BABY BAT BRUCE! BABY BAT BRUCE!
Bruce Wayne - Not Super (2023)
Top 5 Works 2020 - Fanfic Edition
rules: it’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 (ish) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
tagged by: I got tagged three different times for this challenge, so I’m doing a fanfic version, a moodboard version, and a crafts version. For this one, we’ll say that the spectacular @deathsweetqueen tagged me!
For the fanfics, in no particular order...
1. Save Another Life (It Will Be Worth It) - This was actually a remix of "How to Save a Life (It Just Might Be Yours" in which the Winter Soldier found baby Tony Stark in the car when he was sent to kill Howard Stark. And then took him, and raised him, with all the Dad!Bucky and Kid!Tony shenanigans.
In that version, Tony met Bruce when they were kindergarteners, but then had to move away. I had several readers say they wanted Bucky to kidnap Bruce and take him with them. So this fic happened. And it’s a feels-fest, y’all. A lot of angst smattered with moments of tooth-rotting fluff, and a very, very happy ending. Have a summary:
James and his (somewhat stolen) son Tony have been living happy lives under the radar for the past five years. They move a lot, and leave a lot of friends behind, but then Tony meets a little boy named Bruce. In another world, James and Tony might move on, though it breaks their hearts to have to say goodbye to the scared, hurting little boy that is Tony's best friend.
In this world, however... they don't say goodbye.
2. Pepper Has A Thing For Idiots - One of my readers pointed out that silly Pepperony fics are few and far between. And that’s exactly what this fic is! Tony being an idiot (as a genius, he deserves a lot more idiot moments than the average person) and Pepper being moronsexual for him.
Pepper has always known she's attracted to idiots, but it wasn't until she met this one in particular that she realized just how moronsexual she is.
3. The Name You Gave Me - This fic is a collab with the amazing @fightingforcreativity! It’s another kid fic heavy on the feels, and we had so much fun brainstorming it! And then we had to slog through the process of filling in all the gaps, but working with J as absolutely great! The Winter Soldier and a tiny Natasha Romanoff escape the Red Room and are taken back to the States by Howard Stark, where they meet and bond with a tiny Tony.
If you asked the Asset, he'd say it started with being given a name, something of his own. For the first time he had something for himself, and he became greedy. So she became his as well.
If you asked the little Widow, she'd say, “It started with a brother. He was my brother and I wanted another.”
If you asked Howard Stark, he'd say, “It started with the Serum, and it ended with a Serum.”
But if you asked the youngest of them all, he'd answer, “It started like everything, an action was the catalyst for a chain reaction. I was just lucky to have a brother and a sister, a real father and another mother, through it all.”
The moral of the story is that a true family always finds each other.
4. The Most Spoiled Fish In Existence - More silliness for you, definitely inspired by my own fish and encouraged by the TSB discord peeps! It’s just cracky nonsense, some of which was inspired by real life fish shenanigans.
Tony finds a fish in his lab. Why would someone give him a fish? This remains a mystery, until he realizes that a particular Honeybear of his has simultaneously gone missing...
5. Through A Child's Eyes, It's Different - This is, to date, the LONGEST fic I’ve ever written! And while plot is still thin on the ground (I’m not awesome at plot, I’m a one-shot girl), I am still in love with all the many adorable kid!Tony moments. (Yes, another kid fic. This was the year of kid!Tony fics.) Tony got deaged, but kept all his memories, and everyone gets an unfiltered look at how he feels about them.
The Accords debacle is long over, and the ex-Avengers have come home. Things are not going well, particularly when Tony gets kidnapped by the villain-of-the-week and ends up in the middle of a freak lab accident.
Seeing things through the eyes of a child sounds kind of poetic, and in some cases, it is. But for the rogue Avengers, it's a shocking and harsh look at their past deeds, as well as a closer look at who Tony Stark really is when he doesn't have all his self-made masks up to protect him.
With Pepper, Rhodey, and Happy there to keep him safe and love him, Tony navigates the weirdness his life has become, while Dr. Strange, Thor, and Dr. Foster work to figure out what happened to Tony and if the deaging can be reversed.
There are not even words for HOW HARD IT WAS TO CHOOSE between all the fics I posted this year. It was like picking a favorite child.
