Nightcrawler scares an abusive father

At Forge's request, Kurt takes leave from Excalibur to meet him in DC, with his image inducer of course. Once he's touched down he goes for a stroll in the sun and comes across a family on vacation. The father is openly abusive to his wife and child, and kicks off over nothing after denying a short rest.

When the father starts beating the kid Kurt steps in, grabbing him and teleporting him to the top of a tall building. He turns off the image inducer and turns on beast mode, dangling the dude over the edge. After scaring the fuck out of him and reducing him to a blubbering mess, Kurt makes his point. The weeping father apologises to his son and Kurt goes on his merry way.

This is actually a terrible way to intervene in an abusive relationship of any kind. Sure, maybe this was a one off and the dude learnt his lesson, but his behaviour before that suggests otherwise. Having embarrassed the abuser, he's likely to take that out on his family. Scaring the dude half to death does nothing to affect the power or relationship dynamics and certainly doesn't take the victims' agency or safety into account long term. Maybe that's the point, idk.
