i remember when the neverseen used to scare me and now it’s just *pans to four guys in robes*

imagine if after rayani started spilling tea about trix and umber, sophie and the neverseen had a showdown and gisela brings out all these new people including trix and sophies like "who are you!" and gisela's like "this is trix" and sophies like "oh your the one who has a crush on umber" and the neverseen are like 'how do you know absolutley nothing about our plans, hideouts or members but you know that trix likes umber but you also don't even know what ability he has?" and then you can just hear ruy, vespera and gethen just laughing at Trix in the background.

Why Are The Neverseen Together?

I was randomly thinking about this after this post of mine about why Fintan is a good character.

Because from what we know, 90% of the Neverseen have incompatible beliefs with 2/3 leaders. Half the Neverseen wants the matchmaking sys abolished and the council ended, are very anti-eugenics, and are victims of at least systemic (if not domestic) abuse.

Gisela is a abusive evil human being, who abused both her son and husband and is fine with actively practicing making "the prefect version of the elvin race."

Vespera mainly just wants revenge on the Vackers, which aligns her with literally only Alvar. Then she also believes humans are scum, which aligns her with Fintan. The issue is she's also abused, tortured, and murdered people simply for her own enjoyment, then covered it up. This would put her at odds with almost every member of the Neverseen (for reasons talk about in this post), especially people like Umber, Trix, and Fintan- Who while we don't know what exactly was done to them, we still know that something fucked up happened to Umber and it's implied to be human experiments (a sadly dropped plot point), and Fintan, while he is an arsonist and criminal, generally doesn't seem to enjoy killing people for no reason. Or even doing so where he has to watch. (If we follow my line of logic Brant did Sophie's kidnapping due to Fintan being watched, and that Kenric's death was an accident)

So, why tf are the Neverseen still together? They literally don't agree on shit.

Coming back to why Fintan is the best: Its him. That's why the Neverseen feel so dumb recently. He's the reason they haven’t ripped eachother apart.

The people who know were recruited by Gisela are Glimmer (confirmed), and implied to also be Umber and Trix. BUT we also NEVER see Umber or Trix interact one time with Gisela, only Gisela calling Umber "her shade" and it being implied Trix joined with Umber.

Fintan recruited Gethen, who recruited Ruy and Alvar. I believe that Umber and Trix, no matter who recruited them, stayed because of Fintan's goals.

Why? Well compared to Gisela, Fintan not only has actually agreeable goals but also is charismatic and a decent leader. This group of people have wildly differing goals (and all kinda hate eachother) so they need someone who can actually lead to, you know, lead them

This theory also hinges on:

1. the fact that everyone but Ruy hated Alvar and Gisela (which is basically canon)

2. And that meant Keefe (who was recruited by Alvar) and Glimmer/Tam (recruited by Gisela) were kept semi-detached from the group, because they weren't trusted. Because they weren't Fintan's.

This could also be why Fintan allowed Keefe to have a bit more contact with him and the Neverseen, as he was testing the waters with Keefe first. Him being Gisela's son meant he immediately lacked any trust behind him, but him not being recruited by her meant he had a chance. Fintan just never believed he was actually willing to turn

I think this is also why the main group chooses to follow Vespera and not Gisela after Fintan's capture. Because Fintan broke Vespera out and Fintan was willing to co-lead with her (which she definitely didn't like lol). Fintan HATED Gisela and didn't trust her motives, so when Fintan is forced to give up his position, the Neverseen follows Vespera (to the point they literally leave Gisela for dead once reinforcements show up in Legacy). Why they never argue or try to overthrow Fintan when he gets Gisela chucked in an ogre prison. They don't argue with Fintan's means, motives, or choices, they just do it. They CONSTANTLY argue about Gisela and Vespera's.

Basically: The Neverseen as a dysfunctional found family can be 100% canon. Just only if Fintan's their collective father currently in jail, Glimmer and Alvar are estranged cousins/Ruy's BF no one likes, and Gisela and Vespera are the step-mother's that the kids they took in the divorce hate.

Oh dear... No pressure...

Fintan: very dramatic. I still love that scene in Neverseen where he revealed he was still alive because he had NO reason to 😭

Brant: I like Brant for many reasons, one being his connection to Jolie (my favorite character🥹) and his backstory. I still remember how insane his plot twist was during my first read of Everblaze. Also I think it's so fucking funny how he acted crazy for SIXTEEN years without breaking character I'm ctfu.

Vespera: She's very cool. Not only is she an ancient but she has crazy knowledge. She scarred up Biana which added some more development to Biana's character. I just don't think we saw her for very much page time, and since she's dead I guess we'll never know what she could've done.

Gethen: I'm very much one of the people who thinks he's Sophie's bio dad. The only evidence I have to backup this theory is Mr. Forkle being weirdly hesitant to get Sophie in a room with him in Lodestar.

