Yep, still working on Mermay stuff. Probably will throughout the rest of the year XD I've imagine 3 different scenarios that could be background for this scene: 1. Basil was arrested on an English navy ship for insubordination, ship was attacked by pirates, and Basil is the only one who survived, 2. He was a prisoner on a pirate ship, sustained injuries from trying to escape, then THAT ship was attacked and he's still the only survivor, or 3. He was a prisoner on Ratigan's ship (Blood and Gold AU?) and eventually got thrown overboard for, you guessed it, insubordination. Probably challenged Ratigan, lost the fight and got that nasty gash to his chest in the process, then was thrown overboard for the trouble. I might have gone overboard with the blood (like I usually do), but I imagine a cutlass would probably draw a lot of blood, and he's probably bled a lot, especially if he's been adrift for several days. Bigger possibility to draw sharks that way, so more danger! >:D Anyways! In any scenario, curious mer-Amber finds him drifting along and at least helps him get to land where someone can heal his injuries. He vaguely remembers a woman rescuing him, but thinks dehydration and blood loss made him hallucinate. But eventually they cross paths again. Lots of possibilities for what happens next!
