Physical Appearance:
Kittycorn is a scraggly, lithe unicorn-horned cat who closely resembles Unikitty in many ways, but for her species, she is built to be on the smaller side. She is the third smallest in the royal bloodline, because at the time of her death, she was very close to reaching her full size. Her features are slightly softer than Unikitty’s, since she is a young teenaged cat, but she has the lynx-like face and tufted, furnished ears. Kittycorn’s long, thick fur is so scraggly that it appears to always be standing on end, giving her a spiky appearance that reflects her personality. Her fur is thickest around her neck and tail, and the realistic style depicts her with long whiskers.
Kittycorn also has the exact same pink tones throughout her fur as the rest of her ancestors and descendants. Her muzzle is light pink with reddish blush-like markings on her cheeks. On her chest is a light green, leaf-like splotch, and that makes way for her scraggly white belly, which she lays on so much that it mats very easily. She also has white legs, and on the underside of her feather-like blue tail is the same fading white streak. Her eyes are blue, and so are her forepaws, horn, and tail. Her hind paws are yellow. Her paws are huge and her fur also gets longer around her paws, with it being the longest around her wrists.
Personality:
Kittycorn can be best described as a bold, headstrong princess who likes to dive into any situation headfirst, sometimes even when told not to. She is a sociable cat who makes friends extremely easily, and she takes a lot of pride in setting a good example for them as the heiress. The determined, adventurous image she paints of herself is generally what most of Kittycorn’s relationships are built around, where she enjoys being a leader and guiding paw. She always tries to help those around her unlock their full potential, especially Caticorn. She is also very protective of her friends, Caticorn included, always willing to take the hit for them. Kittycorn needs to burn as much energy as possible for her calmer side to show, and for the most part she is very expressive. Her idea of fun mostly consists of high-energy scenarios such as kingdom-wide parties, and taking risks just to feel the adrenaline spike. Kittycorn’s biggest strength, however, is her stubbornness, which is how her family’s hope shines through her. She doesn’t let failure define her; she is determined to try and try again until she gets something right, and to fix any sort of mistake she makes.
If there is any activity that results in an adrenaline spike, open-minded Kittycorn is willing to try her paw at it. She climbs onto things purely for the thrill of it, but also because she loves to observe whatever is going on. Kittycorn is also almost never home, as she prefers to go out on adventures with her friends. Her favorite places to explore to satisfy her need for adventure are abandoned buildings, especially seeing what treasures may have been left behind. Kittycorn also took up rollerskating from a young age, and enjoys the sense of freedom she gets from the thrills. Some of her favorite places to bring her friends to hang out are the kingdom’s roller rinks, all while reminding them they don’t have to be perfect at it; it’s just for fun. Kittycorn also expanded over to scooter riding and skateboarding, and sometimes will head over to the skate park to practice some of her tricks. When she isn’t seeking thrills, Kittycorn is usually busy practicing what she will have to do as queen, such as assisting Unifeline on his duties, and pretending to give speeches. Kittycorn is generally very persuasive due to knowing that as queen, persuasion is a good skill to have. When her energy is burned, Kittycorn spends her free time listening to music, usually more energetic electronic songs.
Due to still being young, even though Caticorn always thought Kittycorn had things figured out, for the most part, she does not. Kittycorn’s love for being a role model often interferes with her judgement, and she can therefore be very reckless and unknowingly pressure her friends into doing something dangerous. An example of this would be when Caticorn was learning how to fly and Kittycorn decided that the perfect place for her sister to practice would be on top of a gigantic half-pipe. She doesn’t always know where the line between encouraging someone and pressuring them is. Kittycorn usually forgets to think before she acts, and often does not realize the impact her actions may have until after the damage has been done. In addition, Kittycorn is highly neurotic, similarly to Unikitty, and can easily switch from a happy energetic princess to a vicious ball of rage. Being a young teenager, this has increased drastically, and it can sometimes happen as the result of seemingly small things piling up. Kittycorn also can be quite impatient, and she usually is not able to keep it to herself.
Abilities:
Being a unicorn cat like her ancestors, Kittycorn has the ability to fly to get around, and change her fur color based on emotion. As the most notable example, when angry, she will turn red, fiery, and prickly. She is very prone to accidentally burning things with her angry form, and flooding things with her sad form. Kittycorn’s cheek markings also alter their shape based on emotion. On account of her cat side, Kittycorn is very athletic and flexible, as her powerful legs allow for great speed and long leaps. Her upper body strength allows her to pull herself onto nearly anything, which has helped her climb vertical surfaces. Kittycorn also is great at balancing on nearly anything, and squeezing into small spaces.
Kittycorn is skilled at dancing, mostly because she nearly always dances along to the music she listens to. In addition, Kittycorn is good at finding things, and her memory allows her to retrace the last place she saw an object effortlessly. Being as athletic and plucky as she is, Kittycorn is also highly skilled at rollerskating and similar activities, and has taught herself a lot of difficult tricks because she enjoys a challenge.
Trivia
Unikitty is named after both her and Unicat.
Her design in the Lego style is meant to be nearly identical to Unikitty.
Kittycorn always carries a walkman with her, and it is one of her most prized possessions. After she died, Caticorn held onto Kittycorn’s walkman.
Kittycorn was originally supposed to only live 6 years, but StayCute delayed her death several years to allow her more time to establish a personality and bond with Caticorn. She then was supposed to live until she was 13 and Caticorn was 11, but then it was delayed until Caticorn was 12 and Kittycorn was 14 due to timeline confusion.