Trix: genuinely so neutral like I don't even remember the scene where we meet her and don't care to reread it. I think it was in stellarlune.

Alvar: apparently this is an unpopular opinion but he is just a cheap pathetic twist villian. The reason why his plot twist doesn't work the way Brants does is because many of us weren't emotionally invested in the plot of the eldest vacker. Meanwhile in Everblaze we were momentarily stepping into Jolie's life and her time with the Black Swan. That's what made Brants twist hit so hard for many of us. Alvars reasoning was cheap and very much "I got no attention so now I'm evil" trope but done poorly. Unraveled pissed me off so bad, he doesn't deserve any bit of a redemption. HOWEVER I do like his parallels with Keefe and The Boy Who Disappeared, because I'm a sucker for parallels.

Umber: okay I was very much a fan of Umber and her powers, and I loved the effect she had on Sophie and Fitz, basically temporarily disabling them. Just for her to die in the same book we met her. Yeah no. C'mon Shannon at least play around with the echos you put in your main character a little more.

Glimmer/Rayni: not sure if I should add her since she technically isn't a member anymore but I have some things to say. She isn't very loyal and can switch up in an instant. However, if Tam trusts her, I'm willing to give her a chance. Tam is VERY good at knowing who to trust, he even kinda predicted Alvars evil reveal and Keefes joining the neverseen stunt. I also read the extra chapters in Tam's pov and she's very funny. Overall I like her.

Ruy: for some reason I thought he was dead but I'm pretty sure his abilities are just malfunctioning. He's pretty interesting, also just the fact that ANY psionpath can take down the force fields that incase Atlantis? Crazy security issue.

Lady Gisela: i won't go into her for very long because I'm also pretty neutral on her. I think her writing tries to make her seem nonchalant but in doing so it comes off as tacky. Overall never cared for her.

The Neverseen's Snowing Day

It was snowing outside, everywhere you looked all you saw was ice, and that was it, nothing else was outside. Not even the birds.

Fintan looked through the window and crossed his arms around his chest.

He sighed, there was no chance for him to use his ability now.

Just thinking about that made his fists clenched and he wanted to burn something.

Fintan's jaw tightened as he heard giggling behind him.

He turned around and saw Alvar staring at him with a smirk while placing his hands over his stomach, trying not to giggle.

"Is there a problem?" Fintan asked.

Alvar coughed, quite loudly.

"Nothing." He said.

Fintan rolled his eyes, he wanted to burn that Vacker's stupid "perfect" hair, and watch him crying over that.

He probably knew how hard it was for him not to be able to make any fire.

Fintan decided to ignore him and he stared with his sky blue eyes outside again, and sighed as he noticed ever the trees covered in snow looked upset over that.

His blonde hair rested over the shoulders of his cape as his eyes narrowed.

While looking outside he noticed Ruy and Trix outside, what seemed to be a...snowman?

Well, at least someone enjoyed that snow...even if it was two members he couldn't care less about.

But he couldn't help but smirk as he looked at those two.

"You're smiling, are you thinking about some evil plan?" Alvar asked.

"If so, I hope it involves something with my family." He added.

"Not this time, even though I wouldn't mind some arson," Fintan replied.

"Is it those stupid flowers that you're growing?" Alvar asked, his voice could be mistaken for a laugh.

He wanted to shut the Vacker's mouth.

"Wait...are those Ruy and Trix?" Alvar asked, walking closer to another window next to Fintan.

Alvar then laughed, louder than before as he watched them gathering snow.

"I really hope that this isn't for a mission." He said.

"I can assure you, Alvar, that I would never do something involving....snow, I'm not that crazy."

Just thinking about it made Fintan feel the need to barf, after all that time in exile, he couldn't even think about cold things without wanting to destroy everyone with the light of his everblaze.

He wished he could drown the entire council in a cold river, to let them know how it feels.

Just thinking about it made his smirk widen.

And Alvar probably noticed, and maybe he was thinking about the same thing, because Alvar smirked too.

"I swear, these two are just trouble," Alvar stated.

"We're all trouble," Fintan replied with pride, but he noticed Alvar taking steps to the kitchen.

"Where are you going?" Fintan asked, raising his eyebrow.

"Getting them a carrot, they might need it to finish the snowman," Alvar answered.

"Oh, so now you wanna help? You usually only do something when it involves your family." Fintan said, tucking his hair behind his long ear.

"Don't blame me, it seems fun," Alvar replied.

"Fire is way more fun, I can assure you that," Fintan said.

The snow got the worst of him, making his pride almost disappear and replaced by anger.

Why couldn't it be summer, all day long?

He wanted to feel the sun burning his skin and everyone around him, while shimmering light spread all over the snow, melting it until it's nothing but useless liquid.

His head tickled from the thought.

