Hey can i get a headcanon with jongdae where the reader break up with him out of sudden, they were dating for a very long time
a/n: in this blog we love and write for jongdae. this is in no way an attempt to disrespect him or his beautiful family - please, notice that this is only fictional.
jongdae is very open minded and sympathetic
he always tries to understand the reasons someone had to do what they did
perhaps that's why it killed him when you left
he spent days, maybe weeks trying to figure out when everything went wrong
trying to understand your reasons - if you had any, cause as much as he begged you to tell him why, you never did
jongdae tried to make it work
he tried to talk you into staying, he promised he would get better
at what? he didn't know, he thought your relationship was doing just fine, but at that point he was willing to tell you anything you'd want to hear
but it killed him how you didn't even open your mouth to answer him
it killed him how you just kept repeating "please, let me go"
so he did, he let you slip through his fingers
and now nothing was the same
jongdae wasn't the smiling sunshine he used to be
he went to practice in silence, only talking to his members when needed, and then left in silence too
both junmyeon and jongin tried to talk to him, to make him feel better
gosh, even kyungsoo tried to get his friend back
but they couldn't
they couldn't because jongdae wasn't gone, he was just... lost
if he had an answer on why you left him - you, of all people; the one he loved the most -, then maybe things would be better
maybe jongdae would get the closure he craved so much
but he didn't
you went away and left him in the dark, desperately trying to find some light
but even if he did, jongdae knew it would be hard to get used to it again
he doesn't engage in any kind of toxic behavior
he might go out for drinks with minseok once or twice, but that's it
besides that, he shuts himself from the world
as in, people don't see jongdae walking around anymore
they don't hear jongdae's laugh echoing through the hallways anymore
he feels empty, and at some point it's not even because he doesn't have you anymore
he loves you enough to know that you deserve to be happy, even if it's not with him
but it's because he can't understand why
and that turns into anger after some time
not at you - never at you
jongdae gets angry exactly because he can't hate you
because even though you abandoned him, and he understands now that what you did was an abandonment, he simply can't make himself hate you
so yeah, it takes time for him to heal
time, effort, a lot of self love
you made him a mess when you left
and you'll never know how hard it was for him to clean everything up

Inspired by this post.
Kim Jongdae was a notorious heartbreaker. Rumor had it he’d turned down over twenty proposals, one of which was from a princess. Those rejected swore he had a heart of ice under that charismatic mask, unfeeling and even delighting in the pain he caused. Considering how much wealth he’d amassed in the few years since starting his company, one assumed he was simply wary of gold diggers, holding out for the one who wanted him and not the money in his bank account.
But the truth was much simpler than that.
Most of the lights were out in the building. It was nearing midnight and many of the workers had gone home for the day. Yet, Jongdae knew there was always one who stayed late, obsessively working on assets for the newest project. As usual, he found you at your desk, eyes focused on your computer monitor as you worked on a character model.
“You’re doing it again.” He whispered, careful not to startle you, as he took in your disheveled hair and dark circles under your eyes. “It’s long past time to call it a day.”
“I know, Mr. Kim. But I swear I’ve almost finished the design. She moves a lot better, but it’s just—”
“You said that last time. And the time before that. It’s always something that keeps you from putting the work down.” He stepped closer and gently knocked your hands away from the keyboard and mouse. For the first time, you looked up at him.
“But I mean it this time. Just a little longer and she’ll be ready to import.”
“And then what? You’ll have to wait for everyone to come back in and look at her. There’s no reason you can’t finish tomorrow after you’ve had a good night’s sleep and a fresh cup of coffee.” You looked away, and he added softly, “Please. It kills me to see you running yourself into the ground like this.”
“I just want to do my best.”
“And you are. But you can’t continue to do that if you don’t take care of your body.” He sighed and squatted beside your chair. “I wouldn’t forgive myself if you got sick, or worse. So please? Since it’s so late, I’ll give you a ride home.”
