it’s ironic and seems downright like a betrayal against his company, like he’s cheating on them. serim can’t help it, though, he just doesn’t vibe well with luxe’s releases. he’s an eclipse stan but specifically for anna and his ringtone is even from the girl group, too. although, while he’s at training, he keeps his phone on vibrate only so he doesn’t get caught. 

he’s busy tweeting and fighting his friend on twitter like he doesn’t have things to do that he doesn’t realize he’s bumping into someone else. around his neck rest his headphones and it happens so fast from the encounter with the stranger that bumped into him that his finger slips and slides the volume all the way up. the noise coming from his headphones was jarring, sure, but the embarrassment came from the fact that he had been listening to eclipse’s navillera within royal’s walls and now this stranger knew his weakness.

MAY 2020 EVALUATIONS. ✰ song. WHY SO LONELY ( acoustic ver. ) by H.A.M

there is an ease with which she carries herself; the epitome of someone who knows she had done her best and can lose only at the hands of others’ ( poor ) judgement. jisoo had put her heart and soul into this performance and worked with the girls tirelessly to make sure that they are walking into that stage prepared. if they do not gain the victory by the end of it, she knew beyond anything that it is not her or any of the girls’ faults.

they present a beautiful collective. twenty-somethings filled with passions and dreams. as the oldest royal girl, she cannot help but feel a sort of responsibility for the five other ladies who are currently sharing the stage with her. while she knew she would not be the most commendable leader, she can perhaps be a voice of comfort, reason, and encouragement instead. at the very least, she hopes that this is how she was able to grow into over the course of the month. if not, she knew she would always strive to reach that for as long as she is in the company.

the music from the guitar and the cajon plays beautifully throughout the auditorium. rose and yuzu were playing spectacularly, both of them in-tune with each other. as jiwoo starts the song, jisoo swings softly in time with the melody. soon enough, she had her first line to sing.

spending a weekend night with you  i thought it would be sweet but nothing has changed, you haven’t changed

as she sings, she tries to embody to embody the melancholic message of the song. of a heartbreak and a longing for a relationship that was not quite the same. it was though she was speaking to a nonexistent lover as her eyes deliver the pain that the song was trying to make her feel. she dives into the song with just about the perfect amount of emotion. it helps that why so lonely was not particularly a difficult song to sing. it was right up her alley and one that did not require much effort from her vocally. the more that she listens to herself and the other girls, she knew that it was the perfect call for them to agree on this song.

as lisa breaks through with her rap verse followed shortly by gahyeon’s, she knew the performance was almost about to close. she feels a little sad, somehow, knowing that this is the first evaluation she has enjoyed in months. still, as they approach the final chorus with her singing one of the last few lines, jisoo gives it her all.

the last line was effectively delivered by gahyeon. as they hear polite applauses, the girls from royal take their bow. once they were walking off that stage, she allows herself to break out into a proud smile. even if they do not win this and go home with a vacation waiting for them, jisoo already knows that the promise and the image of debuting with these girls is already a gift in itself for her.

           2020 ♡ MAY EVALUATION        why so lonely ∘ wonder girls h.a.m 

rose is weighed down by a guitar, slung across her shoulder. for once, she’s enthused and bright eyed. the month of may had come to a close and it’s pending evaluation was about to begin. it’s no secret that the feelings between the royal girls and their thoughts on the evaluation are mixed. some are excited while others are excited for it to all be over. and it wasn’t to say that this month hadn’t been challenging, because it had been. but everyone had done their best to work together and reach out when they needed it. it wasn’t easy being out of one’s element, rose knew that for a fact. dancers felt unsettled sitting for a whole song and not being able to move their body. rose felt secure with her guitar in her grasp, a luxury she had stripped from her some while ago.

the girls assemble and find their places for their evaluation, sitting together in somewhat of a half moon shape. rose’s guitar occupies her lap while yuzu manages her cajon, a newer instrument for her but one she managed to pick up rather successfully. yuzu counts them in, down from four and the two of them set the pace for their performance, playing an acoustic rendition of h.a.m’s iconic song, why so lonely. jiwoo opens the song with her sweet vocals. rose taps her head and foot to the beat, keeping herself in check with yuzu. her eyes drift between the coaches and the other girls, and obviously to the instrument in her hands. and before rose knows it, it’s her turn.

the chorus isn’t difficult for rose to sing, it’s definitely within her range. it comes easy to her. her voice is clear, but soft and sweet. it’s somewhat of a relief that she’s left with the chorus because for a whole song she can focus on doing what she really loves. not that playing guitar involved much focus because rose could play with her eyes closed. she listens to the other girls sing and rap, and rose can’t help but feel overwhelmingly proud. to think that some of the girls were so hesitant and uncertain about this evaluation, and now look at them. rose was starting to think that they might actually have it in the bag to win this thing if they keep it up. 

