And why does Luka look so worried?!
Who are they?
Was talking with some baby Miraculers(ages 6-11) about Lila and how we older audiences are trying to figure out where she is in every episode and how she is appearing. I relayed to the kids some ideas the older audiences have, like how Lila could've given herself shapeshifting powers, or that the social media "ZOO" has a butterfly community Lila is a part of to better gather helpers.
While the whole Lila giving herself shapeshifting powers sounded interesting to them, they agreed Lila would not try the same thing she did back in the London special, when her plan to write down Ladybugs identity failed, something she couldn't remember while she was akumatizing herself.
However, the possibility of Lila having helpers peaked their little brains, but added that this butterfly community, if it does exist, may be far worse than we realize. Those moments when we saw someone in the background following the characters and writing things down, that wasn't Lila.
However, the person at the café in "Illustrihater" had to be Lila herself because of the chameleon themed drink ordered, which is what Lila is, the chameleon of the show.
As for how they think Lila is appearing in every episode and where, well, they think that aside from taking on a new identity to be in the school again, it's not a matter of finding her physically appearing in public , but rather, how she is able to follow people without actually being there. They think Lila does have helpers following the other characters around, but Lila herself is also there with them, without actually being there.
I asked them how they think that's possible for someone like Lila to accomplish this, but they explained to me that its not humanly possible, but it is entirely possible if she used the butterfly miraculous.
Compared to Monarch, Lila has done some time to figure out how she can use the butterfly miraculous in ways Gabriel never thought to think of. If she could figure out how to make antikumas that can be shot out of the akumatized villains to cancel out a heroes powers, then they think Lila might have learned how to make use of the butterfly miraculous simplest ability, creating akumas and form a telepathic connection with a person the akuma is attached to. They think Lila is attaching her ultrakumas to notebooks and sending them out with helpers to take around the city, allowing her to not only see and hear what their hearing, even talk with them when she decides to check up on her helpers progress, but to also tell them who to follow so she can send the akuma out of the notebook to akumatize that person she's chosen.
The reason they think this is because they have not seen how Lila sends out her akumas into the city. If she's already nearby, like at the school, she'll send out an akuma herself. Gabriel raised the butterflies in his mansion and sent them out through the window, but we always see them in Lila's lair, the French catacombs, a place that's miles upon miles deep underground, which means someone might be taking them outside for her when she's down there!
I asked them, "Why do you think people would be willing to help Lila even though she's a villain?", their response, "Because they think Monarch was a good guy and hate the heroes already(Reunion)", "A bad person can pretend their a good person, and that's what Lila does, A LOT"
My final question to them was, "So why is Lila writing again? and what's with the piles of notebooks in her lair?" They said, "Those aren't her notebooks, their her helpers" "She only writes the really good stuff from them if it helps her plan". But again, lets just wait and see what the show has to say.
This is just what they’re starting with. Other ideas they had were, these people are NOT associated with Lila, their actually from the council Nathalie and Gabriel were in, investigating Adrien’s friends. Another, they think Lila is forming a cult to worship her.
Hol up, is Lila actually onto Marinette?! Or is she referring to another person? Sure Marinette wasn't at the party, but neither was Kagami or Diane. Lila wants to uncover Ladybugs identity, but given her choices, could she have chosen the wrong person?
Lila said she needed to check again and again and again, and although to us it would be quickest for Lila to suspect Marinette, Lila knows she can't just expect to find a quick answer after her last failed attempt to uncover Ladybug's identity in the London Special.
Given the quantum masking effect the jewels have, which a reminder is a magic of the jewels that confuses human minds to help protect the holders identity by preventing other humans from connecting the obvious physical resemblance of a holder when they are in hero form, Lila can't rely on physical appearance so she has to go off of other characteristics, and the one thing she knows about Ladybug is that she is clever and surprisingly lucky, which in reality is a result of Marinette's personal hard work and willingness to think out of the box, but Lila don't know that! She probably thinks Ladybug is naturally skilled and lucky. Marinette had her moment when she finally exposed Lila in "Confrontation" but her actions that day might have only put her on a list of people Lila now suspects might be Ladybug. This could be another reason why she has so many notebooks, which we suspect belong to people we think are followers of Lila stalking the students at school for her, she knows Ladybug is among the students because why else would she trust someone like Alix with the bunny miraculous if she didn't already know her, problem is everyone knows Alix was chosen by Ladybug to guard the bunny miraculous, so Lila has to choose carefully about who to suspect.
If anything, Diane might be one of Lila's top suspects seeing as she is a person blessed with good fortune. But again, lets just wait and see what the show has to say.
