I feel a little guilty for not having gone through the stages of grief correctly.

I just keep thinking about numbing the sensation with some substance. But I can't use drugs rn.

Fic idea that’s been eating at me for a couple years- I just don’t think I could do it justice.

The Marauder’s (+Lily and Snape) go forward in time, to Harry’s era. Reason being they were getting into stuff they shouldn’t have and Snape interfered, causing a fight. Magical backlash happens and somehow creates a wormhole in time. It would have to be very much AU in order to remain interesting.

It’s 7th/8th year, depending on how out of universe you wanna go. The war is still very much going on but this takes place in Hogwarts itself.

Dumbledore decides to keep them at Hogwarts to eliminate the chance of their older selves meeting their past selves. They’ve also been sworn to accept an obliviate before going back to their time, ensuring the timeline remains intact (angst, yum).

The main character is, ofc, Harry Potter. It’s a romance bc I like romances. I also like angst.

Also, because I find it to be a pet peeve of mine, Harry will have previous experience with romantic partners. I feel like it’s become such a common thing for the MC to remain ridiculously naïve until they find ‘the one’ that it’s low-key starting to give me the ick.

Anyway. The point here is that Harry and Co. try to keep separate from the Marauders. For two reasons- Harry doesn’t want the pain of dealing with his lost parents (and Peter and Snape) and Harry isn’t exactly on the Light side. He’s not on the Dark either- he’s entirely in his own corner.

However, Harry’s plotting and clear avoidance (and protectiveness of his friends, who are somehow always watching) spark an interest in the time travelers. They keep coming at him from all angles until, finally, they catch him up to something (this is kinda meh- I never bothered to think it out completely). An argument ensues and, somehow, the Marauder’s slowly begin wedging themselves into Harry’s life.

Here’s the part that might squick, but idk. The layers that can be unraveled here, the pure angst, is too fun not to explore. Harry begins to fall in love with one of them.

Can be Snape, Sirius, or Remus- honestly they’re all just bundles of potential.

Reconciling the current Snape and his clear disdain for Harry vs this past version who’s tentatively becoming something more… or is Harry just a replacement for Lily? How can Harry love someone who’ll grow to cause him so much pain? Who helped lead the Dark Lord to his parents? Their romance would be turbulent, classic enemies to lovers.

Seeing this past version of Sirius, so confident and carefree. The heartbreak for older Sirius would hit harder. And how can he look at his Godfather again, knowing how he feels? He knows his Sirius is a different man, doesn’t even know Harry the way his younger self does, but how can Harry cope with losing someone who doesn’t even remember being found in the first place? Their romance would be reckless, laughter and heartache in one.

Remus- mischievous but kind. These things are still the same, even after everything. Remus would also have reservations. He’s smart, he knows better than to throw himself at something that was never his to keep. And how would Harry even reconcile older Remus, who’s married, to younger Remus, who he loves? I imagine this to produce a lot of turbulent feeling in Harry. Their romance would be desperate and starved- a slow build that explodes all at once.

Also, how the hell do any of them come clean to Lily and James that they’re shagging his son?

Of course, at the end of it all, we know how this ends. They were always going to go back to their own time- they were always going to forget Harry.

But…

maybe if they were feeling a little clever…

some memories could have been secretly delivered in a vial, ready for a pensive.

Then what comes next?

Merry Christmas! This is called “Christmas Through The Years”!

Hello! Merry Christmas! Took me about a day and a half to make all 6. I have one more Christmas one left but it's going to take a huge amount of time to finish. Hair/fur is a pain. I hope you like all of them. I know it's nothing fancy but I tried. Once again, Merry Christmas!
