Hi! Are you still accepting Lego Monkie Kid scenario requests? If so, could you write an LMK headcanon featuring Macaque with a [female] [romantic] reader?

The idea is that the reader is half-human and mostly demon. She falls in love with Macaque, and he falls for her too. But the reader is basically a tsundere—way too proud to admit her feelings. Thanks to a plan set up by MK and his friends, they manage to get Macaque and the reader together. I think this idea is super fun XD

ᯓᡣ𐭩 You and Macaque had always seemed to have something to bicker about in one way or another. He was just so infuriatingly charming, and it was annoying knowing you couldn't control how your heart flutters when he'd flash you one of his sharp grins

ᯓᡣ𐭩 The Monkey Crew eventually started to take notice… mostly MK and Mei. Mei's the first to start making playful comments and jabs about it, and MK would back it up by saying you should totally go for it! But the idea of confessing to Macaque of all demons was nerve-wracking

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Little did you know at the time, but Macaque felt very much the same. Something about the spunk you carried drew him in, and he found himself feeling at home in your wit. But how to make it clear to a fiesty half-demon like you that he was actually interested?

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Lucky for you both, Mei and MK had been scientifically picking apart cheesy romance movies behind the scenes to see how they could help. At first it was fun seeing you two have a "will they won't they", but now they had the perfect plan! Surely you wouldn't mind, right?

ᯓᡣ𐭩 The next time a festival came to town, they were ready. MK was dragging you along, promising that he'd found something super cool and you just weren't gonna believe it! On the other end, Mei was luring a very tired Macaque in the same direction under the guise of a totally super important reason (her exact words)

ᯓᡣ𐭩 When you made it, you were surprised to see what was waiting for you. Away from town, in a small forest clearing, was a picnic blanket. Different foods bought from the festival vendors lined the fabric, along with two glasses. You looked up, about to ask what it was all for when Macaque showed up. You felt your breath catch

ᯓᡣ𐭩 The two of you watched Mei and MK set down some speakers to play cheesy romance music before running away. Macaque sat on the tarp first, and you took it as a silent invitation to sit beside him. "You know," he began, using his tail to bring a bowl of fruits closer. His nail hooked to the one on top and he brought it into his hand "If you wanted to tell me something, you could've just asked. No need to get the kid involved" he smirked

ᯓᡣ𐭩 "I didn't choose this" you argued. "Sure" Macaque hummed, eating his fruit before hooking a new piece, this time holding it out to you. "Well we're here now. Got anything for me?" He asked knowingly. It wasn't long after that when your feelings caught up to you, and soon you were messily rushing out a confession. Even more surprising, was Macaque returning it wholeheartedly

So how does courtnapping work??

"Courtnapping"; a mix of "courting" + "kidnap", is basically the demonic version of a proposal.

When demons were still scattered clans/prides across the mortal realm, it was very difficult for clans to interact without a lot of violence involved. Either because of competition for food, or because someone mistoke a glamoured demon for a mortal animal and starting biting.

What's a prospective lover to do if their beloved's family won't let them near without a fight? Easy; steal their lover away so that they can court them (among other things) in private.

As society grew; "courtnapping" became part of the demonic consciousness as a legitimate dating strategy. It was a loud way of announcing your intentions to the intended's family that you wanted them as a mate, whilst also showing off some muscle/magic.

However, demons are not animals. And if the kidnapped party rejects their captor's affections, it is considered polite to let them go. Only *uncouth* demons dare to lock their beloved away without contact with their family. And only truly vile ones (like Kui Mulang or Sai Tai Sui) keep them as forced spouses.

It's downright expected that a demon whisks away their future spouse - after all, who doesn't want to be swept off their feet?

Among wealthier Underworld clans who've adopted celestial/mortal practices, courtnapping isn't as common. Imperial China-style arranged marriages were the norm for the longest time up until a certain Bull Prince fell in love with an Iron Fan warrior, changing the desire among noble demons towards love matches. Courtnapping is considered a legitimate way of declaring "I object!" to an arranged marriage by giving the bride/groom a second option and a moment to rethink the arrangement.

Some wedding parties even hold a mock courtnappings between the new couple so that they can run off from the festivities and enjoy their honeymoon. Think how Spartan weddings involved the groom "kidnapping" the bride from their own ceremony.

