finger at a time, until Seungwan feels them both coated in her own slick and warm saliva. She gulps, and Joohyun grins, sucking her fingers clean. “Oh really? That tasted like exactly what I think it is.” She chuckles at the sheer horror plastered on her dongsaeng’s red face. “You really think you’re quiet, don’t you? I can hear everything, Wannie.”
“Wha – what?”
Joohyun looks down at her. The girl probably doesn’t realise how vulnerable, how lovely she looks, because if she did, she’d know exactly what it was doing to Joohyun’s waning restraint, and she’d definitely try to stop. God, that deep rose tint in her cheeks, the thin sheets she’s barely wrapped in anymore just falling off her shoulders, beckoning her to uncover more.
And not to mention the taste of her arousal now sitting on her tongue.
“I wonder what everyone else would say, hm? If I told them. What would manager unnie say if I tell her the real reason you were late for our VLive yesterday? Huh? Do you think she’d like to know that our tiniest, sweetest member spends all her free time fucking herself like this?”
Seungwan can only listen and cringe at the prospect of having her innocent façade shattered in front of everyone she’s ever known. “No, please don’t!” She’s quick to interrupt Joohyun’s sadistic musings, thinking she might actually die if she hears any more. And she doesn’t want to resort to looking even more pathetic than she already does, but – “Please, unnie, please don’t tell! I-I’m sorry, I’m sorry I’ll be quiet next time, promise!”
It’s so funny how Seungwan thinks she can get out of this with a few ‘sorry unnie’s’ and ‘pleases’. Joohyun responds with a firm upper thrust of her knee between her legs, and Seungwan can’t choke back the whimper fast enough. She smirks when the girl’s eyes go wide and she clamps her hands over her own mouth.
Joohyun will compromise later, but for now, she’s intent on hearing more of those sounds Seungwan seems to suddenly not want her to hear.
“What… what are you…” She tries to scoot back, but Joohyun’s hand is already sneaking down to rub her over the paper-thin cotton sheet. Seungwan almost groans out loud at how wet she is. The fabric slides so smoothly over her folds and Joohyun finds her clit without breaking eye contact for a second, pulling a throaty whine from her when she thumbs it gently. Seungwan’s leaking so much she’s soaked through the barrier of cotton.
The older girl somewhat assesses her reaction. Very, very sensitive, but she can take one more.
Probably.
Seungwan spreads herself open as much as her restrictions will allow, shuddering violently when she feels the heat in her cheeks migrate back down to that spot between her thighs. She can’t help it, though. When Joohyun barged in on her, she’d been so close. Now she just wants her to finish off what she’d disturbed.
Joohyun relents her grip on her wrist to rub a thumb over a nipple, making Seungwan squeak like a baby mouse. God, she really is soft all over.
“Ungh… u-unnie…” Seungwan shields her eyes with an arm, terribly shy. “Please…”
“Mm?” Joohyun dips her head down to flick her tongue over the nipple before lightly biting down. “What was that? Were you close? Did I ruin it?” Although from the moisture on her thumb, she needn’t have asked.
“Don’t worry, unnie will take care of that for you.” Joohyun reassures, bringing her fingers up to tap against Seungwan’s lips, demanding access. “But you need to be quiet, okay? You can use my fingers if it helps.”
The offer is mortifying but at the same time, she doesn’t trust herself to be able to hold back. So she opens, sucking on the fingers filling her mouth and turning anything she was trying to say into a muffled grunt, to which Joohyun smiles encouragingly.
“Does my poor little Wannie need to feel good, hm? She’s just frustrated, isn’t she?”
The only response is a gagged whimper around the digits between her lips. Joohyun slowly increases the pressure against the painful ache at her core, and Seungwan just keens. She can’t vocalise it now, but the way her hips are canting up against the pad of her thumb shows just how desperate she is for more stimulation, and Joohyun almost coos.
Poor Seungwan. Her poor sensitive, edged little Seungwan.
Too bad it’s so much fun to tease her. Especially when she’s so clearly on the brink. But she knows she’s not going to last much longer, not when she’s already twitching like she’s going to cum for the fifth time today. Joohyun is just glad she’s the one making her, this time. She continues to roll her thumb right against Seungwan’s clit, swollen from overstimulation but burning for Joohyun to make it cum again.
