Allow me to present some more Pride and Prejudice (1967) propaganda for your consideration...
Mr Darcy in this adaptation is no poor shy boi, he's so unbelievably sassy and it makes his every interaction with people he can't stand unintentionally hilarious.
My favourite example thus far is in the third episode, when Mr Collins approaches to introduce himself at the Netherfield ball. The look Darcy gives the bumbling fool before he wordlessly walks away is so snobby, I love it:
This is the haughtiest portrayal of Mr Darcy I've seen. I love that he wears his emotions on his face! Book!Darcy very much enjoyed being a snob in Hertfordshire and I appreciate that this adaptation emphasises that particular aspect of his character.
