sequel to “For Once”
length: 1, 244 words
a/n: y’all FINALLY!!! I received SO many requests for this sequel. Like probably the most I’ve gotten for any sequel lol. I have rewritten this like 15 times, but I finally got some good inspiration and rewrote it to be the way it is now and I’m happy with it. So hopefully y’all are too :)
You couldn’t believe that for a second you thought Junhoe would actually come to you. When you sent him the response, come and see me for once?, he didn’t even bother responding. Later saying he was stuck at the studio and was gonna ask you to come so he could get a break in.
Despite how much you hoped that things could be different with Junhoe, it didn’t seem like you would get a chance at something more.
Junhoe hadn’t heard from you in weeks. He sent multiple texts, hell he even tried calling. But he got nothing in response. Sure he knew you two weren’t exactly on good terms. You did tell him things between you two were done. But he thought that asking to talk made things a little better. Though that talk never happened since he wouldn’t come to you. He was busy, as always, but he was busy nonetheless.
He’d thought about what you said. A lot. How you wanted things to be different. And he wondered if, maybe he did too. In the beginning he convinced himself that things with you could be no more. He couldn’t catch feelings or fall for you. Which he was sure he hadn’t. But after hearing that you had, and with how much you’ve been ignoring him. He realized that maybe there was something more.
But he wasn’t ready for a relationship, though he’d love one with you. You being the only girl he’d ever really gotten to know. Sure it was only in his bedroom, or wherever you two would meet. He felt comfortable with you, he wasn’t some famous idol to you. Though that was also the reason he wasn’t ready for a relationship. Because he was a famous idol. His schedule constantly taking him here and there. Having him work practically all day. He’d never have time to see you if something were to develop between the two of you.
It just, it wouldn’t be fair to you. He wasn’t so much worried about himself. He was worried about you. And maybe that’s why he didn’t want to catch feelings in the first place. Why he was so cold and never reciprocated. Never came when you asked, always having it his way. Because he hoped that you wouldn’t fall for him and vice versa. He knew that if that happened it would only end up with you getting hurt.
But it seems as if that happened anyways.
“Yah! Junhoe!”
Junhoe was quickly snapped from his thoughts as Jiwon threw a crumpled up paper at him. “Huh? What is it?”
“Um, I said. Do you have any ideas for the song?”
Junhoe just sighed, shaking his head as he leaned back in his chair. “Let me guess, thinking about y/n? What did she text you this time?”
“Nothing, the same as last time. And the time before that. I messed up big time.”
Jiwon just laughed, clicking away at the computer as he tried to finish the song he’d been working on. “Well, you know I thought you having a friends with benefits relationship was a bad idea. And you definitely didn’t help by being so freaking one sided with it. I mean, I get we are pretty busy. But there definitely were times you could have gone to her. You just chose not to. I know why you didn’t, you know why you didn’t. But, does she know why?”
Junhoe tried to act as if he didn’t know what Jiwon was talking about, but Jiwon saw right through it. “Oh please, you think I don’t know what’s up? You don’t think you can handle a relationship right now. So, you were an ass to her hoping that she wouldn’t catch feelings. But she did, and so did you. Now you don’t know what to do about it.”
“I know what I want to do. I just, I think it’s too late for that.”
Jiwon sighed, spinning his chair to face Junhoe. Taking his attention away from the computer for the first time all night. “Look. If she really does like you, even though you treated her pretty shitty. Then maybe she’ll give you another chance. But you have to explain yourself, and be honest. She might not like it, but at least you will be telling her the truth.”
Junhoe nodded, but sighed once again as he looked at his phone to see that you still hadn’t read his message.
“That is, if I can ever get her to talk to me again.”
Jiwon now facing his computer once again just shook his head, cursing Junhoe for how oblivious he could be at times. “Don’t wait for her to talk to you. You talk to her.”
Taking in his words Junhoe checked the time then quickly got up grabbing his jacket. “Yah! We need to finish this song! The deadline is tomorrow and we are so far behind!”
“I’ll be back. But this is important.”
Practically running down the sidewalk, bumping into a few people along the way. Junhoe kept thinking back to what Jiwon said. You talk to her. He was right. This whole time he’d been waiting for you to talk to him. But he was the one who needed to talk, to explain his actions. All he needed was for you to listen. And right now that was all he could hope for as he continued on.
Approaching the building that was almost foreign to him, he stared at it for a moment. Taking a moment to try to gather his thoughts and make sure he did things right. Heading inside he tried to remember if it was floor 4 or 5. Slightly cursing himself for not knowing, he guessed as he headed up the stairs. Wanting more time to think.
Reaching floor 4 he luckily remembered which door he needed, taking a deep breath as he approached it. Preparing himself for the worst, but hoping for the best.
You hated to admit it, but here you were. Still losing sleep over Junhoe. Though you’d ended things, or so you thought. He still kept texting, and calling. Wanting to talk but never wanting to come to you to do it. And you were done giving into him.
But here you were, staring at his texts that were on your screen.
[Junhoe]: please, can we talk
[Junhoe]: I know I keep saying I’m too busy to meet you. But it’s the truth.
[Junhoe]: I promise I have a good explanation for everything
You’d attempted to type a reply a few times, but nothing felt right. What was there to say? Nothing you said ever made a difference. Nothing you said ever made him come to you, to just for once reciprocate something. Tossing your phone to the side you got up. Figuring if you couldn’t sleep you’d distract yourself with snacks or something other than Junhoe.
But as you got to the fridge, a soft knock came at your door. Looking to the clock noticing how late it was you were confused. You weren’t expecting anyone. And as you checked the peep hole you were shocked. Unlocking the door and opening it to see him standing there. A sight you had only dreamed of. Junhoe let out a sigh of relief as he saw you standing in front of him, not slamming the door in his face like he was sure he deserved.
“I’m here. And, I’m ready to talk.”