Seungwan tries to tell her that she’ll lose it if she keeps this up, but her makeshift gag stops the words from ever leaving her mouth. She doesn’t see Joohyun move, nor does she hear it. All she feels is a slight ruffle in the bedsheets and then the zips of electricity that run down the length of her spine when Joohyun’s lips latch around her nub and suck. Oh gosh, she’s… she’s sucking on her clit. She’s sucking on it through – through the fabric and it feels even better. She tries to shift away a little, wanting to stay like this for as long as possible, but Joohyun’s anchored and she’s helpless to resist it. It quickly becomes too much for her to hold out for a second longer. She’s going to – god, she can’t take anymore, she’s going to cum.
Seungwan falls apart with Joohyun eating her out and four fingers stuffed into her mouth, shivering and whining as best she can while she rides out the most intense orgasm she’s had today, or ever. And Joohyun doesn’t stop, either. She’s still licking – slower, at least, but she isn’t letting up till she feels Seungwan shake at the feeling, oversensitive and exhausted.
Joohyun licks her lips, watching Seungwan struggle to keep her eyes open. So the limit is five, she mentally adds for future reference.
“Did you like that, Wannie? It really sounded like you did. Sooyoung probably heard you from her room.”
Brows furrow in disbelief and Joohyun only shakes her head as she removes her hand, creating a long string of saliva as it leaves her mouth.
She grins as she holds up her spit-coated fingers for Seungwan to blush at. “Really. You have no idea, huh. These definitely aren’t enough to shut you up. I’m going to have to get creative next time.”
Seungwan groans and buries her face in her pillow, mumbling something incoherent about ‘never opening her mouth again’. It’s enough to keep her hands away from her crotch for the rest of her life. That, and the fact that Joohyun is still fully clothed while she’s lying here completely naked, nothing but a soaked bedsheet to preserve any modesty she can scrape together after… whatever’s just happened.
She isn’t sure what she thought was going to happen next, but Joohyun slotting herself comfortably between her and the wall wasn’t on her list of expectations. The next thing that registers in her cloudy mind is that she’s being… cuddled. She didn’t even have to squeeze her bolster like she so often did, thinking about a certain someone after she’d finished ‘fantasising’ or even as she retired for the night. No, this is the real thing! There’s an arm draped around her waist and a warm body snuggled into her side. She wants to pinch herself, half expecting to wake up in another dimension – one where cockroaches run for presidency and everyone’s favourite food is Twinkies (the chocolate kind) – but when she wriggles, the arm tightens around her and she turns to look at the face she wants to wake up to for as long as she lives.
“Unnie?” For someone so usually vocal, she’s at a loss for words. “… I… uh, sorry… about… the noise, I…”
Joohyun shushes her with the gentlest kiss to her cheek and laces their fingers together. “Relax, Wan-ah… I understand. I wasn’t angry with you like that, you know.”
A tiny spark of energy races through the younger girl at those words, and she jolts forward, confused. “Huh? You weren’t angry I was so noisy? The subtitles? Your tv time?”
Assuming she’d have her dongsaeng fall asleep in her arms, the sudden curiosity takes Joohyun by surprise too, but she gradually pushes herself up so she’s resting on her elbows. “Well, not really… you weren’t really disturbing me, that much. I didn’t mean it like that, anyway.”
“W-What do you mean, unnie?”
And Joohyun has to laugh at her sincerity.
With their fingers still intertwined, she brings them up to her lips and kisses the back of Seungwan’s hand.
In our first post, we introduced the Astro Scales system and discussed each element’s heart and head values. In this post, we will further break down each element into its three signs, and explain what distinguishes the signs from one another.
The Astro Scales system derives its name from a pair of scales, where we envision head and heart values being weighed against each other. Some signs weigh the head value above the heart value, some weigh the heart value above the head value, and some place an equal weight on both values, balancing the scales.
For example, while all fire signs struggle with the primary conflict of now vs. later, we argue that the charging ram Aries weighs now, the fire heart value, above the head value of later. By contrast, the archer Sagittarius believes in the value of biding their time, despite the draw of fulfilling their desires immediately; thus Sagittarius weighs head over heart. Meanwhile, proud Leo, king of the jungle, constantly balances immediate reward against delayed gratification.
