Kim Jongdae was a notorious heartbreaker. Rumor had it he’d turned down over twenty proposals, one of which was from a princess. Those rejected swore he had a heart of ice under that charismatic mask, unfeeling and even delighting in the pain he caused. Considering how much wealth he’d amassed in the few years since starting his company, one assumed he was simply wary of gold diggers, holding out for the one who wanted him and not the money in his bank account.
But the truth was much simpler than that.
Most of the lights were out in the building. It was nearing midnight and many of the workers had gone home for the day. Yet, Jongdae knew there was always one who stayed late, obsessively working on assets for the newest project. As usual, he found you at your desk, eyes focused on your computer monitor as you worked on a character model.
“You’re doing it again.” He whispered, careful not to startle you, as he took in your disheveled hair and dark circles under your eyes. “It’s long past time to call it a day.”
“I know, Mr. Kim. But I swear I’ve almost finished the design. She moves a lot better, but it’s just—”
“You said that last time. And the time before that. It’s always something that keeps you from putting the work down.” He stepped closer and gently knocked your hands away from the keyboard and mouse. For the first time, you looked up at him.
“But I mean it this time. Just a little longer and she’ll be ready to import.”
“And then what? You’ll have to wait for everyone to come back in and look at her. There’s no reason you can’t finish tomorrow after you’ve had a good night’s sleep and a fresh cup of coffee.” You looked away, and he added softly, “Please. It kills me to see you running yourself into the ground like this.”
“I just want to do my best.”
“And you are. But you can’t continue to do that if you don’t take care of your body.” He sighed and squatted beside your chair. “I wouldn’t forgive myself if you got sick, or worse. So please? Since it’s so late, I’ll give you a ride home.”
“I don’t want to trouble you—”
“I promise you, you’re not. I’d also feel better seeing you home safely instead of taking public transportation this late.” He patted your hand and stood. “So, save your work and I’ll meet you by the elevator in five, okay?”
When you nodded and moved the mouse to the file menu, he turned and headed back to his office with a smile. Why would he accept any arranged marriage requests if none of them were you?

“You’re doing it wrong.”
Snapping your focus away from the sheet music, your fingers ceased in playing the melody as you saw who stood in the doorway. You heaved out a breath and then smiled politely. “This is a private practice room.”
“I know, you’ve booked it for the next two hours as well,” Jongdae mentioned, pointing to the sheet attached to the door. “Still, if I have to spend the next two hours walking back and forth up this hallway hearing you doing it wrong, well, it’s going to get on my nerves.”
“Clearly, you don’t realise how much you’re getting on mine,” you muttered and the man smirked, stepping into the room. You willed him to leave with a glare, which he either ignored or didn’t see.
Hitting a lone key on the piano, Jongdae looked down at you sternly. “Hit the note again.”
“Excuse me? I didn’t sign up for a vocal lesson today. Especially with the likes of you.”
“Oh, you mean as the one with the most experience?” Jongdae stated, grinning lopsidedly. “Don’t worry, Y/N. I won’t charge you for it. Now, hit that note again.”
You didn’t know what compelled you to do it. Nor did you realise how obedient you were over the next thirty minutes as Jongdae drew out a sound that you had been struggling to reach. His expressions were now gentle, smiling and nodding at you as you hit the note over and over, each time with more conviction.
He had truly morphed the sound of your song already.
When you came to a stop after singing the full chorus, you looked at the man beside you and smiled. “Well, I hate that I’m admitting this but thank you. That really helped me.”
“Do you know what else I’m sure you’d hate to admit?” Jongdae questioned and you narrowed your gaze on the charming smile on his lips. He was always dangerously handsome when he got like this.
“What?”
“All this tension between us is not because you hate how good I am, though, I don’t think it’s all that bad to have a rival,” he started and you rolled your eyes at his cockiness, about to cut him off when he stole the words right out of your mouth, kissing you passionately.
You cursed inwardly for wasting no time in responding, your hand reaching out to grip the edge of his unzipped jacket, drawing him in closer. Your lips melded together as if they had the fitting components to become one and you didn’t pull away until you were breathless, staring at Jongdae wide-eyed. He was dishevelled and yet he smirked, wiping at his now swollen lips as he stood up. You followed his movement, addicted to the bitter taste of him already.
“Looks like we might have to explore this more often, Y/N. I’ll let you get back to your practice. I’ll be listening out to ensure you’re hitting all those notes too.”
“What if I don’t?” you breathed, and Jongdae stilled in his departure, throwing a look at you over his shoulder.
“I guess we’ll have to get more creative in how I help you reach those high notes then.”
[6:24] Your hands intertwined, you looked up at Jongdae as he continued to serenade you, nothing but the sound of his angelic voice filling the room. A warmth filled your chest, a sensation so strong that you could barely contain it. That was the moment you realized that what you were feeling was love.

