You were supposed to be subtle. Sneaking into Karasuno’s gym wasn’t exactly your idea, but as the new apprentice manager for Kamomedai High School’s volleyball team, you had been tasked with a bit of... recon.
Nothing dramatic. Just observe. Get a feel for the rhythm of the infamous crows before the next tournament. Watch their movements, note their rotations. Maybe catch a glimpse of their strange, tiny-number-ten prodigy everyone kept talking about. Simple. In and out. No one notices. Except someone did. “Hey! Who’s that?!”
You froze mid-step, your notebook halfway tucked into your hoodie. You had barely peeked through the gym’s back entrance before the voice hit you like a volleyball spike. A blur of orange hair and another blur of chaotic energy came charging toward you like twin lightning bolts. “Uh-oh,” you muttered. And then - feet stomping - two figures appeared in full.
“Who are you?” the shorter one with brown hair and a wild glint in his eyes asked, pointing directly at your face. “I don’t think I’ve seen them before,” the orange-haired one said, his wide eyes blinking curiously. “Wait… are you from another school?” “I-I’m not- I mean-” You backed up a step. The wild-haired one gasped. “You’re a spy! A volleyball spy!”
“I’m not spying!” you squeaked, but it was too late. “Get them!!” Before you could escape, both Hinata and Nishinoya grabbed you by the arms and dragged you straight into the gym, your heels skidding against the floor. “W-Wait-!” “No dirt on the court!” Noya said sternly, dropping to the floor and yanking off your shoes before you could stop him.
“Wha- Hey!!” you yelped, trying to tug your socks back into place. Tanaka strolled over, arms crossed and an unmistakable grin spreading across his face. “Well, well, well... what do we have here?” “I swear I’m just taking notes! I didn’t mean to- I wasn’t going to do anything suspicious!” Tanaka raised a brow and leaned in close. “That’s exactly what a spy would say.”
“I’m really not a spy!” You squirmed, now trying to wriggle away on socked feet, only to bump right into Hinata standing behind you. Nishinoya’s eyes gleamed, flicking toward Tanaka. You were getting nervous.
“Should we interrogate them, Tanaka-san?” he asked innocently. Tanaka’s grin widened. “Yup.” Before you could blink, ten fingers suddenly pounced onto your midsection. “W-Wait- NO!!” You barely had time to scream before Tanaka’s fingers dug into your ribs and Noya attacked your sides, making you yelp and dissolve into a fit of laughter.
“GYAAAH!! WAHAHA NOHOHOHO!! PLEHEHASE!” “Admit you’re a spy!” Tanaka demanded, laughing along with you as he scribbled mercilessly into your underarms. “I CAHAHAHAN’T! I’M NOHOT!!” Hinata’s eyes lit up. “You’re ticklish? Cool!” he commented, his eyes sparkling.
And with that, he joined the chaos, fingers fluttering down your back and sides, his touch quick and light but impossible to block. “Stop squirming~” Hinata chirped playfully, clearly enjoying himself. “IHIHIHIT TICKLEHEHES!!” you laughed, as your legs began to wobble.
“I know,” he said proudly. You dropped to the floor, curling in on yourself as Tanaka switched to your stomach and Noya began running his fingertips across your socks, grinning with delight. “Ohh, are your feet ticklish too?” he asked with dangerous enthusiasm. “NoHOHO! DOHON’T!! NOHoHot m-my fe- aHAhaAHHH!” But the libero couldn’t resist and tickled.
From across the gym, voices started chiming in. Tsukishima, standing with his arms crossed and his usual look of disapproval, raised an eyebrow. “Idiots, all three of them.” Kageyama, arms half-lifted like he wasn’t sure whether to help or join in muttered, “Why are they always like this…” You couldn’t respond even if you wanted to.
Hinata had shifted to your hips, poking and pinching gently while giggling, all while Noya tugged off one sock, whistling. “Let’s get your sock off and see if you’re more ticklish barefoot~!” “NoHOHO! DON’T YOU DAHAHARE!!” you whined, curling your toes, but the tickling made it easy and in an instant the sock was gone, along with your hope.
You squealed as Noya’s fingers scribbled along your now bare arch, Tanaka going back to your ribs with aggressive precision and Hinata switching sides every few seconds just to keep you guessing. Every nerve in your body was on fire, your laughter uncontrollable, your eyes tearing up as you flailed uselessly, making your vision blurry. It tickled so much.
“STAHAHAHAP!! IHIHI’M GOHOHONNA D-DIE!!” you laughed, unable to break free from the trio’s ticklish interrogation. From above, a loud, familiar voice finally called out. “Alright, that’s enough.” Daichi - their team captain. The trio of gremlins instantly paused, straightening up with sheepish grins.
“Ehehe… Sorry Captain,” Hinata mumbled, pulling his hands away. “We were just having fun!” Noya said. “They’re fine,” Tanaka added, holding up his hands, “look, still breathing.” You lay on the floor, chest rising and falling as you panted for air, your cheeks flushed deep red. You weren’t even sure how your notebook had ended up on the other side of the court.
Daichi walked over and crouched down beside you, his expression calm but amused. “You alright?” he asked gently. You nodded, still catching your breath. “I…think so,” you mumbled as you quickly put your sock back on, feeling a lot saver already.
He extended a hand and helped you to your feet, guiding you toward the gym entrance with an arm behind your back like some sort of noble savior. “Sorry about those three,” he added in a low voice, “they get a little carried away sometimes.” “A l-little?” you stammered.
Daichi chuckled. Then, just before you reached the door, he leaned in slightly and gave you a quick poke in the side. “EEP!!” You jumped with a startled squeak. “Just a reminder,” he whispered, eyes twinkling, “to be more careful next time, Spy-san.” You stared at him, completely flustered. He smiled warmly, gave a slight nod and stepped back.
You stumbled out the door, shoes tucked under your arm, notebook still forgotten back on the court, head spinning like a volleyball in midair. The fresh air outside Karasuno hit your face, but your skin still burned with leftover tingles from every spot they had gotten you. You couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Hinata’s cheerful little giggles, Tanaka’s teasing grin, Noya’s relentless fingers… and Daichi’s gentle warning touch. You had never felt so wrecked in your life. Your thoughts were scrambled. Your heart pounded. And as you walked down the sidewalk back toward Kamomedai territory, all you could think was: What just happened to me?