We observe these 3 configurations of the scales (heart over head, balancing both, head over heart) in all 4 elements, giving each of the 12 zodiac signs its own distinctive character.
***
Fire signs (now vs. later)
Aries: now
The first sign in the zodiac, Aries the ram bursts into existence with an uncontainable life force, as if to announce to the world, “I am here.” It’s therefore no surprise that Aries leads with the heart value of now over the head value of later. Although Aries understands on some level that waiting can lead to greater rewards, the cost of forgoing the immediate rush of instant gratification is often too high for this impatient sign. More so than any other fire sign, Aries embodies the action principle of fire: a flame’s existence depends on a continued fuel source, or it will be extinguished. Thus it is important for Aries to feel a sense of forward momentum with all of their actions, and stasis is very uncomfortable for them. Aries may feel anxiety about not getting what they have set their minds to and if they cannot follow through with their plans, they can feel lost and unlike themselves. It’s instinctual for Aries to prioritize the desires of their heart above the head. This means that while Aries is very good at making decisive moves to instigate the outcome they desire, others can feel steamrolled or ignored in Aries’ hasty actions.
Leo: balancing both
Ruled by the Sun, Leo is a sign that flourishes when it’s in the spotlight. Leos are generous with their warmth and their love; being around them can feel like basking in warm sunshine. Leos shine brightest when surrounded by other people, and their need for continuous attention from others explains why Leos balance the heart value of now against the head value of later. For Leo, balancing these values means pursuing all of their immediate desires, while making concessions so as not to lose their audience. The lion is the king of the jungle, and like all kings, Leo walks a fine line between luxuriating in all the perks of being at the top, yet always being aware of the precariousness of their position. There is always someone next in line, waiting to usurp a king who shows weakness or loses the support of his followers, and proud Leo feels keenly the cold shadow that descends upon them when the spotlight is turned on someone else. For this reason, it is rare to see two Leos in one group of friends. Though people are quick to characterize Leos as overconfident and self-absorbed, these traits can be attributed to this sign’s tendency towards idealism and a general wholehearted optimism for life.
Sagittarius: later
Although Sagittarians may be known for their impulsivity, a second look at this sign reveals a surprising willingness to bide their time. Note that of all the fire signs, Sagittarius is the only one represented not by an animal, but by the archetype of the archer -- the hunter, who must lie in wait for the perfect moment to strike, reflecting how Sagittarius weighs their head value of later over their heart value of now. Another aspect of the Sagittarian mythology involves the figure of the centaur, a half-human, half-horse. While Sagittarius may feel the primal urge of now from beneath its hooves, its higher faculties are able to temper these urges. Ruled by Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion, Sagittarius is willing to take a gamble on waiting until later in the hope of reaping greater rewards. Sagittarius feels most like themselves when they have the freedom to explore various options and are able to escape when life gets too restrictive. These tendencies result in the endless optimism and adaptability Sagittarians bring to all of life’s ups and downs, but can also result in an impression of flightiness and unreliability.

Water signs (feeling vs. fantasy)
Scorpio: feeling
Of the three water signs, Scorpio alone is represented by a non-water-dwelling animal. Compared to the dark, nurturing ocean depths where Cancer and Pisces live, the harsh, flat desert where the scorpion dwells contains few hiding places; here, everyone is stripped bare. Similarly, this sign favors the heart value of raw feeling over the head value of fantasy, which they see as a watery world of self delusions and concealments. Even as they are drawn to the boundless promise of the mystical and fantastic, Scorpio accepts that they live in the physical world and must adapt to its harshness rather than seeking escape in dreams. Scorpios feel things intensely, and they have a hard time hiding or masking their emotions, seeming even to revel in the darker side of their nature. Since they see the world and other people with clear eyes, without the veneer of idealism, they find trust and vulnerability difficult. Scorpio’s combination of intensity and penetrative perception gives them a magnetic quality, which can be attractive to many. But when tangling with this guarded sign, know that physical passions do not necessarily translate into emotional intimacy.