Anyway, I will tag (no pressure tagging)... @menatiera, @weethreequarter, @originalobjecttheorist, @mitochondrials, @lbibliophile-mcu
@the-quiet-carrotcake
Thank you! Sorry for the wait. I haven’t drawn Duke before so I picked him and he’s got a de-aged Bruce under his arms and just so confused and panicked, this is batman as a kid! Oh man, what the heck is he supposed to do now? And kid!Bruce is just like not impressed at all. Poor Duke...
Just found one of my old doodles when I was supposed to be writing a poem but ended up testing out ways to draw kid Bruce and Clark
DRAFT: Family ties.
HEADCANON: Dick is older than Bruce and is chosen as his guardian when his parents die.
The first time Bruce had met the man was at his parents funeral. They were cousins of some kind, the details of their relation had gone in one ear and out the other. He gave the same words of condolances as all the others, how it must have been so hard for Bruce to see his parents die like that, how he wished for the young mans future to be brighter one day - Like he wasnt going to make a grab for the family company like all the rest. Thnak God for ALfred who placated the man before he left. the last he saw of the man he was getting into a car with a two red-headed men, chatting amicably and driving off in an old mustang.
The second time Bruce met the man was at the offical reading of his parents will. The man’s name was Richard John Grayson. He had inhetered the mansion and all the shares that his family had in Wayne Enterprises on the proviso that he take custody of Bruce. The rest of the family had kicked up a fuss but the man, Mr. Grayson merely stood at the outskirts looking intently at Bruce. “I’ll do it.” a few days later Mr. Grayson moved into the manor in the room that had once been his parents. Bruce wasnt sure how to feel about that.
Mr. Grayson was a very different man in comparision to his father. Mr Grayson was always at home. His father had worked every day at WE offices. Mr. Grayson had many friends who were always coming over. His father had been a quite man with only a handful of friends. Many of whom Bruce only saw at galas and the like. Mr. Grayson sang in the shower, had sweet pancakes for breakfast, made his own food, walked on his hands for fun and was unusally emoured by the fireplace in his father’s office. Yes, the man was very different from his father.
The office door was open and the warm light coming from it suggested that room was currently occupied. This was not unusual, Mr. Grayson was often in his fathers office at odd hours of the night, much like the fireplace fetish, Bruce chose to ignore the wierd mannerisms of the older man. What was unsual was that he could hear Alfred in the room with him. Bruce crept closer to the door, curiosity overriding common sense.
“I really do wish you would stop this with this nonsense Master Dick. Master Bruce does not need the trauma of another parental figure diying.”
“I hardly think Bruce sees me as parental figure Alf.”
HI, Congrats on 1000!!! Can I please request a drabble of the HC where Bruce got bullied as a child for looking feminine and Clark stands up for him even though he's smaller than the bullies. By the way, how on earth do you keep track of your HCs? There are so many.
7 Drabbles left~
You know, it’s super hard keeping track of EVERYTHING! BUT I have my trust friend, Tags and Archive. Also, sometimes I can just remember certain HCs I’ve made or responded to.
twistedmidnightdreams replied to your post:Kid: what's the thing you like doing most with your parents?
… Not from around Gotham. Not very up-to-date on that sort of thing, I apologize.
"It's okay. You didn't know." It's not really a comfortable subject, for obvious reasons, but at least he can talk a bit about it now.
Also, kid, that doesn't tell me what you /want/ to be, y'know!
"W-well, if I really didn't want to run the company, I could just sell it, once I'm old enough. But I'm not going to do that!"
He clears his throat, before continuing. "The company was important to my parents, and I don't want just anyone taking control of it. And I like working with machines, which is important 'cause we're a tech company. It's just I used to visit my Dad at work sometimes, and some of the stuff you have to do looks really boring. But I'll get to decide what the company does, and where it's going. So I can make sure we spend our time on important things."
That doesn't quite answer the question though, so he adds, "I want to be the CEO of Wayne Industries, but I," he hesitates again, "I've been doing a lot of reading lately, about crime and the justice system. And there's always stuff in the news about how the gangs have been fighting, and hurting people in the crossfire. I want to do something about that."