“I don’t want to trouble you—”
“I promise you, you’re not. I’d also feel better seeing you home safely instead of taking public transportation this late.” He patted your hand and stood. “So, save your work and I’ll meet you by the elevator in five, okay?”
When you nodded and moved the mouse to the file menu, he turned and headed back to his office with a smile. Why would he accept any arranged marriage requests if none of them were you?
A/N: My first Chen writing to celebrate his birthday :)
You had been waiting outside your building for Chen for nearly 10 minutes. He had promised to meet you here for date night, but you were starting to think you might just give up and go back in. No sooner had thought crossed your mind, someone snuck up beside you and placed a quick kiss on your cheek.
You jumped slightly as you looked round and found Chen grinning at you.
"Where have you been?" you asked, trying to be stern, but failing miserably when you couldn't help but smile back.
"Does it matter? I'm here now," he replied, pulling you in for a proper kiss before you could respond.
"You're lucky you're cute," you told him, squeezing his cheek.
He grabbed your hand away from his face and laced his fingers through yours so you could walk to the restaurant hand-in-hand.
"Honestly, I just took longer getting ready than I'd planned for," he explained as the two off you headed off. "I wanted to make sure I was looking my best for you."
"You always look amazing."
"So do you. Especially right now."
"Thanks, I put a lot of effort in too," you said, doing a little pose and making him laugh.
With your hand still in his, he pulled you close again and bringing your hand to his lips pressing a quick kiss to the back of it.
To the softest, sweetest, most caring, most talented person of them all- Kim Jongdae. EXO wouldn’t be where it is now without this man, happy birthday Kim Jongdae. You deserve all the happiness the world gives you.

“I feel like I shouldn’t be here.” As you turn to look over your shoulder, your face instantly turned as it you were a dear caught in headlights.
Standing at the threshold of the kitchen was your husband, his shirt now loosely tucked from his pants and his hair already messed up. Unlike you, his shocked face turned to amused and even somewhat teasing as he saw your reaction.
“You weren’t supposed to be home for another hour.” You said timidly, turning to face him fully with the mixer still on your hands, some of the contents dripping on the floor.
Jongdae shrugged, opening the fridge on the side to take a water bottle out. “Sehun and Chanyeol wanted to do a live, our manager made us go home immediately.” Jongdae said, a smile on his face as he opened the cap and begin drinking.
You sighed in defeat, turning back around to place the mixer beside the bowl and lean back to the counter. “I thought I still have an hour.” You said before letting out a defeated sigh.
Jongdae just chuckled at this, going over to you and giving you a kiss, backing away to admire you with the most shinning look, brushing a hair back before giving you another kiss. “Don’t worry, continue what you’re doing. I’ll pretend I didn’t see anything.”
You whined at his teasing, Jongdae smirking at this before exiting the kitchen. “Tell me if ‘dinner’ is ready.” Jongdae added as he made his way back, turning to give you another look to add some bunny ear motions on the word dinner.
It’s at this moment you knew the Jongdae you met from day one was still here, and doesn’t have any plans on leaving.

“Where did the instructions go?” Jongdae heaved and whilst you also struggled to help him hold up the back of the cabinet, you managed to let out a breathy snort.
“Oh, those ones you claimed you wouldn’t need to make this?”
“Not funny,” he panted, gesturing to put it down and then leaned over it to catch his breath. “This isn’t working.”
“Should we leave it for another day?” you offered and with a defeated smile, your best friend nodded.
“We’ve got plenty of time to make it.”
And that was how it went for over six months. You didn’t know how you and Jongdae managed to make the process of the cabinet building so difficult. The instructions were found, only for the bag of screws to be misplaced. A few weeks later they appeared in the bathroom cupboard and there was a half-hearted attempt to get the piece finished. Only then, you had unexpected guests turn up at your shared apartment and it slipped off the back end of the priority list as work picked up for you both.
There were always a million reasons why you hadn’t gotten it done.
And now, there wasn’t much time left.