Cancer: balancing both
Cancer the crab walks between the watery world of fantasy and the earthly sands of real sensation. Though they are often stereotyped as sensitive and moody, this reputation stems from the tug-of-war between Cancer’s heart value of feeling and head value of fantasy. Far from being mutually exclusive, this sign’s heart and head values often feed into and build upon each other. For a Cancer, real-life feelings are heightened by their fantastical imaginings, while their fantasies are imbued with real attachment. For example, in everyday conflicts, it comes naturally for Cancer to cast others in the roles of hero and villain. Conversely, this sign’s romantic daydreams can replicate or even surpass the giddy euphoria of actually falling in love. Because Cancers attach equal weight to their fantasies and their lived emotions, it can be extremely painful and disappointing for this sign when experiences don’t live up to the expectations set by fantasies; this is when Cancer may retreat without warning behind a spiky exterior. However, a person who is able to coax this sign out of their shell will find a uniquely soft and nurturing nature: a Cancer’s affection is given wholeheartedly and without reserve.
Pisces: fantasy
Pisces the fish lives entirely submerged in the ocean depths of fantasy, so much so that Pisceans often seem to inhabit their own plane of existence. With this sign of dreams, the subconscious, and the spiritual, the head value of fantasy comes so naturally that they may have difficulty separating fantasy from their emotional reality. For Pisces, fantasy involves a predisposition towards creating deeper meaning from the apparent randomness and chaos of life. This may morph into existential dread if Pisces begins to consider the possibility that reality is actually random and devoid of meaning. Everyday, practical matters tend to fade into the background in the face of these looming existential questions, which may contribute to this sign’s “head in the clouds” reputation. While Pisces, like other water signs, is highly emotionally attuned, their fixation on fantasy can make it difficult for this sign to express or indeed, truly experience their immediate feelings. This results in Pisces’ susceptibility to absorbing the feeling currents of others around them, as well as their reputation for empathy and sensitivity. A Pisces who is too detached from the truth of their own feelings can become oversensitive and withdrawn.

Earth signs (conviction vs. compromise)
Taurus: conviction
Famously stubborn, Taurus’s stability comes from their firm heart value of conviction, which they weigh over the head value of compromise. Because Taurus’s sense of identity is so grounded in their personal convictions, being confronted with the necessity of compromise can feel like an affront to Taurus’s self-image. This is why Taurus, more than any other sign, is known to fear change despite recognizing the importance of growth -- after all, compromise by definition requires us to leave our comfort zone in some way. Like the immovable bull, Taurus prefers to stick to what they know and trust, not only in their beliefs but also in their habits and environments. While they are aware, as all earth signs are, that there are times when we must prioritize practicality and/or the common good, it costs more comparatively for a Taurus to repress their innermost beliefs. Although this sign may come across as stubborn and obstinate at times, others know that they can trust Taurus to be honest and reliable.
Virgo: balancing both
The maiden associated with Virgo embodies purity of course, but also carries a sheaf of wheat, representing the harvest. These two symbols encapsulate Virgo’s balancing act between their heart value of conviction and their head value of compromise: while it is important for Virgo to uphold the purity and clarity of their personal convictions, this service-oriented sign may not always find it necessary or appropriate to impress these convictions upon others. The harvest is emblematic of humans’ interdependence with each other and with nature; Virgo’s approach to compromise follows a similar principle of being conscious of how your actions affect others. They are careful not to be offensive or take up too much space, and tend to disdain those who act rudely or thoughtlessly. Balancing conviction and compromise can be a struggle for Virgos, who feel they must remain true to themselves even as they wish to avoid making a fuss. This may account for some of this overanalytical sign’s tendency towards anxiety and neurosis. Virgos treat each word and action they put into the universe with extreme care, but even so, they may stay up late at night regretting their decisions.
Capricorn: compromise
Even as the mountain goat Capricorn steadily ascends the mountain, it never loses sight of its grounded perspective. Capricorns weigh their head value above their heart value; although they have as strong a sense of their convictions as other earth signs, it is unlikely that a Capricorn will allow these private convictions to interfere with their ability to compromise. Compared to other earth signs, Capricorns tend to come across as more patient when dealing with people because they try to accommodate everyone’s differences in order to move forward. Another way to understand this value could be “compartmentalization,” something that comes naturally to this sign. Some may call Capricorns cold because of their ability to put distance between their actions and their personal feelings/allegiances; they would simply call themselves realistic. Compromise serves most Capricorns well -- in the long term, they will be able to build respect, recognition and a reputation of dependability in the eyes of others.

