What's your best advice on eating healthy/living a healthy lifestyle? My eating habits are so bad, and I'm working on fixing them. Thanks :)
This can be a tough one in our processed-loving society - I’m no angel here either, but I try the best I can.
So without being a total hypocrite, I think my first piece of advice on this is to listen to your self talk when you’re making food choices. I think it’s the best way to be aware of what your body is telling you it needs versus what your ego thinks it wants. Aka - do you really need the extra fries or is your body telling you it needs fruit and yogurt? Make the choice based on the need - even if it’s the fries, go for the purest fries you can find (baked sweet potato fries, for example).
No matter what, don’t be hard on yourself! It’s ok to have something in a package now and again, as long as you don’t judge yourself for it, in my opinion. If that happens just follow it with a nice big glass of water and do the best you can when making choices at your next meal.
I’ve been a vegetarian my whole life, so I can appreciate judgement-free eating that’s based on what your body intuitively communicates that it needs. For me, meat was something my body consistently told me from the start that it doesn’t want any part of, and I’ve listened. That’s what creates harmony, that connection. I know that my body wants fruit in the morning, green smoothies for lunch, and protein like quinoa and dark green veggies with a little starch for dinner. I know that it needs fruit between meals as snacks. It’s all about listening, through meditation or through awareness of your self talk.
If you’re looking for a great book recommendation, Whole Health by Dr. Mark Mincolla will change the way you look at food and especially sugar, and help you learn to further connect to your body by simply asking your subconscious what nutrition your body needs and doing muscle testing. I was introduced to the book because Mark is a client, but it wasn’t until I read the book cover to cover and met Mark in person for testing that I became a true believer in kinetics.
I hope this helps, and I wish you light and greens on your journey!
