Ancient power Core

Tales speak of a race unlike any other that walked the earth in the distant past,in a time before recorded history.

Believed to be a race composed of human and fae hybrids, they were gifted with knowledge from both their respective realms, capable of combining science and magic into a singular discipline. With the knowledge to contain and control arcane energies through crystals and machines they went on to create a great civilization filled with highly advanced and intelligent magical constructs.

Many seek remnants of their technology as none have yet been able to fully replicate their achievements.

To be fair, in several short stories I've written so far, the solution to a problem is to date a creature.

Heartfire

Ryukko glided through the dark silence as silently as the ghosts he commanded. Emerald acid flames simmered from obsidian torches and murky spirits pooled in his footsteps. The shadows of the huge cavern were deep and dangerous, whispering of twisted bodies and broken minds. As Ryukko passed, flames guttered and flared, casting brighter lights and deeper shadows.

Murmurs rippled through the cavern, ghosts and wraiths and specters stirred by their necromancer’s passing. And the power he carried. 

Ryukko glided to a stop at the far end of the cavern, less than a meter from the obsidian shape tucked away there. The object loomed menacingly over the thaumaturge, a dark mass of solid shadows.

Ryukko stepped once more towards it, extending his left hand. As the robe’s sleeve fell back, a golden-ink ring was revealed on his finger. The band was carved of dark, light-sucking onyx with shimmering skeletal bats embossed in gold.

With a single word from Ryukko, acidic sparks flickered from the ring, the Signet of the Nightwatchers. The sparks drew towards the hulking shape, and green flames roared to life. The greedy flaming emerald devoured the enourmous skull in minutes, reducing the whole to ashes. Ryukko, unconcerned, waited.  

The ash shifted. No wind blew through Ryukko’s caverns. Ash and coal dust swirled through the still air, and a vague hint of a form pulled the storm. Green fire erupted, and the form revealed itself.

A coal-black skull, emerald flames burning in its empty sockets. Charcoal bones encased in flickering, acidic fire. Huge wings unfolded behind it, scattering ash with every movement. Ryukko smiled, and those who read the world’s energy shivered nations away.

Realized I’ve never actually posted much of Linast on tumblr! So here he is in all his anxious, bristling glory. The expression series is most recent, the second image is from a few years ago and was in part a theoretical ‘how might Linast choose to look when he’s older?’ thing. It’s one of the few times I’ve illustrated him experimenting with his form and moving between rest and alertness before, too.

Both of these can be found on my deviantart account with their own descriptions, but I need to go to bed so I’m not gonna link them. ^_^;

So today on a fan fic I started...

It is pure crack. The premise is the after Anya Corazon had her exoskeleton ripped off, it regenerated a new physically hollow Anya, which A.I.M. kept in stasis for years to try to figure out how she worked and to experiment on her. The Incursions happened, A.I.M. figured out a way for her to survive, put a record of all their history in her hollow body, and eventually she ended up Battleworld, specifically the Valley of Doom. (old west section) Point is right now she is in the old west part of Doom's world, leading a spider themed cult with a familiar man named Miguel, a cult that tells stories of a world before. Also, they ride steam powered buffalo. Because I felt like it.
