Iron Eagle (1986)
Louis Gossett, Jr. 1936-2024 RIP
Assigning you a movie the Stranger Things characters would’ve watched based on your birth month
January (my birth month hehe): Iron Eagle (1986), of course the boys love this movie, Lucas even compares Max to Doug Masters when she’s being pursued by Vecna saying that “he needed music too” to reassure her
February: Footloose (1984)- El made them go see this one and knows every song by heart, the boys grumbled that it was too girly but went anyway and Dustin ended up Loving it
March: Beetlejuice (1988)- the boys think this movie is absolutely hilarious especially having seen firsthand normie’s reactions to the strange and unusual, the girls also like it but hate the marrying off the teenage daughter plotline
April: The Outsiders (1983) (yes I know it technically came out the last week of March but hush), the party unanimously love this movie though when they rewatch it with Max she declares Johnny and Ponyboy gay lovers which they argue about
May: Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom (1984), the boys fucking love this movie and immediately go rent the first one upon leaving the theater, they are insufferable about it until Ghostbusters becomes their new obsession (the only reason they go dressed up as the ghostbusters is cause they can’t agree on which of them would get to be Indiana Jones)
June: Ghostbusters (1984), obviously the boys favorite movie and probably their most watched vhs tape, also the first movie they make El watch
July: Caddyshack (1980)- they would’ve been too young to have seen it in theaters but would’ve gotten ahold of the vhs and as rebellious anti-authority teens they would’ve loved it and quoted all the time
August: Weird Science (1985), 14 year old Mike Wheeler loves this movie and it’s one of the many things Max hates about him, the boys and the girls fight over whether it’s a good movie “if it was girls making the ideal man you’d like it!”- Dustin
September: Red Dawn (1984) (I know it came out in August but there are like no September movies cause that’s when school starts I’m sorry), the party unanimously hate this movie “what the hell is the point if the heroes fail!”, they hate it even more once they succeed in defeating Vecna calling the wolverines “weak ass bitches”
October: Reanimator (1985)- since it was rated R they would’ve been too young to see it but I have full confidence that Mike would’ve found a way to sneak them in anyway possibly making use of Max’s lock picking skills, the boys loved this movie and wouldn’t stop talking about it for Weeks
November: They Live (1988), having been involved in their very own government conspiracy they party loves this movie and frequently pretend to be talking about it when Karen asks what they’re talking about when talking about their real experiences
December: Dune (1984), the party is decidedly split on this one Mike and Will (the fantasy nerds that they are) loved it while Dustin and Lucas thought it was boring and didn’t make any sense, they have many many arguments about it
Happy Wright Brothers Day, film fans! Here's some aviation-themed movie art inspired by Snakes on a Plane, Airplane! Skyjacked, Con Air, Top Gun, Iron Eagle, and Air Force One art to celebrate!
my mom just gave me this vinyl and said "that's that plane movie you like, right?" 😭😭 bless her heart
