Sorry to anyone who gets offended by this but I just want to point out that Athena did a lot of weird misogynistic shit and it really always bothered me. What bothers me the most is that people try to pawn her off as some feminist icon lol, no, that is Artemis and Ares. Not to say that Athena wasn't awesome. All the gods had their weird quirks and shit but, still. I'm nearly bringing this up because Ares is written as a misogynistic douchebag in modern time, when he literally had female only cults formed around him and a whole army of women. (Aka: The Amazons) With his sister Enyo and close friend Eris. Athena literally stated that she's better than the rest of the Gods because she's birthed by a man. Completely ignoring Metis, who Zeus fucking ate?!
Not trying to say anything here just really wanting to set up a dialogue and seeing if anybody can weigh in on this or talk about it. Again, the gods will be gods and a lot of them have done terrible strange things, but, I do hate that some people want to write her off to be some ally to women. 🥴 Bruh.... there are just some things about the gods that you won't like. And there are women who doing give a fuck if other women succeed or not. Hera wasn't a sunshine flower either. She victim blamed ALL THE TIME. Get over it maybe...?
I also want to add that Athens was extremely misogynistic so they probably wrote her to be that way, especially since she was their Patron God. It was their weird way of putting women in their place or something. Making them think that the goddess Athena herself thinks women should subject themselves to men. This made even more evident when you realize that places that worship Artemis and Ares like Sparta and Thrace treated women with respect. Allowing them to fight and own land and sleep with whoever and how many they please without being called whores. Uck. This whole topic annoys me, just felt like throwing that out there and talking to someone about it
