(Fun fact: this comic was originally a joke and was going to be drawn with super wack 90s yaoi proportions (except for the end where mello wakes up in a cold sweat) but I changed my mind and decided to make it somewhat serious right before starting it. But I almost kind of regret it because now I feel like it's taking itself too seriously >_<)

What if, when Mello died and went to heaven, God said “you need to make amends with your rival before you can proceed,” and sent his spirit back to Earth?

However, he needs a vessel. Conveniently, Near is in possession of a body perfectly suited to the task, with manipulable electricity and capacity for speech, in the form of a beautiful tentacled custom furby.

Mello is horrified. Near is delighted.

It takes a while for Mello to make peace with his new form - by all accounts, sparks fly (more literally than metaphorically, at least at the beginning) But eventually, he learns to exist within it.

Near prepares for him a new outfit, suited to his aesthetic preferences, and gets assistance on cases (more competitive on Mello’s end, pointing out flaws in Near’s work, but Near appreciates it all the same)

Their relationship grows. Evolves. Blossoms into something strange and beautiful. All who witness it are scarred for life. But they don’t care. What they have is special. Wonderful and unnerving and special. This is heaven now.