Chloe’s likely had her time to self reflect, but not for the good reasons people hope. Chloe wasn’t ashamed for what she did in “Revolution”, she was upset she lost everything that gave her a sense of power over everyone in Paris. Audrey’s plans to educate Chloe may teach her how to obtain the power she wants.
A trailer for season 6 released! To keep this short, I’ll only go over some major details. No one tell me any other spoilers!
Starting off with Lila, here we see that her transformed appearance completely hides any detail about her, appearing almost like a ghost.
Of course we don't know for sure if this is even her true appearance since we do not see the butterfly miraculous visible on her body, the way it normally is with any holder, but from the looks of things, this dark, faceless, purple appearance Lila has, may actually be something else entirely. It’s normally typical of us to see someone like Hawkmoth on screen as he akumatizes someone, but for the person being akumatized, it’s a whole other experience. The akuma usually forms a link between the person being akumatized and the holder of the butterfly miraculous, they didn’t see hawkmoth, they could only hear him speak to them, they felt his presence with them, and perhaps that is what we see with Lila, this is not her true appearance, it’s how her presence is felt by the people she is akumatizing.
Even more interesting is the akuma Lila is creating. When Hawkmoth created his akumas, they all looked the same, it was just a matter of how powerful he wanted to make them, but for Lila, the butterflies seem to have taken on an entirely different shape than the first time she used them on herself in the London special, meaning its likely she has learned to harness her abilities over the time skip and may have created an entirely new akuma, one that surpasses anything Gabriel made.
In the first shot is a nice little detail with the person Lila is trying to akumatize literally sitting in the palm of her hand, showing she’s the one in control and has successfully manipulated them to accept the power she offered, but for evil intentions.
In total the trailer shows four akumatized villains, aside from Roger who’s akumatized form has been seen before, the other three are brand new. What’s more, they are entirely new people introduced into the show. Of course any info on who these three are has yet to be released, but their akumatized forms does reveal something about them.
The first akumatize villain looks to be a referee of some sorts, maybe that was a profession of theirs and the reason they were akumatized. Them saying, ”Defeat ladybug”, must mean they have control over some form of henchmen with their power.
The second villain appears to be a child bringing to life the doodles they draw, fitting as their design includes a pencil design. The third villain looks like an Olympic athlete.
Why these people were akumatized could have been for any number of reasons, but unlike Gabriel who mainly targeted whatever negative emotion he could sense, Lila might have had a completely different approach for who to select. Looking at the three new akumatized villains alone, a referee, a child bringing their doodles to life, and an Olympic gold medalist, might all have something in common, perhaps their forms all reference a dream they had that couldn’t be achieved, until Lila offered to help them.
Of course this is mainly speculation based on discovering that Lila watches Alec’s tv program where he helps others fulfill their childhood dreams. Lila was also known for lying to others about offering them a chance at an opportunity they’d enjoy or would genuinely help them in their futures, through whatever “connections” she had, all of which were of course lies to sway them to her side.
Switching to the hero's side of things, Ladybug is shown in one shot protecting a man and who is likely his daughter, both of which are also new characters in the show. They seem to be on some sort of running track, so the daughter must be the runner since she is wearing the proper running attire. All three of them are looking at something, and since the Olympic villain is the only one who looks to be of an athletic theme, it’s probably them, hinting that whatever happened on that running track, led to that person being akumatized.
In one of the shots, we see the main four, Ladybug, Cat Noir, Rena and Carapace. The entire team is not present but that's expected because despite the entire team being permitted to keep their miraculous at the end of season 5, Ladybug and Cat Noir will not need everyone present when there is a fight, they will instead do as they have always done and just call on any one of them for help if the mission calls for it.
We do however, finally get to see two other members of the team, Miss Hound and Pegasus, both of whom also have upgraded costumes.
Max in particular seems to have a new style for the horse miraculous. Marinette did say she was planning to upgrade the miraculous, while also making them prettier as she restored their form. If she did this for the horse miraculous using her power of creation, then the others may have been changed to better fit a more modern time as well.
However, in another shot, it’s shown that Sabrina is trying to give back the dog miraculous to Ladybug, who does not want her to give it back and instead tells Sabrina, “I know you're a good person”. This must be going on during the events with an akumatized Roger, who is Sabrina’s dad.
Something must have happened that made Sabrina doubt she was fit to wield one, and fighting her father while he is akumatized likely made matters worse. Sabrina’s behavior in believing she is not worthy is expected. After all, having previously been friends with Chloe since childhood, Sabrina was accustomed to living a life where she would follow strict orders and be told how incapable she was at doing things when something didn't go Chloe’s way.