Air signs (knowledge vs. faith)
Aquarius: knowledge
Ruled by Uranus, the planet of revolution and rebellion, Aquarius the water bearer is characterized by independence, originality and humanitarianism. Aquarians are not known to be followers; their determination to walk their own path emerges from their heart value of knowledge, which they prioritize over the head value of faith. If you want to recruit Aquarius to your cause or way of thinking, you’d better be prepared to explain every step of your logic. For Aquarius, blindly following a belief that is not their own feels like a betrayal of the principle to seek truth. Even if an Aquarius hasn’t yet developed their own perspective on a subject, they are eager to pick holes in someone else’s viewpoint in order to better understand the other person’s logic. Since Aquarians tend to forget that most people’s beliefs include emotion as well as logic, this sign runs the risk of coming across as cold or unemotional. Yet it is equally common for Aquarians to attract those who admire their unique perspective.
Libra: balancing both
Portrayed as a pair of scales, it comes as no surprise that Libra is the air sign that balances the heart and head values of knowledge and faith. The heart value of knowledge gives Libra a clear view of their own beliefs, though they are unlikely to offer these opinions unless pressed or in the company of someone they fully trust. This is because Libra wishes to avoid conflict and maintain a sense of equilibrium in most situations, and it comes naturally to this sign to reflect other people’s opinions back at them, telling others what they most want to hear. Libras are seen by some as indecisive or “fake” because their behavior can change depending on their company. However, this is not to say that Libras are simply humoring the other party; they believe that each person has their own truth that they live by and they are willing to reconcile disparate opinions with their own, especially when faced with an emotionally charged appeal. In this way, this harmony-seeking sign can manage knowledge and faith simultaneously without sacrificing either; the result is Libra’s distinctive charm and agreeable nature.
Gemini: faith
Gemini’s ruler Mercury is the fastest-moving planet in our solar system. Accordingly, Gemini, the mercurial twins of the zodiac, always thinks a million thoughts at once. Their talkative, loud exterior tends to mask their propensity to overanalyze and doubt their own logical flow. Gemini weighs their head value of faith over the heart value of knowledge: it is often easier for a Gemini to take someone else’s words as truth rather than stick to their own knowledge, unless the other person’s opinions strongly contradict systems that they already know to be correct. Although Gemini is much maligned for the stereotype of being “two-faced,” this sign isn’t being consciously duplicitous; they are simply so faith-oriented that it is difficult for them to maintain their former beliefs in the face of someone else’s forceful opinions. A Gemini’s fluid, fast-paced thought process can accommodate many different and conflicting truths in rapid succession -- to arrive at a single, final truth is the real challenge for this sign. For Gemini, knowledge seems less like a stable destination and more like a never-ending journey of considering each possibility and perspective.

1. Stop seeking a grander meaning behind everything. Sometimes, that's just the way you confuse and disctract yourself from finding the true meaning of life. Complication does not mean advancement. The simpler you make your life is the easier you flow with it. Nature is so simple, and yet it is the most advanced, pure and divine. Keep it simple. Live in the moment, because here is where your life is. The past and the future are just extensions of the present moment. Make your life peaceful, easy, and fun. Know yourself enough to understand your own language. Don't let the world around you brainwash you into taking in goals and dreams that have nothing to do with your true heart's desires. Know yourself first, you'll spare yourself so much struggle this way. But always remember that it's simplicity that will lead you back to "yourself" because your self is your pure nature, and your pure nature is clear and simple to you.
2. Always take what resonnates and leave what doesn't. Not every "good" is "good for you". So also take these life-lessons I'm writing here with a grain of salt, all our lifepaths are different, and what worked for others wouldn't necessarily work for you. Know yourself though, it could be easier said than done perhaps, but it's one of the best things you can invest in.
