Going back to the past for some nostalgia 💕
One of my oldest otp! Who's still crying with me for these two?? 😭😭😭
It's been 16 years and my heart still aches 😭
"Hey."
Regret coats his tongue, wraps itself around his throat and seeps into his skin. His heart is trying to compensate for this - panicked, heavy. Pumping, pumping, pumping harder and harder as if it could keep pace with the racing thoughts in his head.
Mello stares at this apparition standing before him. His eyes dart around, examining the figure in the dim light for any signs of the supernatural; transparent skin, empty eyes, a glitch in the simulation. This person was not meant to exist anymore. It wouldn't be the first time Mello has talked to a ghost.
"What are you doing here?"
It's a stupid question, because the answer is irrelevant. The real question, looming menacingly above his head, is this: Why now, when it is too late?
"I'm going to help you with the mission."
A mission he won't survive. He is convinced: the reappearance of this ghost is a taste of what's to come. An inkling of the cruelty awaiting him on the other side.
He welcomes this ghost into his life again, because he deserves it. He deserves this pain, the reminder that his actions have consequences, that in the end, he is not meant to be happy.
Soon he would become a ghost too. There is no solace in that, just acceptance.

We have each gave eachother 3 colours and a prompt, and I promptly did my own thing 😅
Colours were an orange, a dark purple, and a purple gray and prompt was tending (soldering iron) wounds. This was super fun, let's do it again sometime!