Learning to acknowledge and correct her own mistakes, and understanding that she can have the confidence to do things for herself, was not something Sabrina was used to. Marinette would understand how Sabrina was feeling because she faced the same feeling when she doubted her worth over being a hero and had even attempted to renounce the Ladybug earrings in “Origins”. Sabrina is normally not seen doing things on her own, but now that she is no longer friends with Chloe, it will be interesting to see her find her own independence. However, seeing Sabrina feel uncertain about keeping the dog miraculous, does raise the question if she will have these feelings again as she learns to find herself away from Chloe. But again, lets just wait and see what the show has to say.
Ray’s talk about how no one in Paris knows who Zoe really was in NYC, may have more to do with what family she comes from. Zoe could be the daughter of a dangerous man, her former friends all from dangerous families. That’s why only Jessica, a hero, was her friend.
Lets talk about the London special trailer
Disney channel France released the trailer for the London special, lets dive in and see what's happening. I know TF1 also released another trailer but I want the majority of the special to be a surprise, so I'm just going to analyze one. I'm gonna try to piece together what parts of the trailer are in order, the first being of course Ladybug traveling to London with a very sad look on her face. The London special takes place in the season 5 finale, right after Monarch used the miraculous to make a wish , so of course she feels very troubled on account of that she just witnessed a lot of dark secrets unfold within the Agreste family, during her battle against Monarch at the Agreste mansion.
To top it all off, she even watched in horror as Gabriel chose to die to bring back Nathalie who we saw healthy and alive at the end of the season 5 finale, sitting alongside Amelie.
At this point in the London trailer, Ladybug is aware that Adrien needs to know his father is dead, but this reality will of course be very difficult for Ladybug to say and for Adrien to hear, since he has essentially now lost both his parents. Worst of all, Ladybug knows she cannot comfort Adrien as his girlfriend while she is still Ladybug, and must refrain from showing him too much emotion otherwise she will risk exposing her true identity.
Unfortunately, Adrien was just one part of the aftermath she has to confront, she also has to deal with the public who will of course find out on their own that Monarch is gone from his inactivity alone and will be needing some kind of answer to prevent them from trying to dig on their own about what really went on between Ladybug and Monarch's fight, especially once the entire world finds out that Gabriel Agreste had also gone missing the day Ladybug faced Monarch.
Marinette knows she cannot tell the public Gabriel was Monarch because the consequences from that truth alone would very quickly turn into a violent backlash against Adrien, who had no fault in his fathers choice to be the villain of Paris. She alone is fully aware there are people out there who will not listen to reason as many are already willing to turn against her alone, spreading misinformation and unnecessary hate about her ("Reunion").
Although many people close to Adrien know he would never try to harm anyone the way his father did, the pain and trauma Gabriel inflicted on so many citizens when he was Monarch, will of course leave some people more than willing to find someone to blame for his actions, and the closest to attack will be Adrien if they ever learn of Monarchs identity.
Gabriel left a great burden to Marinette when he asked her not to let Adrien find out he was Monarch, and as much as Marinette hated being asked to carry such a burden, Gabriel knew he left her no other choice, he knew Marinette's love for Adrien could be used to his advantage and force her to keep his identity a secret if she ever wanted to spare Adrien of the pain and consequences that would follow after he was gone.
Next we have what we can easily conclude is the antagonist of the special, this ghost looking person. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is not Lila despite seeing them in Lila's hideout, the reason being is because at the end of the season 5 finale, we saw Lila in her lair caught by surprise as a bright light suddenly appeared behind her, whatever that light was must have been from this ghost person who did something to Lila.
We don't know who this ghost person is yet, but they know Marinette is Ladybug, knowing exactly where she lives and that her earrings are the ladybug miraculous despite the jewels being in camouflage. In addition to taking the earrings, they also took all the other miraculous that were reconfigured into rings, what they plan to do with all that power, we still wont know until the special releases.
Regardless, whatever this person is doing, it's something that was not meant to happen in the timeline as we can see that their actions have alerted Bunnyx, who very quickly pulls Marinette into the burrow not long after Marinette realizes her earrings and the other miraculous were taken.
In the burrow, Bunnyx and Marinette watch as the various timelines in the time stream are turning black and disappearing, of course they will need to handle whatever it is that messed up the river of time in the first place, but what caused it? If the time stream could be affected by an anomaly such as Ladybug writing her real name on her gift to Adrien back in "Cat Blanc", then this could mean someone out there did something, something small, that they were not supposed to.
