I don’t think people really understood Misa’s character,
I mean her whole point of existence was to represent what a victim of circumstances can become.

Due to how she lost her parents and how she entered the modeling scene at such a young age, it’d make sense why she has a few screws loose. Remember, Misa’s journey takes place during the early 2000s of Japan meaning the modeling agencies are all corrupted (and still are to this day); models during the early 2000s, especially in Japan, were taught that their whole life had to be devoted to modeling or else. And since Misa joined at such a young age, with no adult there to support her, she was practically fresh meat for these corrupt agencies to toy with and shape.
So just imagine that you’re a young Misa Amane, you have no family, no sense of self, and yet, your passion to be loved and seen by the world is what’s driving you to live, so you enter the modeling field expecting greatness—only to be groomed by the cruelty of the modeling world. Misa is confirmed to have had multiple stalkers before, to have met parasocial fans irl and was even forced to interact with them due to her image as the “perfect idol”, and was then forced to get used to this behavior from fans, which would explain why she was fine when L had touched her butt—why she laughed about it.
Not only that, but it’d also explain why Misa thinks she’s so perfect, why she thinks she deserves the best, because she’s doing what everyone wants her to do and be with ease. And she’s sick of it, she just wants to be the young woman that she is while still being relevant in the modeling world; but both of those dreams can’t come true, only one can.
Now let’s get back to the topic of her parents death. Since her parents died by a man attempting to rob them, Misa wanted to see that same man suffer. She wanted him dead. and reasonably so, but the government wasn’t helping her get that revenge, instead the court case had ruled the man innocent and falsely accused of the murder. This made Misa furious, and reasonably so. Not only was this the first form of loss the world would throw at Misa before the modeling agency tragedies occurred, this was the very event that shaped Misa as the obsessive young girl the fandom knows her as today. She went mad hoping the man who murdered her parents would suffer the same way she did and how her parents did before their final moments. Hence why, when Kira killed him (during her era as an idol since the case for Misa’s parents was prolonged for so long), Misa would immediately became a Kira supporter, because Kira brought her “justice”.
Not only that, but she was then given the ability to see people’s names and lives over their heads as if some deity blessed her (in a sense she was right).
With those powers, with her fame, and her love for Kira, that alone made Misa believe that she’s a goddess and that Light is hers and hers alone. And what’s worse, when she finally met her “savior” (and the fact that he’ was near her age range and rather handsome) she further fell in “love” with him. That “love” was so twisted that she’d begin to show her body off to Light in hopes he’d give her attention, like how her creepy fans would, she’d threaten him and force him to not talk to other girls, because she’s never had full control of her life before, until now, and she’d even off herself just to stay with him.
Misa didn’t have a life until Kira came in, until Light did (ironic, huh?). So, she’s not only a victim of circumstances, but also the doer of her self-destruction.
So, before you judge Misa for being annoying, and obsessive, try to understand where that obsession came from first.

"misa was actually really smart" "misa was dumb" misa was TRAUMATISED and genuinely needed help. her parents' death and her initial inability to get justice for them clearly deeply scarred her, and instead of properly processing her grief she turned to feelings of vengeance and blind adoration and obsesssion towards light. in my opinion she was very much deranged and not in her right mind
