You Take A Name

You take a name without knowing them first, easily.

There’s something about a sandstorm that comes and goes.

My face is up next to the chopping block, so to speak.

What have I, if you only leave once the fireworks start.

This time when the sands fall and dust settles,

the hourglass ques our reprise.

I’m at the beachhead counting the stars -

while a single grain gets in my eye.
