so in episode 106 melanie, a woman trapped in a hostile work environment, is traumatised by her boss, a man with considerable power over her. he does this by forcing horrific knowledge into her mind without her consent— knowledge that relates to her father’s death, the topic he knows that she is most vulnerable to, which he quite pointedly mocks her for. and this violation of her consent is specifically meant to act as a ‘punishment’ for asserting her autonomy in a manner that inconveniences him. he tells her that nothing can take back what he did to her, but threatens that if she continues to fight for her independence, if she doesn’t accept her fate, he will do it again, and he will make it so much worse. and, throughout it all, it’s made abundantly clear just how much joy he takes in making her suffer.

I just listened to a Magnus archives statement that was given on the exact date of my birthday, year and all. And it so accurately echoed thoughts that I’ve found myself having so many times before it gave me literal chills.
