May I pick your brain with a question 🌹

If the Headhunter program existed for the Spartan IIs, who do you think would get flagged for it?

Ooo, good question.

My first answer would be Linda-058. She's perfectly comfortable on her own, and I feel her skill set is made for the job.

Then, gut feeling, without much to back me up, I'd say Anton-044. He's a skilled scout, so I imagine he's good at sneaking around to get intel behind enemy lines. Maybe Li-008 as well, since he's the most comfortable in space and good with hand to hand combat, and I feel like behind enemy lines might involve space. (My favorite odd couple, and I am giving myself fanfic ideas. Oh dear.)

From Halo: Legends, I feel Cal-141 would have been a good choice.

Daisy-023 from Halo: Legends, too. Because she was able to escape from the Spartan II Program, and later was shown apparently being a lone operator, and utterly calm about this. (I specify the one from Halo: Legends, because the Daisy-023 from the Halo: Silent Storm novel seemed more like a hothead with a firm attachment to her fellow Spartans, which is my preferred way to write her in fanfic.)

James-005 for reasons, other than my undying love for him.

And Gray Team is kind of a proto-Headhunter unit.

James getting bit on the arm by a little girl and going basically "Wow, that hurt way more than I was prepared for" only to - not even a minute later - jump from a third story window and land on a moving car with his body (wearing regular civilian clothes btw), dent it badly enough that he was pretty sure his landing 'damaged the inner mechanics' and wouldn't work anymore, and then proceed to not once mention anything further about the car is actually kinda funny. Like he's familiar with vehicles enough in every concievable way through context, but the ten year old girl's teeth were a surprise.

"Hey," the unknown Spartan in black armor said, "You got left on Reach, too?"

James blinked behind the visor, "Yeah… Not voluntarily though."

"What happened?"

James' skin itched with apprehension. "Blaster fire hit my jetpack, and I spiraled out of control. Lost contact with my team. Somehow ended up here."

It was a minute until the other Spartan spoke again, in harsh breaths, "Mission failed?"

"I don't know. Haven't been able to regain any contact."

"Hmm."

James' skin prickled, and he looked outside. It didn't feel safe to stay in the cave, but it was arguably safer than staying outside. His hand absently touched the burn mark that his armor had taken from the blast. He turned back to the Spartan sitting against the stone wall. Their scorched and dirty armor revealed the hell they'd gone through.

"What about you?" James asked.

The question hung in the air with no answer for so long James almost thought the Spartan hadn’t heard or was ignoring him.

"My team died," the voice had tiredness lingering in it. "I was close. Managed to fight my way out and escape."

James noticed reddened parts of the armor. Blood.

Didn't get away unscathed.

"Your designation?" James asked tentatively.

The Spartan lifted their head, visor meeting visor. "SPARTAN-B312, but I go by the callsign Noble Six."

James stepped forward and offered a hand. "James-005. How do you feel about getting away from here?"

Noble Six stared at the hand the other Spartan offered to him, but took it. They groaned in pain as James helped haul them up, letting them lean against him in support.

Noble Six grunted out, "I feel that to be a risky plan."

James let out a breath, taking hold of the arm slung over his shoulder, and the two Spartans slowly made their way to the cave's entrance.

"Everything's a risk now, Spartan. Taking risks is what we do. Now is no different."

Operation Red flag: a mission to capture a covenant ship and use it to capture a covenant leader to force a treaty.

Operation Upper cut: a mission to capture a covenant ship and use it to destroy the CSO class covenant supercarrier (Long Night of Solace)

Why didn't they just use the first covenant ship(Ardent Prayer) after noble team captured it the rest of the Spartans would use it? Reach still would have fallen but all the chess pieces go in the same box when the game is done. And i would have loved to see Jorge reunite with the Spartan-II's