Unfortunately, without her earrings, Marinette can't do much against whoever took the miraculous and is now messing up the timestream, she needs the ladybug earrings. The only way she can use them while they are missing, is by borrowing them from another point in time when she wasn't using them. It's not the first time she had to borrow a miraculous from another point in time, they asked Fu from the past to let them borrow the dog miraculous in "Evolution". The only point in Marinette's life when she wasn't wearing the earrings to use in case of an emergency was in "Origins" when she wasn't ready to take on the responsibility of a hero, and that's exactly where we see her travel to in the London trailer. Back in "Origins" Marinette left the earrings in her drawer for the rest of the day, a perfect time for future Marinette to take them temporarily without alerting anyone or causing any damage to the timeline.
Well that just about covers everything in the trailer, now to wait for the official release, see you all in therapy!
Who used it?!
The sentimonster topic has always been very interesting to talk about, but recently, as I was conversing with a fellow Miraculer, whom has asked to be referred to as “Sunny D”, something new came to light. As a quick refresher, just as any miraculous, if the peacock miraculous is used when in a broken state, the holder will receive a terrible backlash that will not only make them ill, but inevitably lead to their death. No human medical knowledge can heal the effects from a broken miraculous, because no such human cure or treatment exists to treat such magical side effects.
Now, throughout the series, we have already been subtly hinted of there potentially being numerous sentimonsters in the series, most notably by all the references to feathers, such as the ones we saw in the “Adrien the Fragrance” ad back in ”Gorizilla”, being a clear sign of the various amoks/sentimonsters in the series who were always close to Adrien.
Felix and Adrien were always prime sentimonster suspects for years, but we knew there had to be more, and sure enough, one of the people on that list of potential sentimonsters was narrowed down to Kagami, who not only had a very strict and controlled way of life, but was also among the few with a mom that was close to Gabriel, meaning she to could share in the secret of the peacock miraculous. Confirmation of Kagami being a sentimonster along with Adrien and Felix, was quickly obtained near the end of “Perfection”, when Tomoe revealed that Kagami had an amok in the family ring.
(Tomoe lashed out at Gabriel, after learning he sent a megakuma to Kagami’s ring, if the amok is released, Kagami will disapear. In “Emotion”, Felix further confirmed things, the moment we saw him sense Kagami's amok in her ring.)
But even with knowing now that there were three official sentimonsters in “Emotion” alone, the three being of course, Felix, Adrien and Kagami, we forgot that we don’t actually know the full backstory on how Kagami was created, at least not yet anyway. There is a grim fate to anyone who uses the broken peacock miraculous, so who used it to create Kagami? Tomoe is still alive and healthy, so did someone else create Kagami for Tomoe?
Back in "Riposte", we learn through Adrien’s online search that the Tsurugi's were mainly comprised of a grandfather, Kagami, and Tomoe, but no spouse is talked of. We don’t know much about Tomoe and the rest of the Tsurugi family line just yet, but it wouldn’t be to shocking to know that Tomoe was the last of her families lineage and wanted to have a kid on her own without a spouse. But regardless of what she could have told the public and Kagami to cover up the truth about the peacock miraculous, it feels like there is some darker truth Tomoe has not yet revealed to the audience.
With no one else but a grandfather in her life, Tomoe could have sought the help of her only remaining family to help her by asking him to use the peacock miraculous for her, but considering the circumstances of Kagami’s way of life, Tomoe could have also brought it upon herself to create the “perfect” child she envisioned, a child who would uphold the Tsurugi family name exactly as she wanted. Of course, if Tomoe used the peacock miraculous and is still alive, then there is a possibility she used the peacock miraculous before it was broken.
No matter how far back we trace the peacock miraculous, we know that it was broken when Emelie used it, but we don’t know how it was broken or exactly when. For all we know, the peacock miraculous would have still been completely in tact when it was found along with the butterfly miraculous all those years ago, but was placed into a situation, not long after it was found, which gave it its first crack, and then later forced that small crack to spread, honestly who knows. We know that whoever uses it in its broken state would face the same fate as Emelie, Colt(Felix’s dad), and Nathalie, worst of all, nothing humanly possible could save them once they used its power.
So, if the Tsurugi Grandfather used it to bring Kagami into the world and passed away a few years after that, no one would be suspicious of an elderly man passing on. But if Tomoe was potentially the last person to use the peacock miraculous before it was officially broken, then she must have received some sort of side effect that was not necessarily life threatening, but still very sudden and impactful onto her life none the less, such as loosing her vision. But again, lets just wait and see what the show has to say.