All of your friends— fellow princesses from neighboring kingdoms— tired of telling you about their families’ disastrous attempts at matchmaking. Yes, you listened to their concerns and sympathized with them, but they knew you couldn’t relate to them because you were deeply in love with your betrothed.
Because he was the first son of the nearest kingdom, Jongdae was introduced to you at a very young age. It was decided shortly after your birth that you would be wed— and you had both been aware of that for most of your lives.
Maybe you would have devoted some of your adolescent rage to opposing the marriage had Jongdae not been a human embodiment of perfection. His every action proved an unwavering love for you: from leaving heartfelt notes in your favorite books; to embracing every opportunity to press soft kisses to the back of your hand; to proudly escorting you around his palace.
Aware of your desire to see the world, he often helped you climb to the top of the palace gates, where you could sit together and look out at the scenery.
“C’mon, Y/N.” He smiled as he tugged you into the space next to him atop the sturdy wall for the first time. “Is it as beautiful as you imagined?”
All you could say as you leaned against him, afraid to fall from that height, was, “Your kingdom is really beautiful. I think it’s prettier than mine.”
“Yeah? Well— it’s not just mine,” Jongdae reminded. He secured his hold around you as he said, “It’ll be yours too, as soon as we’re married.”
Hey Ayla!!!! I alwaya arrive late to the party 😭😭😭 so girlie... can I request 'His awakening Dragon Jongdae" with 8 & 13? Or anything Jongdae you had in mind with that face of his :-3 hahaha. Thanks so much in advance 😘😘😘 - @oh-beyond
New Years Event OPEN
Prompts: Smut 8. Beg for it + Angst 13. Did you think of me when you were having sex with her?
You shouldn’t be surprised, you weren’t in a relationship with him and he’s a damn mythical creature who’s been asleep for a thousand odd years but it still hurt. You had found out that he had recently taken up sleeping with another woman from your village and when you confronted him, Jongdae acted like it wasn’t a big deal.
“Did you think of me when you were having sex with her?” You shout at him, fists clenched as you watch him lean against the wall with arms crossed. “Did you care at all how I would feel?”
Jongdae shrugs, scratching his chin absentmindedly as he watches you become more feral by the second. “Why should I?” Your eyes widen in disbelief, you thought that you meant something to him “You are the woman I come back to, the one whom shares my bed and is there every morning. I catch fish for you, I keep your body warm in the cold and I find you the prettiest of jewels; why should I worry about how you feel when that other woman is nothing but a means to an end?”
You scoff, turning in a circle in frustration as you try to reason with him. You may share the bed, share a home and have everything with him without the commitment but that’s what you want – commitment.
“Because I want to be the only woman you bed, the only one who gets to feel your naked skin against hers. I want to be everything to you.” A toothy grin spreads across Jongdae’s lips as he shrugs off from the wall and stalks towards you; his eyes glimmer in the light of the fire as he comes to a stop before you.
Lifting a hand to stroke your cheek, a low rumble vibrates through his chest; a sign of his affection. “You want to be the only woman for me?” You nod and Jongdae chuckles as he grips your chin. “How humanly selfish of you, little flower; I will live on long after you are dead and you still want to be the only woman for me.” His voice is soft but his words echo through your mind.
“Yes,” you mutter, not wanting to be too loud in such an intimate moment with him. Jongdae rarely touches you so softly unless it’s aftercare.
“Beg for it,” he grins when shock spreads across your features, “beg for it and you’ll be the only woman I take until your body is laid to rest.” You open your lips to beg but Jongdae captures your words with his lips and you don’t resist as he claims you as his.

You hated him even before he was your neighbor. You both went to high school together and he always one upped you. He’d get top honors while you were only a few points away from beating him. He got the lead role in the musical while you became the supporting lead. He was always first pick during Phys Ed while you were the obvious second choice.
It annoyed you to hell. There really was no reason for you to be annoyed, really. Jongdae was a nice person. He was happy, smiley, friendly and thought of others before himself. Maybe that was why he rubbed your feathers the wrong way. He just seemed too perfect and you were waiting for the day for him to slip up so that you could laugh and tell everyone that he really wasn’t the angel that everyone made him to be.
But, that opportunity didn’t happen in high school, unfortunately. He’d gotten accepted to Julliard for college (of course) while you went to Rice University (yes, another music college but not like Julliard dammit you were comparing again!). You bristled as soon as you heard the news.
“Why do you care so much?” murmured one of your best friends with a knowing smirk.
“It’s just... ugh, it’s just annoying! He’s annoying! Could he be any more -- .”
“Cuter?”
“No! Gross!”
“Oh, c’mon, Y/N! We all know you like him. You’re just masking it with irritation!”
