I feel really bad for 343 right now. Say what you will about Halo Infinite but nobody deserves to lose their livelihood over it, especially not at the hands of a corporation that doesn’t give a shit about any of them.
People are talking a lot about Joseph Staten but he’s not the focus; he just shifted to Xbox publishing. Lots of good, hard-working people have just lost their jobs via indiscriminate corporate judgement.

While it’s nice to see Staten back for Halo Infinite, this tells me that the game is being delayed to Holiday 2021 rather than Q1 2021. You don’t bring on a lead designer this late in development unless things are going really wrong.
The weaponry in Halo 3 provides a constant calculation for the player between risk and reward- this is especially evident in how the game pushes the player to decide on using a single weapon, dual-wielding, or using a two-handed weapon. Single weapons are typically the weakest of the three types, but like weapons that can be dual-wielded, ammo is often plentiful, especially when using weapons dropped by enemies. Dual-wielding weapons can lead to expanded damage output, but requires more upkeep and more frequent reloading in order to access that amount of damage. Finally, two-handed weapons often have limited ammo, and are fairly rare, but are so strong that they often require the enemy to change how they approach them if they hope for success. This trifecta is effective primarily because of how easy it is to digest. It all leads back to how the player character themselves have to wield it, and thus creates a shared language between each of these options in terms of how they are used, and what their strengths and weaknesses are.
Halo Infinite was originally planned to launch with the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S but was delayed for fine tuning, its now set to launch in Fall 2021, developer 343 Industries has confirmed. Joseph Staten at 343 Industries took to the Halo Waypoint blog with the new release date of “Fall...

For fans of the Halo series, you might want to keep an eye on the new Xbox One 2016 lineup. Joseph Staten, who was known for writing part of the Halo series, has joined the ReCore team.
Joseph Staten left Bungie only 2 years ago, after spending 15 years at the company. He will be joining Keiji Inafune, the creator of Mega Man to work on the project.
