I have a mighty need to know about the softball dads AU.

This fic was inspired by the many years my kid spent playing rec league softball, and it SHOWS in the writing.

Basically Bucky is coaching his niece’s softball team and meets Dad!Clint, who’s got a spitfire pitcher of a daughter who couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn at the plate. Shenanigans ensue.

I think it’s about half done? And then the kid stopped playing softball so the inspiration kind of trickled off but I hope to get back to it someday! It’s got quite a lot of words!

For the WIP game, please tell me more about Moonhawk. I have become strangely invested in this ship, considering I know very little about your moon dude.

Don’t encourage me, I’ll talk about moonhawk ‘til the cows come home. I have three pieces of fanart of them and they’re my most treasured possessions. Love my lil moon dude.

This particular moonhawks is my favourite genre of moonhawks: Ronin Clint styled post-Hawkeye Freefall who’s a little lost and self-destructive vs a Moon Knight who’s not entirely sure what to do with someone more self-destructive than himself.

Clint’s trying his damndest not to be left alone with Moon Knight because they keep having inevitably messy rough sex right after the high of beating up bad guys because neither of them have an ounce of self-control. They do not take off their masks. I am pleased by my own self-indulgence.

How about winterhawk 5 & 17?

Clint hits the mattress with a muffled thump, sweat sticking his hair to his face - it’s also sticking Bucky’s hair to his face and he swipes at it halfheartedly. His fingers end up on Bucky’s cheek instead, softer than he means for it to be.

Usually, he’s got his nails digging into bare skin, trying to cause as much damage - as much evidence - as he can. It inevitably fades after an hour or two, but there’s a kind of vicious satisfaction in leaving the marks there in the first place. It’s not like Bucky can judge him, he does exactly the same thing, except Clint comes out of it making excuses to the team about Ivan and his thugs showing up.

This isn’t- it isn’t meant to be like this.

Clint’s not supposed to be dragging his fingertips across Bucky’s jaw just to feel it, he’s not supposed to be laying soft and pliant on the bed as Bucky pushes him into the sheets.

This isn’t that kind of relationship, he says to himself firmly.

He keeps repeating it to himself like a mantra, fills up the tension with the routine biting comments and insults. It’s become enough of a routine that Clint almost works on autopilot, half-heartedly pulling hair and remembering to bite instead of just pressing his mouth to Bucky’s skin.

This isn’t that kind of relationship, he thinks again as he looks around for his pants, ignores the sinking feeling in his stomach. Some part of him is tempted to roll back under the sheets, bury his face in Bucky’s chest and stay there. He doesn’t even like Bucky, the fuck is he doing? Maybe the sex broke his brain.

He’s expecting the usual fuck off already, Barton, you’re not getting a round two that Bucky normally flings at him, if he’s feeling nice.

They’re not even friends.

Instead, he gets a hesitant, “you could- I mean. You could stay.”

It’s far too easy to give in to the request, too easy to curl up next to Bucky and wonder what the fuck they’re doing here.

“I still hate you,” Bucky mutters, but when his fingers curl around Clint’s hip they’re unexpectedly gentle.

“You’re not exactly the man of my dreams either, Barnes,” Clint says, and it’s only now he’s realising how much of a lie that is.

Oh my god I don’t know anytime anyone says anything nice I CRY, but I guess anything that compliments my style or the nuances or particulars of my writing is a personal fave.