“That’s because I am irritated!” Your best friend tsk’ed as you murmured to yourself, “Thank goodness we’re not going to the same school.”
Your head fell back in annoyance as you stared at your laptop. You decided to work from home today because you woke up late but to top it off, your Wi-Fi was slower than usual. This wasn’t normal, not when you paid for fast internet (you’d made sure of it) because your nerd self couldn’t handle anything less.
You clicked on your Wi-Fi settings only to see that someone else was using it. You let out a sigh before putting on your slippers, not caring that you were in your pajamas and stalked out of your apartment. Your Wi-Fi could only go so far that you knocked on the door across the hall from you.
Then, you’d heard it.
“IT WORKED!” came a muffled voice. But, it was a voice you’d always known. Your eyes widened. No way.
You were already backing away when the door flew open to reveal four pairs of eyes looking at you. There was a beat of silence and then, “Y/N?!”
“Oh god, I’m hallucinating,” you muttered under your breath as you saw Jongdae walk towards you, that signature smirk of his already on his face.
“Nice jammies. Wait, we’re neighbors?”
“Yah, Jongdae, introduce us to your cute neighbor!” piped up one of the boys. He was holding what seemed to be a Playstation controller and you could see behind them that the apartment was filled with unopened luggage and boxes with some Chinese takeout boxes strewn about on the floor. The only organized thing was the television with the game they were supposedly playing until you interrupted them.
“Did you just move...” you started but then caught yourself. “You’re using my Wi-Fi!”
Jongdae simply leaned on the door, smirk still in place. “After all these years, Y/N, and you still haven’t changed. Definitely much --- .”
“Yah, Jongdae!”
“Look, we just wanted to take a break from moving in and yours was the only Wi-Fi we could find, so...” He pouted. You’d seen it before and, god, it was almost working.
“Half an hour,” you muttered, turning on your heel and walking back to your apartment before he could say a word.
“You know her?” asked Baekhyun as he watched you walk away while Jongdae stood at the door in awe.
“Yeah. Yeah, I do.”
Jongdae threw a party next door and you could hear it from your apartment. You could hear the music. You could hear the chatter. You could hear his laughter and it drove you insane.
He’d slipped a note under your door one night but you’d just crumpled it and threw it in the trash can. Then again, you stared at the trash can for a good few seconds before diving back in to get the details in case you needed it. Just in case. Of course.
After a good ten minutes of pacing, then another half hour of figuring out what to wear, you’d peeked your head out from your door only to find that his door was wide open and that it was filled with people. There were too many people. You wondered if the landlord was going to kick him out because of this.
But, before you could get any further with your daydream of Jongdae being kicked out of his apartment, your cat meandered over across the hall and inside Jongdae’s apartment and before you knew it, you were inside, eyes on the floor as you muttered, “Marco!” every now and then to find your cat.
“Polo!”
You frowned. “Marco! Where did you go?!”
“Polo, where did you go?!”
You sighed, turning around to see Jongdae with two beers in hand.
“That’s not funny,” you muttered.
“It kind of is,” he smirked as he offered you a beer. “How about we look for your cat after you take a swig of this?”
“They taught us peer pressure in school, remember, and the answer is no.”
“Oh, so you do remember me!” he said with a smug smile that made you want to smother his face. (With what, you weren’t sure.)
“Yah, Jongdae --- .”
“Because here I thought that the Y/N from high school was too good for -- .”
“Too good for what?!”
“I mean, I was still first for -- .”
Your insides boiled and you thanked the heavens when you saw Marco slinking over to you. You immediately grabbed him while Jongdae took a step back. “Thanks for the invite but I have to go.”
The next morning when you opened your door, there was a bulk sized pack of cat food with a written note included, I used your Wi-Fi again. You’d suddenly never been more angry with such a good-looking douchebag.
Your heater went out. It’s the middle of winter and your heater went out. You’d already notified your landlord but he wouldn’t be able to take care of it until the next day. You were already wearing a tank top, a sweater, another sweater, a beanie and multiple layers of tights and socks. Your next plan was to burrito yourself on your bed with blankets but you were slowly losing faith that you’d survive the next day.
You eyed your front door while Marco pawed at you. Poor thing was also just as cold.
“No,” you muttered at Marco while he simply stared back as if he knew what you were saying. “No, that’s not what we’re going to do!”
He mewled. You sighed. “Fine.”
You picked up Marco and knocked on Jongdae’s door. There was a shuffle then the door opened and there he was, his hair sticking up in random places (was he sleeping on the couch?) and also in sweats but in not as many layers as you. You felt the warmth from his apartment and you’d almost ran inside.
“Y/N?”
“I, uh...”
Marco meowed as if to remind you what to say.
“My heater broke and -- .”
“Come in, come in already,” he chuckled, taking your arm gently and pulling you inside. He rushed over to the kitchen to boil hot water on the kettle and you hoped it’d be hot chocolate with marshmallows.
