Yassss. <3 

Rhodes is slow going up to the door, braces a little stiff today, but he knows better than to tell Tony.  He’ll end up making a whole new set. 

The doors to the lab slide open easily, and Rhodey is still looking down at his phone, frown deep.  “Hey, Tones, have you seen the–” he glances up and falters, sees Tony sitting there, a projection of the news coverage about the pardons in front of him.  “Oh.” 

Tony blinks tiredly over at him, offering a crooked smile that Rhodey sees right through.  “Honeybear.” 

“You’ve seen it, then.” 

“Unfortunately.” 

Rhodey’s shoulders straighten out.  He shakes his head.  “Just because they can come back, doesn’t mean you have to let them back here.” 

Tony shudders, rubbing over his face with grease stained hands.  “Yes, I do. I have to.” 

“What you have to do, is get some rest.” Rhodey says.

“Come over here and make me,” Tony mumbles. 

Rhodey makes it across the lab in surprisingly easy strides.  Gets next to him.  Gets a hand on the back of his neck.  Squeezes. 

“C’mon, Tones.” Rhodey says, soft, leaning down and pressing his mouth to Tony’s temple.  “We’ll figure it out tomorrow.  Okay?” 

Tony slumps, leaning into his side.  “Yeah.  Yeah, okay.” 

“Okay,” Rhodey says, and knows that, come morning, with a clear head, they’ll figure this all out.
