I found this pressed leaf inside my Andrew Wyeth book, placed there (I’m not kidding) at least 15 years ago. It’s so shockingly well-preserved, considering how much this graceful New England Maple leaf has been bumped around, lost in the shuffle of everyday life, and moved across the country. I mentioned Andrew Wyeth a week or two ago in another post (a book selfie) in terms of his mastery of detail. And I’ve been thinking about that topic quite a bit over the last few weeks, especially this morning as I prepare to sequester myself into my office for a weekend long writing session. QOTD: What’s your favorite tool for organizing your ideas? I can’t lie. One, because I’ve never been equipped with a filter, and Two because when I love something I go all in. And I love Pinterest, you guys!! I use it for storyboarding all my ideas, even the ones I haven’t started working on yet. I’ve always said that if anyone wanted to get to k ow me, all they would have to do is look at my Pinterest.😂 This one is the official public board I created for LAST GIRLS. You can see the whole thing on Pinterest (link in my bio). Coming from a background in design and art direction made me extremely visual. I can see one photo and start to question what the story is behind the subject’s expression or sometimes even a setting (which will come into play with the WIP I’m about to begin). I need to fill my mind with enough images that I see running scenes of my stories playing out. If you watch this video you’ll recognize almost everything in Last Girls. I love that I can keep the boards for my Works In Progress set to private then turn them on so readers have a view into my process after publication.