“Thanks,” you replied shyly as Marco jumped out of your arms and started exploring Jongdae’s apartment. “Hey, so...”
He pursed his lips and turned around to watch you expectantly. “I’ll stop using your Wi-Fi, I promise! I already got mine all hooked up and I won’t invite you to any loud parties so that Marco won’t --- .”
“I was going to say thanks,” you interrupted, “and sorry. I can be -- .”
“Annoying?”
“So can you!”
He paused and chuckled. “True.”
You both stood there in awkward silence.
“It’s really nice seeing you again, Y/N,” he said and you heard the sincerity in his voice. “It’s nice to have a friend in the city.”
You frowned. “Friend? What about all those other guys?”
“They don’t live here,” he said with a shrug. “And, to be honest, I was wondering how to ask you to hang out with me. If I’d known it’d take a broken heater, then -- .”
“Yah!” you laughed but the kettle whistled and Jongdae ran to take out two mugs for the both of you. You saw him reach for the hot chocolate powder and you couldn’t help but smile.
“So, before we start marathoning whatever it is we find on Netflix,” he said before turning around to hand you your mug. “Could you answer a question for me?”
“Um, sure?”
“Why do I get on your nerves? Everyone knew in high school.” He looked at you and you could see that he really just wanted to know.
You lifted a shoulder, your hands wrapped around the warm mug. “Well, uh...”
“You also got on my nerves,” he interrupted.
“Me?!”
“Yeah,” he nodded. “You ignored me all those years!”
“I did not ignore you! If anything, all I could think about was -- .” Him. All you could think about was him.
He smirked a knowing smile and gestured towards your hot chocolate as if he suddenly understood and as if you suddenly understood what was brewing under the covers all these years.
“Drink it before it gets cold. Now, what show should we start with for the night? It’ll probably take forever to fix your heater, so we might as well do an all nighter!”
Hi sweetie! I hope you're doing well! Something different this time 'round- maybe something fun with BFFs Minseok and Jongdae? Sending you hugs and I hope your hiatus was restful and happy!

Looking up at the sky, you tried to watch the clouds as you spun around, knowing if you kept staring at your surroundings you’d grow dizzy and scared.
“Quick Minseok, leap off, it’s slowing down!” Jongdae exclaimed and you squealed when your friend did, landing well enough despite the roundabout still spinning around. Minseok reached out for one of the bars, using his force to bring it to a halt. You relaxed your hands for a moment, catching your breath. You wouldn’t let them know you were scared of how fast they liked the playground equipment to go.
Minseok smiled at you knowingly. “I think Y/N’s had enough.”
“Me?” Immediately shaking your head stubbornly, you gripped back on. “I can keep up with you!”
“Well then, shall we go another round?”

Life had spun so fast that somehow you were staring down at a gown that seemed too adult for you to wear. Still, you had been waiting for this day to come and as you admired yourself in the full-length mirror, you smiled at the image reflecting back at you.
“It’s your turn now, huh Y/N?” Jongdae piped up from his spot beside you and you nodded, trying to hide how worried you were about tripping down the aisle towards your fiance. Minseok reached forward and squeezed your shoulder reassuringly.
“It’s not up to us anymore to watch out for when you’ve had enough,” he lamented and you grinned.
“Was there ever a time I couldn’t keep up with you? I can do this too just like you both have."
Hi sweetie! If there's still space, can I ask for a fluffy Jongdae scenario? Maybe something where you two relax and watch a movie at home? Thank you!!
You know the answer is always yes <3

“This is nice, isn’t it?” you mentioned, reaching for some of the popcorn in the bowl sitting on Jongdae’s lap. Your boyfriend smiled, nodding softly and turned his attention back to the movie.
It wasn’t that it wasn’t a very interesting one, you were just distracted. It had been a while since you and Jongdae had just spent the night together like this. Work had been hectic for you both and soon date night had been put on the back burner. You didn’t realise you had missed it until now. Snuggling further into his side, you pecked at the skin exposed from his loosened shirt.
“Watch the movie, Y/N.”
“I am.”
Five minutes later you had threaded your fingers with his, loosely running your thumb over his hand. Jongdae shot you a look. “What! I’m watching the movie!”
“Okay, that’s it I can’t concentrate,” he announced and you gaped at him when he turned off the TV.
“What about our movie night?!”
“Tell me one full scene,” he instructed with an expectant look, his eyebrow raising with his suspicions when you couldn’t string one together. “You weren’t in the mood for the movie.”
“I was content snuggling up with you though!”
Jongdae smirked, leaning in to kiss you. “I don’t think you want the movie, you just want me.”
“Not in that way -- though I-”
Kissing you again, Jongdae pulled you into an embrace. “Let’s just snuggle and be like this then.”
