Qui-Gon: Does anyone else’s padawan come over and stare at you for no reason and before you can ask what’s wrong with them they hiccup and you realize they somehow expect you to fix their hiccups for them?
Mace: To be fair? Your face is probably the scariest thing Obi-Wan has ever seen, so write that down-
Qui-Gon: :/ if I try to scare him he’ll probably have a heart attack. Or at least a panic attack.
Tahl: Just start asking about that poem he turned in for a creative writing assignment and it gave the teacher a True Vision. He panics whenever Bant tries to bring it up.
Qui-Gon: The one about me getting bit by a spider and taking a nap? Yeah. No thanks. That one scares me too.
Tahl: I’m sorry, Qui, you’ll just have to deal with him looking at you when he has hiccups.
Qui-Gon: 😭 he’s so fucking cute and it makes me feel guilty but I didn’t even cause that 😭
Mace: That’s okay, tbh, you SHOULD feel guilty when you look at him :)
Obi-Wan’s grip tightened on Satine’s arms as their eyes locked. They stood frozen, silent, waiting for the hunter to pass. Focus, Obi-Wan. But his mind betrayed him. Flashes of the previous night—her voice, her warmth, the impossible longing—clouded his thoughts. What would it be like to give in? To stop fighting it, without fear or regret? But that could never be.
Then, a crueler thought. He remembered the man from the engagement picture—tall, handsome, hers. A sharp pain settled in his chest. She belongs to him.
Obi-Wan and Satine stood unmoving, bodies pressed together, faces close, breathing in sync. The worst possible moment. And yet, the nearness of her felt… right.
“By the gods!” a voice rang out from the bushes.
They jolted apart. Obi-Wan spun, shielding Satine behind him.
Dala stepped out, blaster aimed straight at him. She looked him up and down with contempt. “So, you’re the baby jetii.”
Obi-Wan squared his shoulders, jaw set. How did I not sense her? He focused, steadying himself, fixing her with an unwavering stare.
Dala smirked. “If Duke Adonai wasn’t already dead, I’m pretty sure he’d kill himself right here and now if he saw this.” Her grin widened as she pointed her blaster at Obi-Wan. “It’s one thing to mingle with scum, Princess. But this?” She scoffed. “This is pretty low.”
Satine gripped the back of Obi-Wan’s tunic. He felt her distress mounting, as tangible as his own. His heartbeat picked up, sweat forming at his brow. Confidence slipped through his fingers like sand, making way for something more dangerous—fear. Center yourself, for kriff’s sake!
Dala narrowed her eyes, trying to get a glimpse of Satine’s face.
Obi-Wan shifted, blocking her view.
“I thought you were engaged to that dreamboat of a man,” Dala taunted. “What’s his name again?” She waved a hand dismissively. “Eh, doesn’t matter. You’ll probably never see him again.” She flicked her gaze back to Obi-Wan. “Now, get out of the way, baby jetii, before I fry you.”
Obi-Wan’s expression turned cold. He tilted his head slightly, smirking. “No.”
Dala sighed, then raised her wrist to her mouth, talking into her commlink. “Videk, get back here. I found her.”
Obi-Wan’s hand hovered over his saber, eyes locked on Dala.
And then, he felt it—Videk’s presence growing closer, dark and seething.
Satine’s fingers curled tighter around his tunic, trembling.
Dala studied Obi-Wan. “I fought your kind at Galidraan,” she said. “Killed a few, actually.” Her lips curled. “But I’ve never killed a Padawan before. And I’d rather not start with you.” She leveled her blaster at him. “So be smart. Go find your Master and let me handle the Princess. I promise I’ll take real good care of her.”
Videk emerged from the brush, blaster raised. The barrel hissed, primed for a shot. “Hello, Princess,” he said, winking at Satine. “Miss me?”
Obi-Wan felt her shrink behind him.
“You stupid puppy.” Dala arched a brow, deep lines cutting across her forehead like canyons separating her face from the rest of her head. “I’m giving you a chance to walk away.”
Obi-Wan didn’t move.
Dala’s patience snapped. Her nostrils flared. “Fine. You want to make this difficult? So be it.” She aimed directly at Obi-Wan’s face. “On the count of three,” she told Videk. “He can’t block two bolts at once.”
Videk grinned, eyes gleaming. “This is it, puppy. The end.”
Obi-Wan tensed, instinctively pressing Satine against the tree behind him.
“One,” Dala started. The heat from the blaster’s barrel singed the air between them.
(an AU of my Phir se Karna fic (still unpublished) which is already an AU. It’s primarily a family fic based on Mace keeping custody of Jango after Jaster dies and Jango living at the Temple with him and Depa. Jango’s pronouns in this are they/them and Jocasta Nu, who was already fond of them in PsK, is their primary teacher because of some stuff, so Jango spends a lot of the time in the archives. Jannat is Jango’s Chalactan name and what they go by on paper at the Temple, since only those that knew them before are aware of just who they are (and yeah, they’re Mand’alor) for safety reasons.)
Jango was flat on their back, covered in younglings.
“Jango?” Depa called, trying to muffle her laughter.
“This is my true form,” the child called back, making their blanket of smaller children erupt into giggles.
Mace glances over at the other Masters, who all appear bemused. Tahl, at least, seems charmed.
“Where,” Jinn finally asks, “Is Xanatos?”