“I’ll finish that cabinet before I move out,” Jongdae announced and you smiled wistfully, rather wishing to leave it untouched in the spare room if it meant your best friend would stay on. All you had known was your life here with Jongdae. You had been neighbours as kids and best friends before you could even talk. Moving in together when you shifted out of home had made the best sense to you and you hadn’t realised just how accustomed you were to having him around every day.
It wasn’t as if he was moving cities and you’d never see him again. But you could already feel the emptiness of your home whenever you found items missing from their usual spots. It was going to be a new chapter for the pair of you.
And whilst you were incredibly happy for Jongdae moving on to the next chapter in his life, you couldn’t help the bitter feeling that came with being left behind.
You were finally going to be on different levels in life and that scared you.
“Y/N, have you seen the legs for the cabinet? They’re missing!”
You cleared your throat and called back in response. “Nope, haven’t seen them.”
“God, when will we ever finish this thing?!” he replied and you sighed heavily as you looked towards the wardrobe you had hidden them within.
Still, Jongdae was determined to get it done.
“Isn’t it heavy?”
He grunted. “Hold the other end.”
You did as he requested, though your heart wasn’t in it. “Have you – got – OW!”
“Are you okay?!” Jumping to his aide as he hopped around on one foot, you cringed at causing an injury. “I’m sorry!”
“It’s like this cabinet doesn’t even want to be finished!”
Chuckling softly, you turned to look away from him, blinking back your emotions quickly. You knew when the project was completed, he would leave.
“I found the legs!” Jongdae chimed the next day, holding the packet up victoriously. “How they ended up in the laundry room all this time, I don’t know.”
“Is that where they were?” you bluffed, sipping on your tea all too quickly. “Funny that.”
“Not long now!” he told you as he strode by you and your stomach dropped with each further step away.
You woke with a start, taking in your surroundings before you felt your heart ease. When you were certain you could breathe comfortably, you slipped out of bed, padding into the living room and over to the kitchen to retrieve some water. It was then when you saw the light on in the spare room.
Confused, you headed in to find Jongdae bending over the cabinet. “What are you doing?”
He jumped at your voice and then smiled grimly before turning back to the cabinet. He hadn’t made much progress on his own and you sighed. “Want a hand?”
“You don’t want it made, do you?” he mentioned softly as you crouched across from him, your gaze moving up to his. Jongdae smiled knowingly. “You never change, Y/N.”
“And you really want it finished.”
He nodded. “It’s stupid really. But I feel like I can’t leave you behind with anything unfinished. Even though I can drop by whenever, I feel this need to have everything in order for you since I won’t…”
“I hid the legs and kept moving them around the house,” you confessed and Jongdae let out a small laugh. You joined him, shaking your head, your tears splattering onto your pyjamas. “I guess it was the same for me. If you didn’t finish it, I had an immature thought that it meant you couldn’t leave.”
“We’re being foolish for a pair of adults, huh?”
You nodded. “It’s just a cabinet for goodness sake.”
“No, it’s something we started together,” he countered, sharing a sombre look with you. “It’s our project.”
“Well then, what are we waiting for?” you asked, wiping your hands on your pants and reached for the instruction manual. You then grinned over at Jongdae. “We’ll finish it the same way we started – together.”
The cabinet ended up in its final resting spot in the entryway to your home. You smiled at it when you opened the front door and Jongdae stepped inside, his hand immediately smoothing over the top of the furniture.
You laughed. “Do you come to visit me or that cabinet?”
“The cabinet, of course! I can’t see that when I come to meet you at the office.”
Rolling your eyes, you turned to look at the simple decoration you had on top of the piece of furniture. Your favourite photo of you and Jongdae sat in the middle of the other photos, the pair of you building blocks together as children. It seemed fitting to place it on top of the cabinet and you could tell Jongdae appreciated it too.
With him no longer here, you found yourself using that cabinet for everything. From leaning on it when you put on and took off your shoes each day and night, to storing all your key essentials and your extra goods in case of an emergency, it felt as if you still had a bit of Jongdae looking out for you with the cabinet.
You were just as fond of it as Jongdae was.