"I found one," Alvar said, his cape slid over the floor.

Fintan laughed, almost mockingly as he watched Alvar holding a small carrot. "I didn't expect you not to, now go out there and help those idiots like you wanted. "

Alvar rolled his eyes and didn't answer, but he went outside just like Fintan asked.

In the second his foot touched the snow Ruy and Trix laid their eyes over him and smiled.

They pointed at him and seemed to say something, but Fintan couldn't hear through the closed window.

All he did was watching Alvar showing Ruy and Trix the carrot he bought.

How could they possibly enjoy that weather?

He needed to check it out.

Fintan opened the door and immediately felt the coldness of the snow spreading through his body.

And the worst part is that Trix, Ruy, and Alvar were watching him freezing.

But who cares, he can just burn them when winter is over.

He stepped closer, his body almost hesitated to walk, but he fought over it, and he finally got close to those idiots.

"Did you finish that thing?" Fintan asked.

"We need to make sure you won't burn it to tell you," Trix said, and Ruy nodded.

"I wish I could, now tell me."

Alvar rolled his eyes and let a finger run through his hair. "Fine, we didn't finish it yet, happy?"

Fintan sighed. "Is it really that hard to make three snowballs?" He asked mockingly.

He was now sure they were all idiots.

"Listen, if you don't wanna help us then just...leave," Trix said.

Leave?

The words sinked into his mind, and they made his stomach tickle, and he couldn't help but burst into a laugh.

"Who do you think you're telling to leave? I'm the one in charge here." Fintan reminded him with a smirk.

The second that smirk went over his cheeks Ruy sent his hands towards Trix, preparing to make a shield if needed.

Even though Fintan was powerless in the snow.

"Hey, I won't hurt you over a snowball, I use my power on things that are worth my time," Fintan stated.

"Whatever," Alvar mumbled quietly, his deep breaths became echoes with the wind.

"So are you just going to bother us all day, old guy, or are you willing to help us?"

Fintan's eyebrows squint at Alvar's words.

"I fear I need to, so you won't stay here all day and freeze, I don't want you to be more useless than before."

"But you better watch your words, Vacker." He added.

Ruy and Trix begin to smile widely, and the sun shined through their exposed teeth.

But Alvar? he looked at Fintan with sharp eyes, a look that almost looked like he was throwing a dagger, and his tongue was out in mockery.

"I will get us more snow." Said Ruy, as he walked through a huge amount of snow, closed in a circle.

Ruy put a shield over the snow, and slowly brought it with him, like he was carrying it in a bag.

"This will be enough for the last snowball, the head."

"The last part," Trix stated, as if it wasn't obvious.

Fintan began to wonder if Trix thought he was dumb, or maybe he said that to Alvar, which, in Fintan's perspective, would make sense.

"Let's get to work," Alvar told the rest of them as he carried the snow over what seemed to be the snowman's body.

Fintan sighed, and sent his hands towards the snow, but the second he even got close, he could feel disturbing pain rushing in his fingers, and slowly getting to his bones.

It's like his powers wanted to fight, to burn it, like every sense of fire he knew would disappear if he touched it.

Fintan wanted to scream, to beat someone, but he didn't, he stand still and took a step back.

"Seems boring, you guys should do it on yourself!" He said, like it was a command.

"Whatever you say, boss." Alvar told him as Ruy used his power to place the snow in Alvar's bare hands.

Slowly, he and Trix begin to make the shape of a ball from the snow.

As Fintan watched them he realized he wasn't that useful at helping with that thing, but it's just a snowball, full of coldness, the ugliest thing in the world.

So why would he care?

"Now it's time to place the carrot!" Alvar announced with his back straight in pride with his eyes.

Alvar began to put the carrot close to the snowman, and it felt like everything went on in slow motion.

"Let me do it!" For a moment, Fintan could barely believed those words left his mouth, but he knew that something within him wanted to feel like he didn't go outside for nothing.

Alvar blinked for quite a long time, and slowly let Fintan hold the carrot.

The silence was loud.

That told Fintan he needed to work fast.

Without hesitation and cold hands, he placed the carrot over the snowman, and took his steps back.

"It looks nice." Trix said.

"It just needs a final touch." Alvar told them and took his cape off.

Fintan looked at Alvar with confusion, why would he do that?

But Fintan realized he placed the cape over the snowman.

"NOW, it looks nice." Alvar stated, placing his hands over his hips, a smirk full of pride sailing over his cheeks.

"We did a decent job," Ruy told the rest.

"Sure we did, I guess, now we should head back inside," Fintan claimed, already going inside.

But the rest didn't follow him, just stared at the snowman, patiently and happily.

Fintan rolled his eyes as he opened the door, and went inside, but he couldn't help but stare at them from the window.

It was...kinda nice, even if it was in the snow.