3. Depend on yourself. Everyone has their own life and expecting of people to handle our life aside from theirs is non-realistic. Sometimes we just want to escape the need for feeling all that comes with dealing with our shit, and we keep projecting it on others and blaming them and expecting from them unconsciously thinking that it's unfair that they're not fixing our lives for us. That's wrong. I know you need love and so do I, but loving ourself first is the way to get there. We want to achieve that sense of fulfillment, we were willing to take action towards it, we just didn't know that it wasn't the right path to go in the direction that involved others in that sense. Afterall, all we needed was something that is our birthright. But now that we know what we want and we are willing to take action towards achieving it, we better take the right type of action since we surely don't want to waste our efforts. Provide for yourself the love that you need, it matters. In fact, it will unlock for yourself the reality that holds good relationships with others for you, where you give and receive love in the healthier manner.
4. It's not your task to fix others, especially if the effort of doing so breaks everything you've tried to build for yourself.
5. Just because people say something does not necessarily mean that they mean it. Alot of people are concerned with their image and they wouldn't mind telling a lie and even gaslighting you for the sake of it. Don't ignore the behavioural patterns, they're the true "words" that you need to know.
6. Just because someone is giving you love does not mean that you are obliged to receive it if it feels like shit for you to do so. Sometimes, what people think is good to give is not good for us to receive. It just feels off and it's totally okay, you're not a jerk, even though their intentions might seem to be pure. If it's not for you then it's not for you, even if they think that it's a good thing. Not everyone knows us enough to be able to decypher our true nature, and you're never under any obligation to be a people pleaser by being grateful for something that annoys you in the first place. Be kind, but be true, kindly.
7. Life flows. What could feel like a mountain of pain right now will feel like nothing someday. At the moment you feel pain, always remember that it's ephemeral... you are not stuck, even though it may feel like it. It's happened before and you got over it and you laughed again. You are never stuck in pain. The peaceful you is just some thoughts away.
8. Notice the patterns in your life. They hold the directions and the answers to all you need to know, to fix every little issue you may have, if you only chose to.
9. The best version of yourself is just some thoughts away. If you change your perspective, your thought patterns change, the way you view the world changes, the way you feel about yourself changes, what you give away your emotions to changes, the way you take action changes, the types of actions that you take changes, your whole outlook in life changes. When they say "everything is consciousness" I think this is really most of what they mean. We are all the same in our inner potential, all that is different between you and the most successful person in the world is that they know the way for them to get there. It's in the mind. That shit is available. Nourish your mind with worthy stuff, it can get you so far in life.
10. Resisting to learn from others is your ego's trick to kill you. The difference between death and life is that so long as you're alive you're still expanding. Always know that no matter how much you already know there is always more to know and that's a blessing. Expand, you'll do yourself good as such. It's not humbling to learn, it's rather majestic. Keep growing. You can always get bigger.
11. The illusion that comes with the desire of instant gratification can often be like a luring cup of the sweetest juice with two table spoons of tasteless poison. "What we do now echoes in eternity", and every action we take is a step ahead towards a direction that's decided by the quality of the taken action. The law of cause and effect does not stop in the immediate present moment. Know what you ultimately want from life, that feeling perhaps, or that goal, that state of being... and align your actions with it. Discipline is the way you channel your spirit into the structure of your life. Surrendering to your bodily desires comes with a price. Pamper yourself, yet be balanced.
Hiya, it’s me again! I see that everything is open so pls could I request for a synastry ship with ateez’s san? tysm 💗💗
@sxni-xx Thanks for requesting!!
Pros
Trine Sun - Mercury: You communicate well. You just “get” each other. This is a problem-solving aspect and will be very helpful whenever things get rough. When the two of you put your minds together, you come up with positive solutions to problems. You will find that you think well around him, and are more articulate and assured of what you say.
Conjunction Sun - Pluto: You find each other utterly fascinating and intriguing. You are drawn to each other in a way that is hard to describe. Because the nature of your relationship is deep, and because your connection to each other may seem other-worldly and hard to define, there can be downright explosive moments in your relationship. You may feel thrown off-balance now and again, fearing the loss of your partner, while he needs to take extra care to avoid trying to control the direction of your life. You draw out each other’s dark sides, and there can frequently be battles of will between the two of you. There is a compulsive quality to your partnership that can be unnerving at times, and exhausting as well. Your connection certainly runs deep, and the very nature of your relationship makes it an especially significant one.