Also because of some hilarious idea sharing with @soniclozdplove, we agree; People were kidnapped by demons so frequently in the Imperial era, not because of demon's eating them - but because of *marriage fraud*.

Think of it like this:

China is under strict Confucian and filial piety ideals. If your parent wants you to marry a specific person, you have pretty much no say in the matter.

Unless.

You just so happen to be kidnapped by a demon who wants to keep you as their legally binding spouse.

Human: "Oh no~ I'm captured by an hunky demon who wants to marry me! Guess I'm going to have to stay here and miss out on my arranged marriage." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Demon: "And we can no-fault divorce at any time!" Human's Family: "We'll just take them back!" Lawyer: "Actually you can't. It's a legally binding marriage. Unless the captive expresses their rejection or wants to leave; it's legitimate." Human's Family: "Crap. Well, we'll just hire a mercenary or warrior to reverse-kidnap them back!" (*Later...*) Mercenary: "Avast foul demon! I have been sent to reclaim your stolen bride/groom!" Demon, turns to "captive": "Yay or nay, hun?" Human, looks at mercenary: "Ew. Nay. He's older than my dad." Demon, turning on dramatics: "LEAVE THIS PLACE YOU SOLIDER OF FORTUNE! ONLY ONES WITH PURE HEARTS SHALL TAKE THEM BACK!"

In more serious scenarios, a courtnapping can be faked to safety remove a person in an abusive home. Abusers can't control you if you're behind a giant lumbering demon with a prenup.

DBK got into this in the Tang-era when he and Princess Jade Face were "married". He was just helping her claim her inheritance, since her dad's will would only pay out if she was married (the Underworld Earth-Fox Clan are the "mimicking human/celestial"-trends types). PIF knew of this arrangement, but was still jealous af and nearly blew the whole of Thunder Mountain in her rage (it was how they learned she was pregnant with Red Son).

Zhu Bajie is an odd duck in this case; since he married Gao Cuilan the normal human way, but his instincts told him to steal her away when her family suddenly became hostile towards him. Cuilan didn't really object because she truly loved him, but was upset that contact between her and her family was cut. Even after the couple are legally divorced; Bajie still considers Cuilan his wife - because in a demonic sense, she's still his willing mate. Lots of stories written about the Pilgrims post-Journey have Bajie go back to her so that they can (in human sense) remarry.

Courtnapping still occurs in the modern day; just with a lot of pre-arranged consent involved. Racing, mock-battles, and the spat with between the lovers' parents - demons do love the thrill of the chase after all. But unplanned kidnappings of desired spouses do still happen.

In Red Son and MK's case; they've accidentally been courting each other for a long time. Mostly because they're dorks who don't realise what their rivalry looks like from the outside - especially during the Season 1 era.

Red Son, showing off his plans: "Here is my current brilliant idea for reclaiming our power! Step 1; We engage Noodle Boy and his friends in battle. Step 2: While you two are occupying Dragon Girl and his fathers, I capture Noodle Boy. Step 3: I keep him hidden in my old base in Fire Wind Cave. Step 4: I have full access to the Staff and all of Noodle Boy's magical abilities! It's foolproof!" DBK & PIF: (*share knowing smiles*) PIF: "Dear, I'm glad that you've finally developed an interest in romantic matters - but our current goals do not align with planning a marriage just yet." Red Son, confused: "Huh?" DBK: "And while it would be advantageous if you married Sun Wukong's heir, I feel that tensions between our families are too high to consider even a superficial union." PIF: "It's really sweet that you considered it though." Red Son: (*turns back to planning board, realises that his plan to capture MK resembles a traditional courtnapping*) Red Son, nearly magenta from embarrassment as he tears up the plan: "Err... never mind then."

In season 3 when Red Son saved Mei, Sandy, and MK from the dessert; DBK & PIF weren't mad that they had enemies at the dinner table - but because at a glance it looked like Red Son had stolen himself a spouse without warning them! And he brought some of his spouses family members to hammer out the details!

If the gang hadn't immediately brought up the Samadhi Fire; DBK's next sentence would have been asking them; "What are your intentions with my child? Do we need to provide a dowry? Is there plans for grandchildren?"

