Lately, my husband, has been obsessed with watching videos on how to make jianbing— Chinese pancakes. After what felt like a hundred clips, he finally decided to give it a try.

I was just sitting in the living room, not paying much attention because, honestly, he’s probably watched 100 clips already; that’s why I call him “HaiYang 100 Clips.” 😆

He spent quite a while in the kitchen and came out with nothing in his hands. Curious, I went to take a look… and what I saw left me speechless: something that looked like a yellow “mystery bomb” 😂 and a bowl of overly watery batter.

So I stepped in, fixed things up a little, and made two proper pancakes from what was left; for him, of course.

烤冷面 // Kaolengmian I was confused by the name because 面 (mian in Chinese, 麺 / men in Japanese) means noodles, but it turns out that the crepe wrapping is actually uncut noodle sheets. It’s similar to 煎饼 jianbing (it’s hard for me to tell the difference), but with a stronger, spicier flavor—filled with onion, cilantro, and sausage. In any case, I loved it.