Trine Moon - Uranus: Your life together is never boring. You’re less likely to fall into ruts and there is an unconventional quality to your relationship. You’re spontaneous and mischievous together. It’s easy to adapt together when life throws surprises at you.
Sextile Mercury - Uranus: You have a good intellectual understanding. You are in tune with each other and are able to finish each other’s sentences. You are able to come up with a lot of creative ideas and solutions. Open communication is a big part of your relationship.
Sextile Mercury - Lunar node: Similar tastes and interests. You will serve as teachers for each other and experience growth because of your relationship.
Conjunction Venus - Mars: Instant and irresistible attraction. The intensity of your feelings for one another is unlikely to fade over time, and you find much fulfillment in your love for each other.
Sextile Venus - Saturn: You share mutual goals for material and emotional stability and have a willingness to focus together on the task at hand in order to achieve your desires. You can depend on each other and this is one indication of a long-term, significant relationship. You can count on each other, and you both take the relationship seriously. You are likely to make sacrifices for one another without even thinking twice.
Conjunction Mars - Mars: Your levels of action, desire, and sexuality are compatibly matched in what should prove to be a very lively relationship. Both you and San are assertive and willing to go after what you want. Your competitive natures and desire for self-expression are focused on mutual interests and goals. The competitiveness in your relationship is likely positive and healthy. You might also need to be active with one another, as excess energy may turn sour if not channeled well. Allowing one another the freedom to pursue separate interests is also important.
Cons
Square Sun - Moon: San may find you too aggressive and pushy while you may find him too emotional and sensitive. Disagreements on how to spend shared finances, how to raise children, and how to spend leisure time are all strong possibilities. Even if you work towards the same goals, the method by which you go about getting there clashes with each other’s “style”. Bickering, nagging, and general discontent can plague this relationship. You will have to consciously work on avoiding putting each other in the position where you feel the need to defend their habits, opinions, and individual identities.
Opposition Mercury - Neptune: Trouble trusting each other. You have trouble understanding each other because you have different ways of communicating and have different perspectives. You may find each other intriguing at first because you’re so different from each other but mistrust tends to develop over time. Misunderstandings could plague the relationship if you are not careful.
Opposition Venus - Jupiter: Budgeting is not one of your strong suits. The desire for instant gratification crops up regularly and you will need to deal with it effectively. You have a tendency to risk with high stakes or expectations and your disappointments can be large. Essentially positive, expansive, generous and joyful, this aspect between your charts generates its share of exaggeration and excess if not handled carefully. This is the classic, “too much of a good thing”. The truth could be stretched or unnecessary risks taken with your resources or your affections. Guard against taking too much for granted, or you may easily lose something valuable to you. Be careful of having too high expectations or promising more than you can truly give. A sport of some kind would be a good outlet for your restless energies.
Square Venus - Neptune: The problem with this aspect is that your Venus tends to assign San with traits of your ideal partner. While he may want you to keep that idealized image of him at the beginning, over time he may feel pressured to meet that ideal and worry that he won’t be able to measure up. He may begin to feel that he is not loved for who he really is.
Opposition Venus - Uranus: You can’t count on each other to be there when you need them. You two may be separated from each other, physically or emotionally, at key moments of the relationship. This relationship is erratic and unstable.
Opposition Mars - Jupiter: You may go too far and take too many risks while together. You may also promise more than you can deliver. You stimulate each other’s desire to experience new and exciting things. You’re more impulsive and willing to take risks while together. This is a good aspect for the sexual side of your relationship. You are able to be open about your sexual desires without feeling self-conscious.
Opposition Jupiter - Uranus: Your views on how to live your life may be very different. This relationship requires lots of room to think, experience and grow on your own as well as within the relationship itself. In order to grow, as a couple or as individuals, you have to find some common ground to build on. Be open to new ideas and trying out new methods of being together.
Overall: You are more spontaneous and openminded together. You stimulate a lot of energy and creativity in each other. Very exciting, but it can be unstable at times. You take a lot of risks while together and this may cause some problems, such as ruining your finances a bit. It is important for you two to be active together and playing a sport together would be a good way to get rid of all the energy you stimulate in each other.
I hope you like it! Feel free to request again at any time~