Everyone’s already said their piece but I guess I should input some of mine as well:
I do understand where kc is coming from in terms of being traumatized and coping through art. I understand how trauma from sexual assault can affect you. Whether or not drawing this art is healthy is a gray and nuanced area that I simply don’t have the time to analyze and explain, and don’t feel as if I have a place to. It really just depends.
But a lot of people, myself included, are very uncomfortable with the topic of incest, especially in regard to romanticization. Incest is not taboo, and is much more normalized in our society than we think it is. It is also inherently abusive, because it relies on family dynamics which have a very clear cut power dynamic. Victims of incest often don’t speak out about their abuse because it is so often sexualized.
Sparklecare is a comic about trauma and healing. It built an audience off of people who have suffered trauma and felt seen in the comic. Among the audience of those with trauma, there will be victims of incest, and they may get attached to these characters.
So naturally, finding out that a story you were invested in romanticizes incest behind the scenes is going to make people very upset, especially victims. There were dogwhistles hidden in Cometcare hinting at these characters showing incestous feelings. Not once is any of this portrayed as an extension of abuse; it’s all sexualized.
Kc did not keep this private. If kit did we would not hear about it. This was shared to many, including actual predators and abusers kc befriended despite knowing their actions. All of this was shown, from the insect metaphor, to the art that kit made.
The problem is that a comic filled with hidden fetishes ultimately resulted in many, including victims and/or minors nonconsenually participating in these fetishes. People grew attached to characters that turned out to have incestuous feelings, and in the case of Norma, a character that drugged the family members they were attracted to. So many people drew art of the Cometcare family, not knowing what they were participating in.
This is why the incest in Sparklecare is unethical. If you are going to create this content, you need to be open about it so that the people uncomfortable with you can choose not to interact with you. If a comic like Sparklecare already grew so big in the first place, kc could’ve created separate ocs in order to make this content.
I don’t see this as a “proship vs antiship” issue. I think even proshippers should understand that this behavior is uncalled for.
here is a few anticare pfp edits!!
I usually don't post my own thoughts. I am a fairly private person. But I'm hoping this can reach Kneeby since they have disabled all communications on Tumblr.
First of all. I think this whole controversy over sparklecare and cometcare is nothing but hot air.
Someone dug up Kneeby's private canons and whirled up a bunch of malicious intent where there was absolutely none.
These are fictional characters. Nothing more than imaginary thoughts. They are not real people being harmed. Hell I was always surprised by the sheer amount of content warnings on the comic. That is a lot of care for not triggering people.
I am sad because this could likely be the end of sparklecare. I always looked forward to seeing uni again. I have a sweet spot for sly. Poor gal struggling with taking a shower. Something about the vulnerability of these characters struggling with stuff the public may treat very harshly in a safe environment.
That's why fiction exists. It's a safe environment. As long as we acknowledge the difference between fiction and reality there is no harm done.
But now a mob has formed. They found something (once again a fictional ship) that they didn't like and decided to absolutely tear down Kneeby, someone struggling with mental illness trying to cope with severe trauma and brought so much joy to so many people with their characters.
They didn't have to do this. They didn't have to share sparklecare with anybody. But we all found connection there.
Now thanks to this mob mentality there will be no more sparklecare or cometcare. The life and soul of someone has been terrorized into believing that they are as bad as their abusers. All over, I remind you, fictional ships. Fictional ships that were private. Because they knew this could be triggering to other people. But they had great healing power to her.
I work a blue collar job. I spend time with people who would say the most fucked up things. But I don't judge them on what they say. I see their actions as actions of integrity. They may be rough on the surface, but they enact behaviors or care and responsibility towards others.
And I think this terminally online culture is mixing up fiction with reality and causing a lot of harm.
This callout post that has gone around has done absolutely no good for anyone. Kneeby is hurting and drowning in unwarranted hate. Fans of the comics and characters are hurting because they also believe they have been deceived and because they believe they have supported something bad. And now we all have lost a wonderful thing over a bunch of private canons and ships. Once more, fictional ships. Fiction. Not real.
I'm pretty upset about the whole thing. At this rate the only we'll have in the future is the most absolutely bland media because everyone will get scared their lives will be ruined over some perceived harm.
If incest is a contentious topic then we should bring it to the light and explore how it affects relationships in the real world and why do some people attach to the fictional performance of it and what are the effects of it. Discussions that need to be approached with compassion and curiosity instead of judgement.
Nobody is perfect. I rather have strange imperfect people that bring joy and are committed to improving behavior that causes real harm to real victims than perfect performing people who are so scared to be real that everything they create is bland soggy slop devoid of nuance.
We can't grow as people when we live in fear.
I hope we get to see more sparklecare and civil discussions about fictional ships.
This type of behavior is more about seeking safety in hiding with the angry crowd than exposing dangerous predators or evil people. If the latter were the case then we would be treating the writers of murder mysteries the same as potential serial killers.
This is silly and it needs to stop because all it is doing is hurting everyone involved.
If Kneeby reads this. You are well within your right to keep your ocs and aus private. But I personally would be extremely sad to see them go.
I am more interested in hearing how incest has affected your life and why the fictional version of it can be comforting despite the pain the real event caused than having the topic completely silenced. We are complicated creatures. The more we learn about each other, the better we can act to get along and not hurt each other.
Anyways that is my ramble.
I hate seeing people suffer unnecessarily.
