It depends on the kind of magical girl world you put him in. I feel like he'd absolutely THRIVE in a world like Pretty Cure, with his smarts, kindness, and utter determination to save and help everyone he can; but those exact traits would absolutely tear him to shreds in the Puella Magi system.
Overall, though, I think being a magical girl would be pretty fitting for him; he's a kind person who wants to save everyone, but isn't afraid to get down and dirty when it comes down to it and it's clear he has to fight.