Jango shakes the small Mirilian off their face and cranes their head up. It’s a little difficult, so covered they are. “Who?”
“Padawan du Crion,” Depa clarifies.
“Oh!” Jango struggles to a sitting position, most of the younglings still clinging to them and giggling at the change in direction. More flock to their back. “He was just here. Sweethearts?”
The younglings erupt again, this time into tittering, until a ginger child pats at Jango’s face. “He went to change,” the child says, before cuddling into Jango’s awaiting arms.
“Oh,” Jango says. They sound dismayed, which is something Mace files away to be concerned about later. “You guys worked so hard on decorating his robes!”
Jinn winces at that. Du Crion must not be fond of paint.
“It’s almost time for midmeal,” Depa says, more to the younglings than Jango. It has the desired effect, the children all saying almost tearful goodbyes to Jango and demanding hugs.
Eventually, Jango picks their way back over to them, their own clothes well decorated. “Alright, then,” they grump.
Mace doesn’t even try to hide his delighted laughter; Jaster was much the same, having to be taken from children. Doubly so for Jango themself...
“Shall we, then?” he asks. “Maybe we’ll happen on Padawan du Crion on our way out.”
Sure enough, du Crion is bustling back down the hall in paint-less robes. “Oh! Are you done?”
“Yeah, it’s about time for them to eat,” Jango says, beaming.
Du Crion smiles, which draws both Jinn and Tahl’s attention.
“I hope you didn’t get rid of the robes they’d worked on,” Jango says earnestly. “It’s good to have something they can go wild on that you already know they can’t ruin, any more than it already is at least. For next time!”
Du Crion looks star struck. “Next time? Yeah, yeah, I’ll definitely wear it next time.”
Jango smiles so gently and in answer du Crion practically melts.
“Padawan,” Jinn interrupts, clearing his throat. “We have midmeal with Tahl planned, remember?”
It’s like night and day as du Crion slouches and huffs. “Yes, Master. I’ll talk to you again soon, Jannat?”
Jango tilts their head. “I’m sure we’ll see each other at the Archives.”
With that, they go their separate ways.
“What was that about?” Depa asks, somewhat hysterically, once they’re all far enough to be out of sight and hearing.
Jango taps their lips. “I don’t know, it’s just... Nice? To be noticed? I don’t know. And once he let himself, he did seem to have a good time with the younglings.”
“Do you like him?” Mace asks gently.
Jango stares blankly at him. “Do I?” they ask, ears reddening as they duck their head, looking more than a little flustered.
“I suppose, if he keeps to boundaries you set, you can find out,” Mace says, ruffling his child’s curls. “I do find it funny that a not small number of people now believe you’re Jocasta’s padawan.”
“You didn’t correct them?”
“What?” Depa asks. “And risk losing half the comedy in this?”
So fun fact about me - I used to draw alot. I'm no where near @delicateblackrose level, but I enjoyed it a ton
And I really miss drawing, but I have a bunch of ideas like...
Anakin answering Padmé's apartment door, only to face a startled delivery man. No context, no words while Anakin - tired, with bandages wrapped around his ribs, in his underpants - pays for their take-out with 100 credits, says thanks, and closes the door with a "honey, dinner's here." The delivery man stands there for a solid minute not knowing what the hell just happened.
Obi-Wan saying to Satine that they should go out for drinks or be fancy adults or something. She looks him dead in the eye while taking off her bra. "Not happening," she says, flopping on the couch. He just sighs and sits beside her. After a moment of being a prickly hedgehog, Satine crawls over to him and snuggles into his side. While they're watching the Holonet she hands him a positive pregnancy test. He stares at it, then the last frame is of them kissing.
A strip where Mace keeps getting mildly inconvenienced - his comlink stops working, a mouse droid trips him, there's no more creamer for his caf, he loses a round of Sarbaac to Ponds, there's a tear in his robe, someone (Obi-Wan) does an impression of him during a Council meeting, etc. He keeps getting more and more frustrated, and at the end of the day, when he heads back to his apartment totally, absolutely done, there's a little note with a tray of cookies on the table. 'Caleb noticed you were having a bad day and made you cookies. Unfortunately he fell asleep before he could bring them to you. Don't eat too many - you always forget you have diabetes. See you tomorrow for sparring practice, old man. -Depa'
Breha Organa in a meeting on Coruscant, incredibly bored while the Chancellor and Master Yoda yap away. Her husband is holding her hand under the table, but he's rather intrigued by the conversation. She sighs, glancing over on occasion to Padmé Amidala beside her, who appears to be taking diligent notes. Every time she looks over, Padmé is typing - then at one point, she tries hears a muffled snort across the room. Breha glances around the packed room, surprised to find Anakin Skywalker trying not to laugh at his datapad and Padmé looking proud of herself. Somehow, that makes the entire meeting worth it
Tahl and padawan Obi-Wan weaving through the streets of Coruscant, having an incredibly hard time finding a Life day present for Qui-Gon. They're almost at their wits end, and Obi-Wan eventually finds a scraggly, slightly brown plant that probably isn't legal on Coruscant. He buys it for Qui-Gon and Qui-Gon loves it. (Obi-Wan does miss Tahl kissing Qui-Gon when he turns around for cake). Last frame - Obi-Wan is showing the same plant to Ahsoka when she's having a hard time, and telling her that even the smallest plants have strength to endure anything.
