ADD Introverts, Unite
That moment when you call upon your actual knowledge to share with others, and instead of coming to you as a full thought, you get all the words out of order and have to try to piece them together as you speak. And it still ends up not making sense, and you probably pulled some of it from somewhere else in your brain because what you had wasn’t making sense. So then you’re lying on accident and uncomfortable, and you end up looking like a try-hard moron. So, yeah, that’s my life on any given day.
An Introvert Talking to Her Crush in One Act
My eyes: *makes eye contact with a cute guy*
My brain: *while panicking* Oh, hi, how are classes going? Were you gonna grab something to eat? I like your shirt. What kind of music are you listening to?
My mouth: ...

I, uh... I really think that the internet (especially tumblr, let’s face it) needs to take a good long look at the difference between introversion and crippling social anxiety. Introversion is a personality trait meaning you gain energy from being solitary, and that being in social situations is more draining for you; you need time by yourself to “recharge”. It is not starting to panic every time you get a phone call, it is not shutting yourself in your room and avoiding communication for days on end, it is not hating spending time with people. This weird introvert culture thing is making symptoms of social anxiety a casual, “relatable” thing - this means that people may not get help for anxiety issues they have, and it also invalidates people who have social issues (due to anxiety disorders, autism, personality disorders, etc.) who are actually more extroverted.
As an introvert, making small talk is just like hearing nails on a chalkboard.
