Another 5am full moon pic.
Papaver cambricum (Welsh Poppy) both common colours #oneadayplant One for all my Welsh friends out there. I feel this plant better represents Wales than a Leek does. (Just my opinion) One of my favourite late spring plants. I’m drawn particularly to the overall elegance of the plant, the purity of yellow and orange saturation and the crinkles petals on the flowers. Seeds freely, but rarely rampantly. It is a welcome free visitor to any garden that I have encountered it in. I may have even spread seed from my gardens into those of willing friends in the past. Used to be called Meconopsis cambrica for anyone recognising the plant, but not the name. #papaver #poppy #meconopsiscambrica #papavercambricum #welsh #welshpoppy #orange #yellow #latespring #selfseeders #selfseeded #fence #timber #iplantsman #gardening #gardeningtips #gardeningadvice #plants #gardens #wildflower #pollinators #nativeflora #ukwildflower (at Crowborough, East Sussex) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAPnse4ARkE/?igshid=hzjojix4zpfi
Plant of the Day
Friday 17 May 2019
A plant from Alaska and Siberia Thermopsis lupinoides was creating some early summer colour and a nectar and pollen source for the bees. This herbaceous perennial grows from a rhizomatous rootstock but is clump forming and not as invasive as other Thermopsis species. This plant is useful for a well drained soil in a sunny location.

Essential Japanese Seasonal Decorations - Spring
Seasonality: Late Spring/ April
Japanese Name: Wagashi - Hana Shidare
English Name: Traditional Japanese Confectionery - Weeping Sakura
The significance of the cherry blossom tree, also called sakura (桜), in Japanese culture goes back hundreds of years. The cherry blossom represents the fragility and the beauty of life. It’s a reminder that life is almost overwhelmingly beautiful but that it is also tragically short. When the cherry blossom trees bloom for a short time each year in brilliant force, they serve as a visual reminder of how precious and how precarious life is. So, when Japanese people come together to view the cherry blossom trees and marvel at their beauty, they aren’t just thinking about the flowers themselves, but also about the larger meaning and deep cultural tradition the cherry blossom tree.
