heyyy people
idk if you've noticed, but i've been offline on saturdays for the past couple weeks
i know that just having an online friend disappear for a day without an explanation can be a little concerning, so i just wanted to explain
1. i'm trying to keep shabbat (the jewish sabbath) more, which, for me, includes not using electronics
2. dude, i need some breaks and just having one day a week where i'm not online is very good for me
sooo yeah
just for the future, i won't be online from sundown on fridays (around 7:00pm est right now) until an hour after sundown on saturdays (around 8:00pm est right now)
Why is this night different from all other nights ?
Temarukiyah - Fourth Night of Hanukkah! Where is the time going? LOL!
happy 250th barmitzvah anniversary USA
unlike a birthday, i think this date better symbolizes the time the USA took on the responsibility of laws they didnt understand under the guise of becoming a man.
I've got a religion question
If angels were made without any free will how were any of them able to choose to disobey/turn away from god and fall?
I'm sure there's already some kind of explanation from various religious authorities but, i have no idea how to find it without scouring through huge amounts of info for what's mostly a passing curiosity lol.
Some Jewish thoughts:
1. The think that I am is Reformodox. I look pretty secular, I can fit in with the secular world; I wear pants through the week, I refuse to Niddah, Shabbat is for abstaining from *work* but not enjoyment. The “-odox” part of me has a deep desire to still do the insular things of the Jewish community. I want to wear a tichel when I’m married, I want my husband and sons to wear kippot, I dress Tzniut on Shabbat, I want to talk parsha and Dvar Torah over Shabbat dinner.
2. I fell off the derech. I still like Judaism. I identify as religiously Jewish if you ask me. Just Max and the derech were so tied together, I needed separation. I need time right now. But after my lease is up I’m gonna move to Ottawa and get back on the derech somewhere completely separate of Max.