Red Son might have died on the spot. XD

so we all know about the temperature headcanons where Wukong started running really really hot after getting steam-cooked in Laozi's furnace, right?

And how when people write Macaque's dramatic ass recounting his death/fights with Wukong, they describe the touches as having burned/as being burned by the sun?

what if, what if the reason Macaque considers the touches have having burned not just in the metaphorical sense of their burning relationship, but literally as well.

like, because Wukong got Mountain'd by the Buddha almost immediately after the furnace, he and Macaque wouldn't have much physical contact before Macaque left so he never got used to the higher temps that Wukong's body had taken on. So when they clashed later, he was taken aback by how hot even the simple brush of a hand was, let alone more.

Macaque getting overwhelmed and overheated just from Wukong getting too close while he's been pinned, Macaque screaming like he's been branded when Wukong grabs his arm, Macaque biting back sobs after a claw marks feels like some dragged a heated iron fire poker across his skin, ect because he's just not used to nor expecting the pure heat coming from the king. and then he turns around and turns into some poetic reason Wukong was always gonna hurt him, maybe he assumed it was an after effect of his magic he hid when not in battle so when Macaque became an enemy it was suddenly turned on him, but of course also having no real understanding of how or why Wukong suddenly burned.

post death Macaque runs much colder than he did prior, which sorta counteracts Wukong's heat so that touch is more comfortable and maybe Wukong's cooled down minimally over the centuries, but imagine him being worried during the first bit of their reconcilation of touch not entirely because Wukong killed/blinded him, but also because he's still pretty sure that even soft touch may physically feel like he's being burned

This isn't really a request, I've just had this idea worming it's way into my brain and I wanted to send it somewhere because I found the idea hilarious:

If you know the scene from wolf children where Hana's confused about whether she should take her sick daughter to the hospital or a veterinary office,

I got the funny idea of either Macaque or Wukong and their s/o arguing over to whether they should take their sick child to a doctor or a vet because the kid has so many monkey-like attributes.

I don't know if it's as funny as I think it is, but the idea had me cackling

it certainly is a funny idea, just picturing it makes me laugh!

wukong/macaque going into father mode over their sick child, confused whether or not the take them to the vet or to the doctor.

their s/o telling them to calm down, it’s just a light cold and that they can just take them to the local pediatrician.

silly arguments ensue as the child lays in their bed, confused as to why their parents are arguing.

wukong/macaque - “you don’t understand, we’re not supposed to get sick. what do we do?!”

s/o - “maybe calm down first…?”

they were interrupted by the sound of a cute small sneeze,

more panicking.

In the behind-the-scenes of LMK, a creator mentioned that Pigsy and Sandy were both "in the military" prior to parting ways. It's supposed to explain why the two are such capable fighters + Pigsy having military-like control of the kitchen.

My immediate thought was "huh, like regular boot camp?" then I realised; these two are out-and-out yaoguai. Spirits without human forms or glamours. Why would they be enlisted?

Well I considered the world of LMK, and figured that humans and non-human spirits living alongside one another had to start somewhere.

And that integration wasn't particularly smooth. By the time of the big reveal; humans had lived as the only top-dog for centuries, and many didn't even know yaoguai were real and sentient beings. While many cultures accepted the spirits like old friends, others were more... scorched earth. China in the time of LMK is firmly in the "demons are people too" camp. But before then there was a LOT of in-fighting and civil conflicts.

The Celestials and the Underworld stayed out of it like they always do. Human problems is Human problems. But a decree was made by the Jade Emperor to stop demi-gods or sympathetic deities from fighting in the war.

So as a loophole, Wukong (as "Dr Tianchan Shihou") silently enlisted as a non-combatant medic. He had ignored mortal-on-mortal conflicts when he could, especially once time had passed so much that he had no idea what anyone was fighting about. But the rights of demonkind is a cut and dry decision in his opinion. He was tired of fighting, but he couldn't just stand by while young humans and demons were getting hurt out there.

At some point in Dr Shihou's military career, one of the superiors recognised him as having symptoms of fatigue and post-traumatic stress, and asked if he'd benefit from a canine helper.

Dr Shihou was initially adamant against any dog companion. He's a monkey, and monkeys are naturally afraid of dogs. Plus a certain old bite wound on his leg was reason enough to avoid them when possible.

