Warrior Cats AU where once Speckletail realizes/acknowledges to herself that Snowkit is deaf, she does start teaching him, but not skills he'd need as a warrior (was he even close to being old enough to be an apprentice by the time he died in canon?), but rather how to survive by using his other senses to make up for his inability to hear. And this actually results in him not being grabbed by the hawk because, thanks to his mother's lessons, he's actually the first one to notice the hawk, having been watching the sky periodically while playing because Speckletail had taught him to especially be wary of the sky when there's no cover - such as at that time.

Ironically, his warrior name ends up being Snowhawk, not so much because of the hawk incident, but because it's quickly discovered that he has surprisingly good vision/is extremely observant, noticing small things before anyone else, and sometimes even things nobody else sees.

Bonus - Mistlekit also lives because let Speckletail see both her youngest babies grow up.