“So, you asked me over for what?” he wondered and you grinned, leading him into the spare room where you had opened up a new box, the supplies carefully set out to begin working on.
“Want to help me make this crib up?”
Jongdae grinned. “What about your husband?”
“I figured since we’re old pros at this, we ought to try and make something else together.”
Remember when the boys called Chen out on Knowing Bros because he wasn't spending enough time with them? And all the MC's were like "WHAT'S MORE IMPORTANT BESIDES YOUR GROUP MEMBERS!?" and Chen had to basically defend himself to everyone and got whiny and petty?
Chen's girlfriend was probably watching all that going down looking like:

“I can’t believe we’re finally here, I never thought we’d make it.”
“Oh, for fuck’s sake,” Jongdae groans as he feels your grip on his waist tighten so you can steadily slip off his motorcycle. “My driving’s not that bad.”
Jongdae kicks his foot down, his bike’s kickstand clicking into place so he can stand up without it crashing to the ground (he’d honestly cry if it ever did). He hears you laugh as he pulls off his helmet, shaking his head and running his fingers through his hair to smoothen out any tufts that stick up. Then he’s feeling someone else run their fingers through his hair and Jongdae sighs contently.
“You’re right, it’s not,” he hears you say from behind him. He steps away from his bike and turns to face you, your hands still in his hair as he wraps both his arms around your waist. “Being on a bike that’s moving a hundred miles per hour down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere is just terrifying.”
“Aw, princess,” Jongdae coos, leaning down to nuzzle his nose into yours, a sweet smile spread across his lips. “You know I wouldn’t let anything happen to you.”
“I know,” you whisper. “I trust you with my life, Jongdae. That’s why I’m only ever able to go on your bike and not Baekhyun’s because I know he’d pull some stupid shit to scare the hell out of me.”
Jongdae can’t help but snort at that―of course, leave it to Baekhyun to be the little shit he’s been since day one. “Remind me to kill him when we get back to my place,” Jongdae says before capturing your lips in his. It quickly becomes heated, your hands threading through his hair endlessly and his arms tightening around you, bringing you closer than ever as his tongue pushes past yours in a war of dominance.
But then you pull away too quickly for Jongdae’s liking, evident by the whine that escapes his lips when you slip out of his grasp as if you were never really there in the first place.
“Where are we, anyway?” you ask, seemingly oblivious to his whines. He watches you as you twirl with no care in the world, the skirt that reaches your knees swaying in response to your movements. He feels himself falling in love with you all over again―the way you looked like an utter angel beneath the setting sunlight, the light hitting you at just the right angles. The skirt makes you look like a princess of divinity―his, princess. “Jongdae?” you call out to him when he doesn’t respond, pulling him out of his thoughts.
“My special place,” Jongdae says, still staring at you. You’re in the middle of nowhere, fields of grass stretching as far as the eye could see and with only one dirt road in your sights―the one you took to get here.
“Really?” You tilt your head in the cutest way that makes Jongdae’s heart stutter―god, you were gorgeous. “But there’s nothing here, Jongdae.”
Jongdae laughs, finally making his way over to you to join you in the field of grass, the field of nothing. “That’s what makes it so special,” he whispers, wrapping an arm around your waist as he settles behind you, resting his chin on your head. “I come here all the time to gather my thoughts. It really helps, you know, since there’s nothing here. It makes it easy for me to focus. It also helps me remember my place in the world―that I’m just a tiny little human in a huge, huge universe that’s far too big for my tiny brain to properly comprehend.”
“You’re going to make me have an existential crisis if you keep talking like that.” You reach up and smack his cheek lightly and Jongdae laughs again, his heart literally bursting with all his love for you, his one and only.
“I love you,” Jongdae murmurs out of the blue. You hum, placing your hands on his arm that’s wrapped around your torso.
[6:24] Your hands intertwined, you looked up at Jongdae as he continued to serenade you, nothing but the sound of his angelic voice filling the room. A warmth filled your chest, a sensation so strong that you could barely contain it. That was the moment you realized that what you were feeling was love.