they run through another couple of verses, followed by rose’s chorus again. she begins to feel excitement brewing in her gut for gahyeon’s rap verses, knowing how hard she and lisa worked to perfect them. rose wonders how lisa is holding up, is this it? is this enough to win it. and even if it’s not enough to win the grand prize, some time away from the crazed, hysteria of seocho and the entertainment world, at least they proved to themselves that they can do just about anything. it made rose certain of one thing. if she was gonna stick it out, it was gonna be with them.

ryujin hasn’t figured out how she feels about halloween as of yet. she’s still a firm believer in the nonexistence of the supernatural, that much she is absolutely sure of. but participating in a bunch of festivities meant to remind people of monsters of all kinds? well, she figures there are worse places to be in the world than here. initially she came to the zombie night thing not from her own volition, but rather coaxed into it by friends. ryujin is not the kind to say no to something fun, not usually, but sometimes she regrets giving in to her friends’ every whims.

but for all her moodiness, ryujin discovers that she’s having fun nonetheless. the people she came to the event with are not entirely a bad company and she laughs more than she sulks so she considers it as a win really. the time to part ways with them comes by pretty quick however, because she’s planned to hang out with some of her other friends from highschool, mainly jiwoo if she’s being honest. ryujin hasn’t seen the girl in a while and she misses all the shenanigans they got themselves into while they were both attending hanlim.

the older girl’s silhoette can be recognize in the distance by the trained eye so when ryujin spots her, she rushes over and after a short session of enthusiastic waving she tackles jiwoo into a bear hug. “jiwoo unnie!!!” it comes out as a screach and honestly she hopes she doesn’t endanger her friend’s ears with it, but she’s so incredibly excited she can’t contain it all in her slim body. “have you eaten? how have you been lately? is your health good?” the questions arrive one after the other in a jumble while ryujin releases her friend, though not completely, keeping her at arms length

any dongsaeng who are very precious to you?

“lots of dongsaeng!” ( ‘ -- he happily responds, already lifting his hand up and tugging down the sleeve of his jacket, the fabric crumpling at his elbow as he tries to work out where to start. ) “there’s... my sister, pretty mina and my cutie cousin jiwoo, and hyuncutie, chaeyoungie, donghoney, hosungie, eric, mark, younghoonie, dongminnie, seonho..” ( ‘ -- as he lists, he realises that he runs out of fingers very quickly, and has to exhale a soft sigh. he knew that he had many dongsaeng, ones who he wanted to take care of and shower with affection as much as possible. still, thinking of them all, he realised that he must be very lucky to have them. ) “and then there’s the new sphere boy trainees, and some of the convex sunbaes. youngjae, gukkie,  junie, handsome hyun, tennie, and i like sweetcheol and jihoon too. i think they are all very precious, and i would do anything to make sure that they are happy and healthy. it’s sad though, because i don’t get to seem them very much.”

Girls, especially young ones, were bad news for Yuta. Only last month he’d had to sit there with Somi, watching her heart break and he did not want it to happen again. He was trying to convince himself that it was not his fault that he was so devilishly handsome and charming, and that he’d done nothing wrong. Still, he was nervous when he glanced at the girl in the group. A new trainee, coming in recently, and wondering how he could avoid making her fall in love with him. If he was too nice, girls would like it. If he was too mean, they would like it. It took him most of the first half of the practice to work out how to handle the situation. Be like Johnny. No girl would ever fall in love with Johnny, Yuta was certain of it, and Johnny would be weird and nice and treat them like a little sister. All Yuta had to do was treat her like a little sister.

The lyric papers in hand as he approached her, bowing his head and a smile tugging onto his lips. “I’m Yuta. A TRC trainee. I know you’re new, so.. did you want to practice together? Lyrics or.. dancing?” He tried to talk how he imagined Johnny would, calm and polite, and boring. It might have been slowly killing him on the inside, but he was not going to repeat the same mistakes. The tips of his fingers scratching at the edge of the paper, wondering if he didn’t sound factual and logical enough. Should he check the humidity of the room? That seemed like something Johnny would do, but he had no idea how to do that. Was there a phone application that would do that? Yuta didn’t know. It was difficult not being himself, an awkwardness that he hoped she wouldn’t notice. 

“I’ve been a trainee for over year, so if you need any help. I can help.”

food carts are everywhere in the area. there are so many options that sakura hasn't picked anything to eat yet because all of the content in the bubble festival have some interesting choices for foods. also, she's thankful to be beside her good friend, jiwoo. sakura didn't want to attend this event alone.

“have you picked out anything yet?” she asks her friend, sakura would tag along on the waves with whatever choice jiwoo picks. she keeps walking, their trail leading to a funnel cake shop! “what about funnel cakes?” she’s kind of guilty for not having eaten actual food in her stomach. it feels wrong because she’s breaking her habits of eating healthy ( or attempting to ).