Then one day, while stationed in the Sichuan region, a stubborn pupper planted her head on Dr Shihou's lap and refused to move.

Huan ("happiness") is a trained military K9 specialised in seeking and comforting wounded soldiers. She's a Tibetan Mastiff mix - a breed thats known for it's uh... intimidating size.

They were historically kept to guard herd animals, and Buddhist monasteries and temples, since they can pretty much take down a bear. It's likely the origin of the "lion-dog" creature seen in East Asian mythology.

And in Chinese Folklore; these handsome doggos have a divine ancestor!

Its not known who fathered Quan's litters, since she herself is based on a short-haired Xigou, but my guess is leaning towards another divine doggo. (looking at you, Diting!)

Xiaotian Quan: (*completely ignores her master's calls and runs towards Huan and Dr Shihou*) Huan: (*argumentative boofs as Quan grooms her like a misbehaving pup*) Dr Shihou, recognising Erlang: "EH!?" "Totally mortal engineer" Yang Jian: "UHHH..."

Turns out Erlang had also found a loophole in the Celestial decree. Although the Jade Emperor's nephew and therefore under a lot of scrutiny from other celestial, the three-eyed demi-god's loyalty is ultimately to his home on earth. And he'd be damned if any one of his people went without water or communications. As a minor dam/engineering god, he was able to enlist in the local support corp with minimal brush-up on his degree.

Support Dog Huan as it turns out, is like a quarter divine hound via Quan. She had unknowingly sniffed out the Monkey King not only due to her demon-seeking instincts, but by emotionally sensing a warrior in need of a companion. And celestial hounds are pretty damn loyal creatures.

When the war ended, Wukong brought a new friend home.

Huan was unlikely to be adopted post-war due to her training, and Wukong couldn't stand the thought of his doggy nurse being destroyed. So he adapted her guardian instincts to protect little monkeys of any size, and to calm down his more nervous patients. Huan is very openly affectionate with her new master, running to greet him when he arrives home and slobbering him with kisses. When Wukong is in his non-king persona, he has to pretend that Quan knocks him to the ground when she runs at him for hugs.

The big couch of a dog is endlessly patient with children. The extent she'll voice her annoyance with them is a solid "boof" sound, and sitting on them until their parents call her off. She's also very calm with the little monkeys on the island, letting them endlessly groom her fur as she rests, and letting them ride on her back like a horse.

MK demands to meet Huan when Dr Shihou mentions having a dog. Both parties are delighted when MK and Huan hit it off.

Most times she visits is by Dr Shihou's side; sitting in the shaded outside seating of Pigsy's with a big bowl of water and scraps of beef.

The only time MK or Mei can remember Huan being any sort of aggressive is when a seemingly-normal-human man walked past the restaurant. He had grey hair and a wide smile. Huan growled like thunder until he left. Dr Shihou and Pigsy witnessed the incident and made a mental note to remember what the man looked like in case he showed up in the newspapers.

Huan also seems to growl randomly at something in the shadows. Shihou chalks it up to her being over-protective of him.

Macaque is terrified to get any closer to Wukong when she's around.

I imagine that Wukong and Macaque have a marital bedroom, however the last time it was used was by Macaque before he left to find Wukong during JTTW.

After the pilgrimage Wukong sealed the doors to the martial room and hasn’t stepped foot inside since. Wukong sleeps in his hut or in his art room on a pile of blankets and pillows, not even a cot.

Those new to working in the castle don’t even know what the door leads too, only the immortal who have dedicated themselves to the throne know, even then the color of the walls and the finery of the linen have lost their detail.

its why Wukong's space in the mountain seems to be a simple hut - the actual Stone Palace is in deeper/behind a different waterfall.

He was so distraught after losing Macaque that he didn't want to step foot inside their shared spaces.

In one or two Aus i have, the two monkeys eventually move back into the martial nest/bedroom together. But a LOT of dusting is required! :3

In the Penumbra Au, Wukong's lack of attention to the martial nest leads to the third shadow cub ("Pili/Thunder") being far less developed than their elder siblings. The other two (Rumble & Savage) were stationed in the art & crafts room and the armoury respectively. Macaque had made sure to leave behind shadows to watch over his and Wukong's home - not anticipating that Wukong would miss him enough to donate life energy to the little spirits and make them whole beings.
